No matter what she needed to get whatever was shining at her with that blinding silvery sheen. It was a compulsion she had never felt before and it caused her heart to palpitate beyond control!
Excitement ran through her. Adrenaline. She was running before she even noticed she was going anywhere! Before she had even made up her mind!
It was as if she was being pushed by an internal force of nature. She just had to have whatever it was. Her eyes remained locked onto the person dangling, hanging on for dear life.
It didn't even register that she should save the person, or that it was even an option at all.
As she encountered a tree, she jumped, large white bat-like wings sprouted from the back of her gilded high collared white underdress. One flap, two flap. She kicked herself off the tree.
Flapflapflapflapflapflapflapflapflapflapflapflapflap!
Naomi moved unsteadily through the air, her wings hardly in sync with her desires.
"Come on! Come on! Come on!" The knowledge to fly, was there in her mind. Yet her wisdom has yet to reach it. She had no experience flying, using wings. All she knew was to flap hard and heavy, fast and light.
Woosh! Woosh! Woosh! She was raising! Higher, higher! The clouds were so far away, so far from her reach. Yet the shiny was getting closer!
"Help!" Yelled the royal in red, "I can't die here!"
"Your Highness! We can't get to you without the rope unwinding! You have to will yourself back up onto these foul panels!" The Knight called after the Prince who was flailing about, unable to pull himself back up on his own.
That's when they could hear the wild flapping of an innocent looking diva rising from the grounds below. Her white wings sending small breezes in all directions from her sloppy flying.
It was as if she was a newborn who had just learned to leave the nest!
The Prince's fingers were slipping. First went the pinky, the ring finger, the middle. He was holding on with just his forefinger and thumb. "Gods save me!" He'd yelp as he could feel the rope cutting into the creases of his digits, a hand which had never learnt of a callus before in its entire life!
"Shiny!" Both hands were reaching out as the prince whipped his head to the side, staring at the dragon girl.
His face turned a slight red as he saw her two toned eyes and black hair that had a strange silvery shine to it. She was almost mystic to look at, a young beautiful maiden for sure!
He was tempted to just let go and wrap himself around her! It took everything in his power to stop himself from taking a leap... Only for him to come to a realization, his eyes following hers. He blinked, her attention and her hands weren't reaching out for him, but the watch which was hanging from his jacket.
"Heh... Oh?" The Prince feigned confidence, sweat forming on his temple as he reached up with his other hand weakly, grasping the watch. "You want this?"
"HmHm!" Nodding to him, her eyes flickered up to his face and narrowed. The excitement was practically gone all of a sudden.
Right before her, dangling, holding on for dear life was a Prince Charming.
"If you help me return to my men, I will surely give you this token of the Royal Family!" He said with a wide smile, though his tone sounded like a plea for help as his last fingers were slipping.
Naomi stared at his thumb and forefinger as they were slowly losing their hold. Then those gold and blue hues narrowed on his face. "Why can't I take it after you've fallen?"
She never thought she'd ask someone this question, a question akin to 'Why can't I take it from your corpse?' It gave herself the shivers that she had suddenly become so selfish.
The Prince froze for a moment in hopelessness, only for his fingers to slip from the rope. Yet before he could even fall more than a foot, she found two dainty hands around the wrist of the hand holding the watch.
"Please! Put me down on the ledge by my man Knight, equitable maiden!" The Prince pleaded, pointing with his other hand as he swayed with the wind, with the Dragon Girl. "It shall only be to your benefit!"
Blinking a few times at him when he was pleading for her help, she stared down at him, a giggle erupting from her mouth. A faint tinge of red on her face, a fanciful idea coming to mind.
Had one ever heard of rescuing a Prince from a Dragon? Would they send a lady knight to claim his love? Or a faithless army of fairy tale blasphemers?
Should she horde the Prince along with that shiny in his hand? Her eyes finally picked apart the details of the item in his hand. A pocket watch. She could hear the ticking inside of it, the subtle sounds of the gears, her toes curled in her thin sole boots with piqued interest.
[ PING! If you don't drop him, the Kingdom will revere you. If you do drop him, your Dungeon will be in danger... If you keep him, he might make a good pet. ]
"Meta-sama, are you trying to make me enslave an entitled male?" A smug looked appeared across her lips as, according to those around her, she was talking to the air. "Can I break him?"
"B-break me?" The Prince's voice squeaked in surprise, his eyes shifted to the ravine below. Perhaps being enslaved and broken by this girl was better than death? Absolutely, she was adorable, what could she possibly do to him? Slap his face over and over again?
She had such little hands.
Oddly enough the to-be-prisoner was smiling at her, half-smiling to be exact.
[ PING! Holding a Prince Hostage would definitely bring more Adventurers... Or even mercenary soldiers whom are likely to be worth even more. ]
"Ah... So taking him would be valuable," Naomi smiled back at him, seeing his eyes widen as she made up her mind.
The Prince did find it weird that she was talking to herself, which was causing him to raise a brow in confusion, but no one is perfect... Right!? He gave his men a slight sheepish wave.
"Your Highness!"
"RELEASE MY BROTHER YOU WINGED BEWITCHING FIEND!" An unladylike voice suddenly exploded from behind the Knight, a high heeled shoe flying directly passed the Dragon's head. Cutting through the air with extreme prejudice.
Naomi froze, her wings stopped working for a split second as her face turned blue in panic, causing the two of them to suddenly drop.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaah!"
Screaming at the top of his lungs as they were falling, the Prince's arm protectively wrapped around the Dragon's head as they were plummeting.
"Let go!" She sniped, squeezing the end of the forearm of his which was in her hands, feeling the two bones move in his arm like the handles of a hand gripper.
Almost instinctively his arm pulled off from around her head as she started to rapidly flap her wings. At first her wings were just as useless as a cape, like the cloak she still had on her back.
Yet just before they were about to impact into the lake, she broke them out into a hover, letting out a light sigh as she saved them just in time. A relaxed smile on her lips as she then yawned lazily, slapping her lips together as tears formed in her eyes.
Glancing down at the Princess, she narrowed her sights on him.
He wasn't moving, and she was pretty sure she smelled something relatively bitter and disgusting. Scrunching up her face, Naomi let go of the hand. Of course, she ended up swiping the watch out of the man's hand before he dropped into the water!
"Hehe!"
[ PING! Naomi! Don't let the Prince Drown! The dungeon will be in danger! ]
