"Please, save me your pleasantries. Do you have anything else to say to me?" he asked coldly, narrowing his eyes.
His eyes were filled with anger, as was to be expected, and another emotion too—one Zuo Aiai couldn't quite put her finger on.
She had no idea what he was thinking. He had taken the time to come here, andyet he had asked his secretary to discuss the contract with Zuo Tianhao in his stead. It seemed that the Zuo family didn't mean enough to him for him to bother leaving the car.
That's right. That meant she didn't mean anything to him either. After all, he was the CEO of King's Group—why should she? What happened last night wasn't even worth mentioning to him, right?
She heaved a sigh of relief, gaining some courage from these thoughts.
"Mr. Jin! I have something to ask of you!"
He raised his eyebrows and looked at her impassively. After a moment, his stare started to make her nervous.
She swallowed her saliva, looking down and not daring to look up again. "That piece of land that you just bought doesn't belong to Zuo Tianhao—it's not his to sell! It belongs to me and my mother, and I hope you can return it to me."
The corners of Jin Di's mouth curled up, as if to mock her for overestimating herself.
"Miss Zuo, Zuo Tianhao personally mortgaged this land to King's group. Right now, the Zuo family is in debt for a large sum of construction money that we lent them. This piece of land legally belongs to me now—please tell me, why should I give it to you?"
'He isn't mentioning what happened last night and this morning,' Zuo Aiai thought, 'Could it be that he's angry I din't call him?'
She could tell that he didn't have any special feelings for her, so why did he keep pestering her?
And why was the president of King's Group handling such a small case as the one with the Zuo family himself?
He took the time out of his day to come along, but decided to wait in the car.
Zuo Aiai wasn't a fool. Naturally, she knew that he was waiting for her.
He was waiting for her to take the bait.
"Mr. Jin, let's get straight to the point. I have nothing. I need that deed and that house. If you want to get something from me in return, just say it. In my current situation, I don't really have another choice."
"Oh?"
If Jin Di was being completely honest with himself, he was surprised. He hadn't expected her to choose such a straightforward method.
After leaving the hospital that morning, he had immediately decided he would have a formal discussion about his needs and her salary when she called in the afternoon. After all, she was the first person he had met that he could be intimate with without an allergic reaction.
Jin Di preferred to make such things formal. He wasn't a man who enjoyed wasting time.
Today, however, she seemed to be on some kind of power trip.
He wasn't pleased with this development in her personality.
"You think you're the one who should be negotiating with me? Miss Zuo, you must tell me your secret! Where did you find all this new confidence?"
Her personality was very different from what Jin Di had thought. She was also quite different from the top socialite he'd read about in the newspapers. He was intrigued.
Her face turned red and she bit her lower lip. Suddenly, she was a little embarrassed.
"I. . . I didn't mean that." Although she had been humbled by recent developments in her life, the old arrogant tone would still creep back into her voice on occasion.
She'd forgotten who it was that she was speaking to. She could not afford to offend him!
"Then what do you mean?" The corner of Jin Di's mouth twitched in amusement. His handsome features suddenly took on a softer, more charming aspect.
He held his chin with one hand and looked at her lazily. He was like a playboy. If she hadn't already seen his business card, it would be hard for her to associate him with the legendary cold and ruthless CEO of King's Group!
She was so embarrassed that her face went red. Danil, who was sitting in front, couldn't take another minute of this.
"President, the company meeting is at 5 o'clock."
