Chapter 90 - Chapter 89 was just a little bastard

Bai Xiaomi was feeling a mixture of anger and sadness. "Xixi, how could this happen? That guy was obviously guilty and yet he was able to escape punishment!"

Guan Xi's heart filled with anger.

She patted Bai Xiaomi's shoulder comfortingly. "Xiaomi, don't worry..."

"You little bastard! Did you really hit a kid?"

The elevator door in the corridor of the hospital opened. A young man with blond hair walked out. He shouted in a dissatisfied tone, "Let me see that little runt."

He was followed by a middle-aged noblewoman. She was wearing a huge pearl necklace, gold bracelets, and huge gold rings.

"You little brat, how many times have I told you not to drive after drinking? Look at what happened!"

It was clear that the lady was the mother of the golden-haired young man. She seemed to be scolding him, but her tone betrayed her concern.

"My driving skills are so good. I just drank a bottle of red wine? Hell, I can drink two more and still be fine to drive," the guy replied carelessly.

His mother reprimanded, "You're lucky you weren't injured. How do you think I'll feel if you got hurt?"

"I'm fine."

After a pause, he complained, "Why isn't that little kid dead? Now, I still have to go and visit her? If she had just been killed by the car, I wouldn't have to go through so much trouble to see her now! Mom, I'm going to meet a few of my buddies. I can't waste my time..."

Bai Xiaomi couldn't listen to his heartless whining anymore so she rushed forward and demanded emotionally, "Does Little Grape's life really mean so little to you?"

The guy was surprised by Bai Xiaomi's outburst.

He narrowed his eyes and sized her up. With a mocking laugh, he said, "You're from the orphanage too, aren't you?"

Bai Xiaomi and Director Liu were both in the police station when this guy was brought in.

She remembered him, and obviously, he recognized her too.

The guy was furious. If they hadn't reported the case, he wouldn't have to go the police station yesterday.

Bai Xiaomi looked at the man furiously, her fists clenched tightly. She asked again, "Does a little girl's life really mean nothing to you?"

"She's just a bastard. Why should I care?"

He added indifferently, "Did she wake up today? If not, then there's no point in me going here to see her. Its a waste of my time."

"You little brat! Stop talking nonsense," his mother berated. She then turned to Bai Xiaomi and smiled. "Miss, my son's words are too harsh. Please, don't take it to heart. He's stupid, but he's not a bad person. We're here today to see the child and tell you that we'll be paying for her medical expenses."

"Mom, why should we take responsibility for this? She's in an orphanage. Obviously, no one wants her. We should just do her a favor and let her die."

"Shut up!" the woman hissed.
