Chapter 81 - Was Chapter 81 sympathizing or pitying him?

Guan Xi was at a loss for words. Of course, she knew that he was cold and distant. However, she was expecting some leniency this time around since she was being a doting little wife to him!

'Oh my God! He's impossible to please!'

'Fine!'

Admittedly, she understood why he was a bit confused.

She had been in the Xiao family for a little more than a month.

In all that time, whenever she saw him, she would scuttle away like a mouse seeing a cat.

She did everything she could to avoid him. It was understandable for him to question why she was voluntarily putting herself in his path now.

"Well, I thought that I should welcome you home today, Master Jiu."

Guan Xi paused for a moment before stammering, "After all, I am your wife."

Xiao Jiuyan continued to look at her with indifference.

She couldn't stand his gaze. So when the servant took his wheelchair from the trunk, Guan Xi jumped in to help. "Let me do it."

"This... Madam, are you sure?" the servant questioned. He had never seen her do this for Master Jiu before.

Guan Xi nodded eagerly. "Yes, I'm sure. I can do it."

She almost crossed her heart to assure him.

She disliked being told that she couldn't do something.

Pushing the wheelchair to the side of the Cayenne, Guan Xi smiled brightly at her husband and said, "Master Jiu, let me help you."

Xiao Jiuyan frowned, closing his laptop and setting it aside.

"Push it over here a little," Xiao Jiuyan said.

"Okay." Guan Xi obediently pushed the wheelchair closer to the side of the car.

The wheelchair was now firmly attached to the door of the car.

"Master Jiu, do you want me to help you..."

She wanted to help him but before she could start on any action, he had already moved closer to the door. Slowly, he leaned forward and put his hands on the wheelchair.

The force he was exerting to move his entire body onto the wheelchair made the veins on the back of his hands bulge.

This process actually took about ten seconds.

Guan Xi felt a little uncomfortable watching it.

She had seen him get off the car before, but it was always others who helped him get out. She had never seen it done up close.

He was just getting out of the car.

He was just getting out of the car and it was already so difficult for him.

That accident changed his life for the worse, but it didn't take away his power.

It made Guan Xi wish that she could've seen him in his prime.

Her nose and throat tingled. She wanted to cry for him.

After Xiao Jiuyan was situated comfortably in his wheelchair, he said calmly, "Let's go."

"What? Oh... yes, of course!" Guan Xi was pulled back to the reality by his voice. She swallowed her emotions and pushed him into the mansion.

Xiao Jiuyan was observant. He had noticed the emotions welling in his wife's eyes.

His cold eyes instantly became deep and dark.

Was his silly little wife pitying him?

...

Guan Xi pushed Xiao Jiuyan into the mansion and directly into the dining room.

She positioned him at the head of the table.

Then, she went to the kitchen and served all the dishes she had made today.

She didn't make much because she wasn't sure if he was going to like it. She only made two dishes and a soup, all of which she presented in front of Xiao Jiuyan.

Xiao Jingming saw the delicious-looking dishes served in front of his uncle, and decided that he wanted to try them too.

Just as he reached out to take some, Guan Xi hit his hands with her chopsticks.
