Chapter 74 - Chapter 73. The family background of a scholar

Qian An and Shuishui's relationship strengthened and deepened as they dined together, talked to each other, and sat down for quiet chats. If they didn't have time to meet and eat together, these feelings could disappear at any time for Shuishui because she wasn't her body's original owner. She was only herself. Although she used this body, it didn't mean that she would inherit everything from her.

Qian An had loved and cared for Shuishui to be closer to her, and Shuishui had accepted him as her father. She was afraid that she couldn't do anything else. After all, she didn't want to have troublesome trifles in her life.

Li Xue called up Qian An. "Hubby, when will you be back?"

"Soon. We just finished eating. We're going to Shuishui's apartment to relax and chat. I'll be back soon." Qian An was not in a good mood as he hung up the phone. He was distressed that Li Xue wasn't happy to even dine with her daughter. Qian An sighed deeply.

Shuishui shrugged. "There aren't any snacks in the apartment. Dad, wait for me here. I'll go buy some. I noticed a few dessert shops nearby just now."

"Okay, okay. Dad will wait for you here." Qian An smiled and nodded.

Shuishui took her handbag and left the hot pot shop. She quickly bought a box of cake and a box of cheesecake. Since she didn't have any classes the next day, she could quietly read at home and prepare a few desserts.

After Shuishui paid for the desserts, she went to look for Qian An, and they returned to the apartment.

Father and daughter chatted and laughed as they entered the elevator. Qian An had carried the desserts Shuishui bought. When they entered the elevator, a woman who looked to be in her mid-twenties got in with them. She quickly glanced at Shuishui and Qian An before she quietly turned around and watched as the elevator went up.

Shuishui thought that she had black tea, green tea, and coffee at home. It was not good to drink coffee at night. "Dad, how about this? It's already nighttime. I'll make you hot chocolate. If you drink coffee and tea, I'm afraid you won't be able to sleep when you get home."

"Sure. Can you make it? I didn't know you could make hot chocolate." Qian An looked at Shuishui dotingly. His child had changed a lot. He really liked how confident Shuishui had become.

He patted Shuishui's head. "We're here. Let's go."

The young woman also went out. She stopped at the door next to Shuishui's and opened the door to her own apartment.

It was the first time Shuishui had seen her neighbor. However, in their situation, she did not take the initiative to greet her. She opened the door and invited her father in. She then went to make hot chocolate and cut the cake.

Qian An walked around Shuishui's apartment. He first took a look at Shuishui's room and noticed that it was simple and clean. The quilt was folded neatly. There were not many clothes in the wardrobe. He frowned and sighed. 'How could a girl not have clothes?' He also walked to the bathroom and noticed that it was clean. On the porcelain table, there was only a black quilt, a toothbrush, and a toothpaste. There was also a facial cleanser and a face cream. There was nothing else. Bath towels hung neatly on the side. It was different from what he had imagined. He then walked into the study room.

The study room was relatively small. The table was filled with things like computers, literary works, and bottles of ink. On the walls hung paintings with Shuishui's name printed at the bottom. Shuishui had drawn them, and they were quite good. It seemed that it made the room more conducive to studying. Qian An remembered that he had a recurring dream where he had a daughter who came from a wealthy family and who smelled of books.

Although they had made a fortune, there were always people behind them who said that they were fake wealthy families. People also talked about how they had made their fortune. It did not sound very good.

He had seen some of the children of the other wealthy families. They had good temperaments and had extraordinary personalities. Not all children from rich families were good-for-nothings.

When his business had developed, he was lucky enough to be brought to the capital by his colleagues. He had met several of those children. Some of the girls behaved in a way that made other people feel they were daughters from ancient, scholarly families.

He looked at Shuishui and found that she definitely had a similar personality. But her temperament gave him a strong feeling. It was a little different and special. He could not describe it.

Shuishui carried the cake and hot chocolate. "Dad, I've already prepared it."

"Okay." Qian An walked into the living room and sat on the sofa. "Shuishui, how about this? Draw some landscapes for me, or do calligraphy. Dad will have them framed and displayed in the company office."

"Ah . . . It will be a little embarrassing." Shuishui had just started learning how to paint and was a little embarrassed when others asked about it.

"It's okay. My daughter drew it. As long as I say it looks good, it will look good!" Qian An didn't care what others thought. Besides, he looked at her drawings and found that they were really quite good.

Shuishui scratched her head. "How about this? I'll do calligraphy for Dad. I'm still confident about doing individual words. Then, I'll paint two pictures of mountains and rivers and lotus pond flowers. However, I haven't studied for long. Perhaps my foundation isn't outstanding enough."

"It's fine. How about you do a painting for me every month! Today, you can do a few words first." Qian An hadn't been able to show off his daughter's talents before. Now that he had an opportunity, he would definitely take advantage of it. When others would ask about the paintings, he would proudly say that they were drawn by his daughter.

Shuishui nodded. She could write in calligraphy quickly, but the painting might take a while. She still had to look for inspiration on how to go about it. Doing one painting a month would be a good chance for her to practice and improve.
