After listening for a long time, she finally understood the truth, even though it was hard to accept.
Xia Weiyang's heart felt like it had dropped from her chest. The thoughts racing inside her mind were very upsetting.
She had no idea that her favorite colleague in the office had such strong feelings for Lu Ziyin.
How did it start?
How come she didn't notice it before?
Who was behind her kidnapping?
After calming down, Xia Weiyang closed her eyes and thought quietly. She tried to remember the events that happened before she was kidnapped. She remembered Mo Weian telling her that someone wanted to speak with her before she was abducted.
Drops of cold sweat rolled down Xia Weiyang's body.
It seemed there was someone close to her who Xia Weiyang shouldn't have trusted at all. Although she appeared to be kind and trustworthy, it seemed that person only wanted to hurt Xia Weiyang.
Xia Weiyang felt extremely defeated.
She felt helpless. She could not do anything but wallow in her suffering.
Shi Jue was looking out the window of his office.
"Young master, there's a force that's been hindering us," Mo Yi said as he stood behind Shi Jue.
Looking at the scenery outside, Shi Jue had one hand in his pocket. When he heard Mo Yi's words, he frowned slightly. A sharp glint of light then flashed across his eyes. He raised his neck to address Mo Yi. "Continue your investigation. The most important thing now is to save Xia Weiyang."
Mo Yi nodded in agreement before turning around and leaving Shi Jue's office.
Shi Jue was left alone inside the huge office.
The entire room was quiet except for the faint buzzing sounds produced by the light bulbs.
"Xia Weiyang..." Shi Jue opened his mouth and mentioned her name. His deep eyes were filled with sorrow.
He felt very conflicted.
Shi Jue knew that he had no feelings for Xia Weiyang. It was clear to him that he did not love her. However, hearing her name or imaging her face made him miss her very much. All he wanted at that moment was to get close to her.
He tried his best to hide his feelings.
He tried to remain indifferent whenever he thought about her.
But...
Were his feelings towards her changing?
No, it was not possible!
Shi Jue cleared his mind about his true feelings and instantly returned to his cold and ruthless persona.
A cold light flashed in his eyes and his aura soared. "Whoever did this shall feel my wrath!"
All he could do at that moment was focus his energy on solving Xia Weiyang's abduction.
As Shi Jue was trying to save Xia Weiyang, Xia Ningyan, on the other hand, was hatching up a new scheme.
Xia Ningyan and Wang Jiayi continued their conversation at the hospital.
"Xia Ningyan, young master Shi Jue must be close to finding Xia Weiyang now. You shouldn't go to the hotel." Wang Jiayi sat by the bed as she tried to stop her daughter. "Anyway, we won't admit it, and young master Shi Jue doesn't have any evidence to prove that we did it! Since we have already taught Xia Weiyang a lesson, we should return her to him now. The gains don't make up for the losses."
"Mom, you don't have to care about this." Xia Ningyan fiddled with her phone, and her tone was full of impatience. "Don't worry, everything will be fine. Mom, you should go home first. You don't have to worry about me here."
"Xia Ningyan, tell me the truth. Did you hook up with someone?" Wang Jiayi asked to satisfy her suspicions regarding her daughter's status.
"Mom, you have no idea what I'm capable of. I said you should go home now." Xia Ningyan waved her hand and urged her mother to leave.
"It's not that I don't trust you. I just hope that you won't lose your head because of your anger. The most important thing is to protect yourself." Wang Jiayi left a worried sentence as she exited the ward.
Only Xia Ningyan remained inside the room.
With a strange smile on her lips, Xia Ningyan dialed a number on her phone. "How's everything going? Did you do everything that I asked you to?"
