Mu Ru had originally intended to plant lilac flowers on that particular piece of land. However, two days ago, while Ah Min was turning over the ground, Xi Muxue, who was taking a stroll, saw Mu Ru and told her that she wanted to have tulips planted there. She simply found tulips especially beautiful.
Because Xi Muxue was pregnant with Dongfang Yu's child, she became more valued in the family. Anything she said was as good as whatever Dongfang Mei said.
Although it seemed like the Dongfang family had three male siblings, everyone knew that only Dongfang Mo and Dongfang Yu were siblings and that Dongfang Jun was the odd one out. No one expected Dongfang Mo to produce an offspring, so the burden of producing an heir for the family was placed on Dongfang Yu's shoulders.
Xi Muxue was really living up to the expectations of the Dongfang family. She had only been married to Dongfang Yu for less than two months, yet she was already pregnant with his child. That noon during lunchtime, Dongfang Mei was praising Mu Xue. She said, "Mu Xue indeed has a rich and noble life. I hope that Mu Xue can bring the Dongfang family better luck by giving birth to a son!"
Mu Ru could not help but feel sad for her pitiful state. Xi Muxue was born into nobility and the blessing of having many material possessions. She, on the other hand, was born with an unlucky birthmark on her forehead that tagged her as a jinx. Hence, when Mu Xue became pregnant, it was not very surprising to her that she ended up being assigned to take care of her unruly sister.
Mu Ru and Ah Min planted the tulip seeds they bought. They had weeded out the plot next to Mother Liu's vegetable plot, which was filled with emperor vegetables. Mother Liu had always said that Dongfang Mo loved eating that vegetable the most.
While taking out some weeds, Ah Min said, "These weeds grow and spread fast! Look at that emperor vegetable. It hasn't grown much in a few days, but this weed has grown much faster. It is too stubborn!"
'I don't think I can do it. I don't think I can do it....I think I can do it,' Mu Ru thought to herself while Ah Min was talking.
Looking up, Mu Ru suddenly saw Mu Xue walking towards them. It was already late November and the weather was a little cold, but because she was pregnant, she was wore a very loose autumn bubble skirt. She walked delicately with her stomach protruded. Her cheeks and face were glowing with joy, and the corner of her eyes showed a hint of pride.
Mu Ru lowered her head and continued weeding, ignoring Mu Xue. Besides, she didn't need Mu Ru for anything. She wasn't doing anything anyway.
"Aiyo, Mu Ru, you're so good at weeding flowers and things like that. You're at par with Ah Min," Xi Muxue said. She stood near the vegetable plot with her fair little hand resting on her stomach. She looked at Mu Ru and gave a very smug smile.
Mu Ru frowned. Although she was taking care of Mu Xue, she had never shown Mu Ru any sign of gratitude. She even made her work with Ah Min. Mu Ru felt belittled.
Mu Ru did not make a sound. Ah Min, however, could not stand it anymore. She looked at the way Mu Xue held her waist with one hand and put the other hand on her stomach. Ah Min asked, "Second Madam, have you been learning how to walk like a model recently? Is this your latest pose?"
Ah Min's words stunned Xi Muxue. Unhappily, Mu Xue answered, "Ah Min, what does an old lady like you know? Pregnant women have to be careful when they walk. I have to take care of my lower back and my stomach. I can't walk like I did before. I have to think about the baby in my stomach, don't I?"
