Jin Ye was not surprised by the casual reply. He had not expected to dig out any more information from Gu Zexi.
However, his mind was racing.
Perhaps, the young boy that Jin Ye remembered was Gu Zexi. If that was the case, the logical conclusion would be that Gu Ruochu was Gu Zexi's younger sister.
As Jin Ye mulled over the facts, his heart was stirred up by a great wave of emotions.
If Gu Ruochu was Gu Zexi's younger sister, how could she be related to the Ning family?
Perhaps, Gu Ruochu's background was not as simple as it seemed!
Jin Ye left the movie set and drove towards Su Ze's office. After he entered the building, he bumped into Su Ze in the corridor.
"Jin Ye? Are you all right?" Su Ze was surprised by his client's unannounced visit.
"I have something to tell you," Jin Ye replied in a low voice.
The two of them then entered the office. Before Jin Ye could speak, Su Ze interrupted him. "I just received news that Gu Ruochu is not the Ning family's biological daughter."
Jin Ye fell silent. Su Ze took out some documents from his desk and placed them in front of his client.
As Jin Ye scanned the documents, a passive look appeared on his face. His suspicions were confirmed. The DNA results showed that Gu Ruochu was not related to the Ning family.
It had not been easy for Su Ze to get his hands on the evidence. After all, the Ning family was too powerful, so it had taken a lot of time for him to get the medical information without drawing any attention to himself. After seeing the results, Su Ze had cussed to himself. Gu Ruochu's background was indeed full of twists and turns.
The Ning family had not bothered to carry out a DNA test after Zhang Yuan confessed that she had abandoned Gu Ruochu.
It turned out that the heavens were playing tricks on them!
After confirming that Gu Ruochu was not the Ning family's daughter, Su Ze was starting to believe that she was the little girl that Jin Ye had met. However, it was hard to understand why Gu Ruochu had ended up by Zhou Yunxi's side.
Jin Ye, on the other hand, was even more certain of his guess.
After gazing at Jin Ye for a long time, Su Ze finally asked.
"By the way, what did you want to talk to me about?"
Jin Ye came back to his senses and looked at Su Ze with a complicated expression. "I just came back from the movie set, and I think I've found Ruochu's brother. Now that we've proven that she is not related to the Ning family, I do not doubt that he is her brother."
"Her brother? Who?"
"Gu Zexi."
Su Ze was shocked. "Are you saying that the little girl and boy in your memories are Gu Ruochu and Gu Zexi."
It all made sense. Su Ze felt that he had finally accomplished his task of helping Jin Ye find his childhood friends.
"What do you plan to do now?"
"I will tell Ruochu about her background. I won't allow her to be deceived by the Ning family." Jin Ye paused and looked at Su Ze thoughtfully. "The Ning family did not stop treating Gu Ruochu disrespectfully even after they found out that she was part of their family. Her mother did not change her ways. I will tell Ruochu the truth, and hopefully, she'll stop being sad about how the Ning family treats her."
"Jin Ye, I forgot to tell you something," Su Ze interrupted him, and a sad look appeared on his face. "I heard from other sources that Ruochu was kidnapped."
"Kidnapped? Who is the kidnapper?"
"I'm not sure. A lot of people are looking for her. The police are monitoring all the transportation hubs in the city. I believe they'll find her soon."
Jin Ye turned around to leave, and Su Ze was taken aback by his sudden movement. "Where are you going?"
"I'm going to find her. It's dangerous for her to be in the hands of those kidnappers." Jin Ye was flustered. He was no stranger to being kidnapped. He knew how scary it was.
"Are you stupid? You're just a celebrity with no power. How are you going to look for her? The Huo family has already mobilized all of its forces!"
The words no power suddenly reminded Jin Ye that he did not have the resources to look for Gu Ruochu. However, all of that would change if he took the initiative to contact his father. Unfortunately, Jin Ye did not have a good relationship with him.
