Cheng Xi shook his head and hugged Gu Ruochu's neck.
Mrs. Huo looked at Cheng Xi lovingly, and they all walked in together.
Even after they had entered the house, Cheng Xi held onto Gu Ruochu's hand and refused to let go. It was not until one of the maids coaxed him that he obediently went upstairs to sleep.
Huo Nanchen went to the study and stayed until nine o'clock before heading to the bedroom.
Gu Ruochu was just about to lift the quilt and get into bed when Huo Nanchen held her waist and pulled her into his arms. His breath descended from above her head, and a deep kiss landed on Gu Ruochu's lips.
It was as if they had been husband and wife for many years. Before Gu Ruochu could push him away, Huo Nanchen had already pressed her onto the bed. When she saw that he seemed to be getting restless, Gu Ruochu calmly turned her face away.
"Have you found Yue Cheng?"
Gu Ruochu pressed her hand against his chest and pushed him away. Huo Nanchen slowly rose from her body, and his deep, ink-like gaze fell on her beautiful face.
He understood what she meant.
Until he found Yue Cheng, his relationship with Gu Ruochu would not work out.
"Not yet, but soon." Huo Nanchen lay on his side and thought for a moment. "Yue Cheng's face was disfigured when he was washed into the river. Perhaps, that's why he hasn't shown up yet."
"Medical science is so advanced now. Can't he get plastic surgery?"
"Plastic surgery also requires time. As long as he's alive, he won't abandon Ning Tangxi and Cheng Xi. Maybe he just feels that it's not the right time for him to appear in front of his wife and son."
Gu Ruochu listened to Huo Nanchen carefully before closing her eyes.

Just as Gu Ruochu was about to fall asleep in Huo Nanchen's arms, a phone call woke her up.

Huo Nanchen grunted and swiped at the phone's screen.

"Huo Nanchen, where are you? I just saw the note that Yue Cheng left for me. He is alive! By the time I caught up to him, he was gone." The person on the other end of the line sounded anxious. "Can you come over? I don't know what to do!"
Gu Ruochu instantly regained her senses. She knew from Huo Nanchen's reaction that it was Ning Tangxi who had made the call.
The voice on the other end of the line was ear-piercing. Huo Nanchen's furrowed brows twitched when he heard the name, Yue Cheng. "Don't be anxious. Send me your location immediately. I'll bring my people over soon."
"All right." Ning Tangxi hung up the phone quickly.
When he put down his phone, Huo Nanchen noticed that Gu Ruochu was staring at him.
"Ruochu, I have to go and investigate. Yue Cheng might have gone to look for Ning Tangxi. There might be clues about him at Ning Tangxi's apartment. So, I'll go over and take a look."
Gu Ruochu looked at Huo Nanchen for a while before she nodded and said calmly, "All right. Will you be back tonight?"
"It depends." Huo Nanchen was keenly aware of her thoughts. "Don't let your imagination run wild. Even if I don't come back, I'll have Li Tezhu find me a hotel to stay in. I might need a lot of time to investigate Yue Cheng's whereabouts. Ruochu, I will be very busy during this period. Don't think too much about it."
Their temporary separation was necessary if they intended to spend more nights together in the future.
