Gu Ruochu was surprised by Huo Nanchen's revelation.
"Mmm. I thought that you would not like it, so I didn't buy it."
"How did you know that I wouldn't like it?" Huo Nanchen's tone was still calm, but his oppressive aura suddenly became much stronger.
"Did you think that I wouldn't like it, or were you horrified by the fact that you thought about getting me a gift?" Huo Nanchen stared at Gu Ruochu accusingly as he spat out the words.
Gu Ruochu could detect a sense of grievance in Huo Nanchen's words. Why did he feel wronged? The last part of his sentence had an inexplicable sense of pride.
"Would you have liked the ring?"
"Yes, I would."
Huo Nanchen had not seen the ring, but the thought of his wife getting him a gift made him excited.
Gu Ruochu did not know why, but her heart softened, and she slowly said, "All right. I'll buy you the ring tomorrow."
Huo Nanchen restrained himself from kissing her. He looked at her beautiful eyes with a sense of longing.
Although their relationship had improved a little, he still could not get too close to her. He did not want to push Gu Ruochu away by acting foolishly.
When the manager at the jewelry store called Huo Nanchen to inform him about Gu Ruochu's preference for the tail ring, Huo Nanchen felt a little disappointed. She had looked at it for so long, but she had not made up her mind to buy it for him.
Gu Ruochu saw that Huo Nanchen's expression had eased up a little and suddenly remembered what Yang Xi had told her at the mall. She raised her eyes and looked at him. "Do you still plan to hold a wedding?"
"Mmm," Huo Nanchen responded after a long pause.
"Ruochu, I know that you don't like your old wedding ring. This time, I've hired a jeweler to make you a custom ring. I believe that you'll like it." Huo Nanchen reckoned that Gu Ruochu would be impressed when she saw the ring.
Huo Nanchen was looking forward to holding the wedding. More importantly, he could not wait to see the bride in her wedding dress. Gu Ruochu looked at him with an unreadable expression in her eyes.
Her planned wedding with Huo Nanchen had failed to take place before because of Ning Tangxi and Cheng Xi.
Gu Ruochu did not think that their second attempt would be any different. However, she secretly hoped that the wedding would be a success.
After dinner, Gu Ruochu went upstairs to take a shower.
When she came out of the bathroom, Huo Nanchen was lying lazily on the bed. She went around to the other side of the bed, lifted the blanket, and lay down with her back facing him.
However, his aura was simply too overwhelming. Gu Ruochu could not ignore it.
"Ruochu."
Huo Nanchen called her in a deep, husky voice.
Gu Ruochu pretended to be asleep, but Huo Nanchen could tell that she was listening.
"If everything was all right between us, would the wedding be held as scheduled? Would you still ask me for a divorce and provoke me by going out with other men?"
Gu Ruochu was irritated when she heard Huo Nanchen reference her lunch with Gu Zexi. Huo Nanchen knew that Gu Zexi was her cousin.
However, he was still fussing about her decision to go out with him.
After thinking about it, Gu Ruochu could not come up with any other reason why Huo Nanchen would dwell on the matter other than pure jealousy.
"That's the case for now." Gu Ruochu opened her eyes and looked into Huo Nanchen's dark eyes. The problems between them could not allow them to have a successful wedding.
If the problems were solved, Gu Ruochu wouldn't ask for a divorce.
