Huo Nanchen did not say a word. He hugged her tightly and refused to let her leave the room. He trapped her in his arms as if he would lose a part of himself if he were to let her go.
"Let go of me. Nanny Zhang wants us to go downstairs for dinner." Gu Ruochu turned to look at him. "We should go. You don't have to make a scene."
"You haven't answered my question." Huo Nanchen reached out and tucked Gu Ruochu's long hair behind her ears. He wanted to see her expression clearly. "Why should we get a divorce?"
"Because you don't love me! You don't have to put on an act." Gu Ruochu's eyes were full of mockery. "Ask yourself, do you really love me? If you don't love me, don't lie to yourself."
Every time Gu Ruochu had asked Huo Nanchen if he loved her, he had no answer.
Gu Ruochu felt a sharp pain in her heart. She could not continue to live a lie.
She had grown up in an environment where she had not received any love. Unfortunately, even in her marriage, Gu Ruochu had fallen in love with someone who did not love her back.
However, after realizing that her husband did not love her, Gu Ruochu's only desire was to move on with her life.
It was the first time that Huo Nanchen had appeared stunned in front of Gu Ruochu. He finally let go of her, and she resolutely pushed the door open and went downstairs.
After having her meal, Gu Ruochu went back upstairs and discovered that Huo Nanchen had already left. He had not left any word to the servants regarding his whereabouts.
Gu Ruochu took out her phone and gave him a call. She bit her lip as she watched the call disconnect automatically.
What was he thinking?
Ruo Chu was still worried about Xu Yichen. However, she knew that Rong Xiao could be trusted to keep Xu Yichen safe.
That night, she barely got any sleep. It was not until her alarm clock beeped that Gu Ruochu realized that it was already early in the morning. Huo Nanchen had not returned, and Gu Ruochu was alone in the bedroom.
As Gu Ruochu struggled to get out of bed, her phone rang.
When she saw that it was not Huo Nanchen calling, Gu Ruochu felt relieved.
The number calling her was unfamiliar.
"Who is this?"
"Ruochu!" Zhang Yuan's voice was a little uneasy. "It's your mother. Did I disturb your sleep?"
Zhang Yuan was worried that Gu Ruochu would hang up the phone immediately, so she politely tried to soothe her ego.

"What's the matter?" Gu Ruochu pursed her lips. She knew that Zhang Yuan had been discharged from the hospital the previous day.
However, Gu Ruochu had not made any effort to go and see her. After seeing that Zhang Yuan and Ning Tangxi were still close, Gu Ruochu did not want anything to do with her biological mother.
Zhang Yuan's voice was heavy, and she sobbed, "I was discharged from the hospital yesterday, and I was disappointed that you weren't there. I didn't know that you had left the country. Can you come over? I want to see you."
Gu Ruochu did not speak. Even if though Zhang Yuan and Ning Tang were her biological parents, she did not know if she could have a healthy relationship with them.
The couple had raised Ning Tangxi and Ning Zongxuan for twenty years, and Gu Ruochu did not think that she could compete with the two siblings for Zhang Yuan and Ning Tang's affection.
"Ruochu, are you coming?" Zhang Yuan knew that her daughter felt uncomfortable, but she still wanted her to visit.
"Of course, I'm coming. I'll be there in a moment."
Gu Ruochu had no choice but to give in to Zhang Yuan's request. After all, she was her biological mother. Gu Ruochu could not reject her.
Zhang Yuan finally relaxed, and there was a tinge of joy in her voice as she said, "All right. We'll have lunch together. I'll get the chef to prepare it now."
Gu Ruochu agreed and hung up the phone.
After tidying up, Gu Ruochu asked for a chauffeur, and they drove out of the Huo residence. Along the way, Gu Ruochu bought several gifts for her parents.
When Gu Ruochu arrived at the Ning family's villa, the housekeeper came out with the other servants and welcomed her. The grand gesture made her feel uncomfortable.
"Miss Ruochu, Mr., and Mrs. Ning are waiting for you upstairs."
