"What on earth do you want?"
Gu Ruochu's breathing quickened. Her voice had a hint of hatred in it.
"Ruochu, be reasonable." Huo Nanchen was growing impatient with her attitude.
"I've never loved Ning Tangxi, nor have I ever had anything to do with her. I've already explained to you about my responsibility for Cheng Xi. I can't just ignore him.
"At first, I thought you understood, but now, I know that you don't understand anything." Huo Nanchen stared directly into her eyes. "I don't love Ning Tangxi. It's also impossible for Ning Tangxi to love me."
"Then why do you always run to her? After all, the earth cannot turn around without her asking you for a favor. Anyway, no matter what happens to Cheng Xi, they will always come first in your eyes." Gu Ruochu raised her head to look at him. Tears slowly streamed down her cheeks, and her vision was a little blurry.
She rushed towards the elevators and pushed one of the buttons with all her might. After a sharp ding, the elevator's doors finally opened.
Huo Nanchen stood behind her and continued smoking his cigarette. The white smoke emanating from his fingers was misty. It was mixed with a burning aura, making it impossible for her to ignore his presence.
His manly aura sent chills all over her body.
"That's it. We've reached the hospital. I can see the doctor myself. If you have something to do, you can leave." Gu Ruochu furrowed her brows after Huo Nanchen grabbed her wrist again. "I have something for you.
"Do you like this bracelet?"
Huo Nanchen took out a gift box from his coat, but his gaze never left her. "I saw it at the jewelry store and thought that it was beautiful and suited your style. I wanted to give it to you yesterday, but I forgot about it."
'Forgot about it?'
Gu Ruochu's gaze fell on the bracelet, which was encrusted with several diamond stones. It had an aesthetically pleasing design.
However, she did not show any enthusiasm for the gift.
Huo Nanchen felt displeased as he placed the bracelet in her hand. He looked at her emotionless face and smiled. "You don't like the bracelet, but you clearly like Xu Yichen's watch. You wasted no time wearing it."
"Don't tell me that a person can't wear a watch from a friend after they're married?"
"No, they can't!" Huo Nanchen forcefully pressed her to the side. There was a restrained expression on his face. "All this time, I thought that my actions were obvious. Don't you understand why I've asked you to stay by my side forever? I'll treat you well."
"Is that enough?" Gu Ruochu's emotions were stirred up again.
Huo Nanchen felt that she was being ungrateful and tightened his grip on her hand.
"You're hurting my hand." Gu Ruochu struggled for a moment. Huo Nanchentook a deep breath. Her hand was hurting, but he was in pain everywhere.
He let go of her hand, and his gaze softened. He took the bracelet, put it on her wrist, and said gently, "Go and have a check-up. Aren't you tired?"
'Of course, I'm tired. I'm so tired!'
The thought ran through Gu Ruochu's mind as she reflected on her marriage to Huo Nanchen. He was always distracted by Ning Tangxi and her child and kept breaking his promises to her.
They were his responsibility, and he had sworn to protect them.
When she thought about all the emotional entanglements in their relationship, Gu Ruochu concluded that they would never be happy. Tears flowed down her face as she sobbed, "Huo Nanchen, I think we should split up. Think about what you want.
"I can't stand it anymore..."
Gu Ruochu could no longer stand him being by someone else's side. Every time she thought Huo Nanchen loved her, reality would hit her, and she could see that it was all a lie.
"You can't stand it? Are you in so much pain from being by my side?
"Remember when we were supposed to go and see the wedding dress, Cheng Xi got into an accident, and we didn't make it. You thought that I didn't care that the meeting fell through, but I did."
