As I was waking up all I could feel was the ground below me shaking and the roof above me crumbling. I tried to move but there was a sharp pain when I put any weight on my arm.
"W-where am I?"
After blinking off the drowsiness my eyes were finally getting used to the darkness and I saw twine like material above me. It looked like they were preventing something from crashing down onto me.
"The roof? Why would there be strings holding the roof together".As I pondered about the rope holding up the ceiling above me my finger twitched. And so did the rope."
"Just to make sure lemme try again."
This time I deliberately moved two fingers, and the same thing happened.
"I see you figured it out."
The amount of sarcasm and disdain that came from that cold voice made me shiver. "Who no where are you?"
"Well my dear boy I'm here, there, everywhere. As all thoughts should be."
*Thoughts what does he mean by thoughts.*
*Well when your thoughts get strong enough they can sometimes take a whole new life and meaning. But, it's not just one, it's a conglomeration of thoughts. I swear to you.*
My eyebrow raised and eyes squinted a little as the voice went from being heard to intruding into my head.
*You seem confused, what do you wanna know, besides your name. It's Bram, Bram Hartsfield.*
"Well first and foremost. how the hell did you know my name! Something that I didn't, if you're a conglomeration of my thoughts wouldn't that mean you also wouldn't know."
It was so silent that a pin could drop and the whole town could hear it. The voice was gone. He went somewhere deep in my subconscious hiding almost.
*Why was I created by a second rate being. Even the simplest mind could figure out that I was here before you lost our memories. But it's not so bad, something good came from it. He realized his power just in the nick of time, we're not "Subpar".*
He was coming back, I could feel him moving back from my subconscious into the foreground.
"Well, if you think about it and, I mean really walk through it. Don't you think that I came before the loss of your memories. I mean wouldn't that make sense."
This thing was right but, it still doesn't make sense where we are and how we got here.
*Look outside and see, I mean we lived here with our family for.. *
*15 years.*
I started to walk towards what looked like a door. The hinges were cracked unnaturally.
Like something or someone used a hammer to smash a nail where there wasn't a hole.
*Yes, you're catching up, since we've been alive.*
*Again with the we. How long have you been with me? Like, did you appear when I was born.*
Looking through the door it was utter chaos. What seemed to be a small little town was destroyed. Cars were flipped upside down and buildings were in shambles.
*Bram are you that stupid. No. I came to be when enough of your thoughts accumulated. We went over this, didn't you take notes. For most it should be around well, 15 for everyone, then when your birthday passes you become eligible for the awakening. That's whe-*
*Stop, back up a bit. Awakening.*
Backing up a bit it felt like Mike Tyson hit me in my stomach. Everything was gone, air, my feet from under me, and everything that was eye level.
*FUCK* *FUCK*
*Okay, thoughts, what just happened?*
*Well Bram, that was a memory or, actually sorrow because of a memory.*
He sounded winded like something similar happened to him. Like he's not just some ethereal being living in my head. He's me and I'm him. The only thing is, why am I such a dick head.
*Also bram, I have a name. Its marb I know cliche. But, it is what I'm called. So can you not call me thoughts or dickhead, it'd be much appreciated.*
Rolling my eyes I tried getting up without putting pressure on my arm. Slowly but surely I was back on my feet. The feeling from before still lingered though.
*Okay back to the awoken thing what does that mean.*
*Being awakened means that both your thoughts and the power that was dwelling inside of you are being released.*
*Why do they co-inside during the event?*
*Easy question to answer, I'm your conduit. Or well thoughts are the conduits of said powers, no matter how strong or weak they seem.*
*Basically you're a ... umm, you know what I'm thinking of, right?*
*Jesus Christ you really are a fucking idiot. Yes I'm like a lightning rod.*
Taking in a deep breath I actually walked outside my house if you can even call it that. Immediately after my foot stepped outside of the room I was in, all the debri the ropes were holding came crashing down. Besides the roof or the lack thereof, every side of the home had some sort of crack on it. And the plant life. The plant life is basically keeping the windows and floor in place. It's honestly surprising I survived here for so long.
*Yes the town of Draeford is pretty well, pretty dreadful.*
*Hah, it's so funny I forgot to laugh.*
