Immediately he left, the invisible laser beam barrier became visible and a huge gate dropped from the top, entrapping Dev and Ann further.
Just when felt that it couldn't get any worse, they felt the ground start to move downwards.
It was similar to an elevator but they felt like they were sinking into the ground instead, as they saw the huge gate and room gradually leave their vision and be replaced with a body of water.
Surrounded by electric laser beams and a body of water, Ann knew they were in deep trouble.
Squatting next to the panting Dev, she held his shoulders, "Boss, we are going to be electrocuted to death here!"
That was what she thought, as true as it was but she didn't know, Jeremy had more in store for them.
Staring at her face which was enlarged and blurry in his vision, Dev couldn't hear a thing she said, he was dizzy and also felt really uncomfortable.
Not getting any response from him, Ann was about to check Dev's stomach and see if she could stop the spread of the poison. She wasn't a doctor but she had a shallow idea about poisons.
However, she also didn't want Jeremy's surprise gift, which she knew was definitely not a good thing.
She was just about to unbutton his shirt, when Dev suddenly pounced on her making her scream.
Outside the basement,
Jeremy was leaning on the metal gate, tapping his feet on the ground like he was expecting or waiting for something.
Hearing Ann's scream, he smirked, "She got her gift." He had to wait to ensure that Ann got her gift as well cause she was kind of the main culprit.
'Carrying out an experiment on Penny, those two are as good as dead mice', he thought as he walked and encountered Damian's unconscious form on the stone path.
"Now, to get the mole." Stepping over him, Jeremy stretched and trudged into the winds that was already tapering.
He knew Dev didn't mention anything about anyone helping him but to be able to carry out an almost foolproof plan and nearly getting away with it, he'd most definitely need the help of an insider.
Although he knew Davis would have already figured out that there was a mole in Platinum Valleys, he obviously wasn't in the mood to find out about it.
He, himself also had someone in mind but he wasn't too sure about it. As Jeremy thought about this, he headed towards the Director's office to search for clues.
Winters Laboratory,
Davis and Thomas came across the keepers and the armed men at the entrance of Winters, helping and carrying the women and children out of the rooms.
Seeing the children being carried out in a sorry state, crying and begging for their parents, Davis gritted his teeth and walked briskly up the stairs and into the foyer.
He had no idea how Penny was feeling at that point in time.
Pressing an elevator button repeatedly, he nervously got onto one and headed for the sixth floor, leaving Thomas and the swaying S3 behind.
Shaking his head, Thomas dropped S3 at a corner and ordered some men to search amongst the children and around the premises for Penny, he still had no clue that Davis had been told where Penny was kept.
While the others were sent to find and catch any of the silver guards located on Platinum Valleys using drone cameras, which were invented by Jeremy.
Taking a drone controller from Matéo who stood next to him, he zoomed in using the camera feature and realised that the drone was now sending a live feed from the borders.
Zooming in further, he found several men in silver shirts walking around the border and locked in their location.
After receiving other locations from the men who were also using drone cameras, he dispatched several men to the site, making sure they were armed properly, especially the non-mutants as they were the majority of Platinum Valleys.
When Thomas followed Davis and Jeremy from The Cube, he had always wondered why Davis allowed non-mutants into Platinum Valleys and even training them as would mutants do.
These people would round them up and sell them out if they ever discovered their secret without blinking an eye.
This he knew, from a previous experience.
He was young, around 17 at that time and was given a mission to scout for information on the mainland. Teamed up with the equally teenaged Davis and Jeremy, they were sent to help 'Essence', a subsidiary of The Cube that was just gaining a foothold on the mainland.
During his time there, he made a new non-mutant friend and proud as he was about being a mutant, he shared his identity to whom he thought loved him to the moon and back, only to be given the cold shoulder.
But she didn't just give him the cold shoulder, she ratted him out to some multinational science organisation and before he knew it, he was surrounded by people who wanted to either inquire on how he became a mutant or if it was true, while others came to watch a show.
He still remembered their curiosity and the way some people looked at him like he was a freak or a novelty, others, with fear and disgust in their eyes.
The mission that time was ended abruptly because of him and if it weren't for Davis that saved him from the hands of those scientists and 'Essence' who pulled some strings to fake his death, he'd have been locked up in one of those science labs and torn apart, limb by limb.
Thinking back to that hateful gaze he received when he revealed his identity, he was grateful that The Cube spread it's tentacles onto the mainland, making his death look real or he wouldn't have been able to forgive himself for putting The Cube at risk.
Knowing those nosy humans, they would have tried to figure out his origin and consequently discover and meddle in the affairs of The Cube.
Releasing a breath he didn't know he held, he continued to oversee operations in Winters extending to the whole of Platinum Valleys, considering that Davis, the leader, wasn't available to assume his position.
After providing them with enough mutant-resistant weapons, also courtesy of Jeremy, he sent the men to the Platinum Valleys border where the rest of the silver men were present.
"Matéo, Ralph, Kiel, go after those kids. Take this and bring those maniacs back alive, especially the one with the number 6 on his shirt. I believe we have a special connection." Thomas smiled and said to the three keepers as he threw rods imbued with a special energy which could make any mutant useless.
"The GPS tracker here, shows they're headed for the Frozen Cave, block all routes leading to it." he continued as he handed them a tablet which displayed four blinking cursors on the screen.
'Looks like Jeremy's silly experiment wasn't useless after all.' he thought with a smirk on his face as he recollected how he tried to prevent Jeremy from installing probiotic GPS trackers on each child in Platinum Valleys.
'But he had to, that crazy guy implanted them in their foods for Pete's sake!'
Collecting the tab and seeing the keepers run off into the distance, Thomas was intending to meet Davis on the sixth floor when he was called halfway.
"Sir T, uhm...who is Penny? How does he or she look like?" one of the men, a non-mutant asked sheepishly as she scratched the back of his unkempt hair.
'What?'
