At Winters basement,
Hearing the alarm-like sound, Davis who was about to approach the electric laser beam stopped and looked towards the sound while Jeremy's eyes widened in shock, 'Who triggered the alarms all at once? I hope it's not what I'm thinking, Timmy...'
His thoughts were however interrupted by a strange occurrence.
The mechanism that controlled the electric laser beam was deactivated.
It happened in just a millisecond and wasn't obvious but Davis and Jeremy were able to detect the anomaly.
They couldn't feel the energy emanating from the barrier anymore.
Looking at Dev, Ann and Damian who still had their ears covered with their eyes shut due to the impact of the sound, Davis and Jeremy glanced at themselves in shock.
Although, the sound was indeed ear-piercing, it was not a problem for the people of Platinum Valleys.
This was because, from the number of times Jeremy and Timmy tried different viruses and sound wave experiments, it was a blessing that they weren't deaf yet.
However, although it didn't turn them deaf, it made them become less sensitive to earsplitting sounds.
But this case was slightly different for Davis and Jeremy, after all ,they were high levelled mutants.
After the sound stopped, Dev yelled at Damian, "Go and check out why there's such a loud sound, fool! Do I also need to tell you this?!"
Snapping his head up, Damian glared at Dev before hurrying out of the basement while grumbling under his breath about how Dev insulted him.
"And bring S6, 7 & 8 along with you!", He yelled after Damian.
Damian who heard Dev's command stood outside the large metal door and glared at Dev one last time before making his way to Winters entrance.
He noticed how dark the place was, so he looked up at the sky and was shocked by the sudden change in weather.
Using his hands to protect his face from the particles and dust flying around, he hurried on his way to the laboratory whilst cursing under his breath.
Taking a deep breath, Dev looked at Ann and after making sure she was alright, he turned his attention back to his 'prisoners'.
Just few seconds ago, he saw Davis about to lose his temper but then the 'alarm' happened, so he was expecting to still see him disgruntled.
However, what greeted his sight was Davis standing leisurely with his hands in his pocket having a calm look on his face while Jeremy had a smirk on.
"Is there anything else you'd like to say Dev?" This time it was Davis that broke the ice, surprisingly.
Amazed that Davis called him by his self-acclaimed name, Dev had his mouth hung open before he sneered, "Nothing much, it's just that I'm leaving for The Cube soon and you'll have to come with me."
"Oh? Why, praytell?" Davis asked with a smile on his face as he humoured Dev.
"What do you mean by why? Of course, it's to star in my parade and show Father the game I captured, kept and....killed," Dev said with his eyes shining, referring to Davis and Jeremy as the 'game'.
"....and maybe, just maybe possibly get a reward in form of a position or.....a valley or... both?" he continued with a huge smile on his face. He was obviously talking about The Cube and Platinum Valleys.
Somehow, watching how Davis and Jeremy were suddenly relaxed gave Ann a dangerous feeling.
Looking at the door, she hoped for Damian and the 3 guards to show up quickly.
Seeing Dev so into himself, oblivious to his impending doom, Jeremy chuckled.
If only he realised he was being played at the moment by Davis.
There was nothing separating them, so they were literally in the same space now.
Shocked out of his greedy fantasy by Jeremy's chuckle, Dev turned to hear him say, "Albert, Albert, to say you're dumb is really an understatement to the word 'dumb'."
"And to think I thought of you as a swan. Tsk tsk...such a pity." Jeremy sighed as he shook his head.
Dev was about to blow his top off when he heard the name Albert but his anger was soon replaced by his curiosity, 'Swan? What swan?'
He was just going to ask when he felt a sharp pain in his stomach and everything went blur.
