Chapter 8 - (6) Hands who needs hands? Oh wait...

*Third person*

The next day Kuriki awoke, she went out of her makeshift tent to see Rio in a pile of Cabbage like food. She scratched her head and walked towards Rio. Sleeping peacefully, Kuriki smiled and pluck one of his feathers. Rio groan and shifted in his sleep. Kuriki then proceed to use his feather to tickle his beak, which in turn made Rio sneeze. Groggily, Rio awoke slowly to see Kuriki smiling at him.

"Good morning Rio, so mind telling me why there are bags of cabbages around you"

Rio shuffled uncomfortably 'Well I was hungry and find these somewhere'

Surprised Kuriki looked around side to side to find out if anyone was nearby. Kuriki then look at Rio and asked "Did you just talk?"

Rio rolled his eyes 'no of course not, I am just a big silver bird and this is all a dream'

Kuriki stared at Rio "You could talk this entire time..."

'well actually I am telepathically speaking to you, unless of course you want to hear me say *Kweh Kweh Kweh Kweh...*'

"Okay you can stop I get it" Kuriki then pointed to the food that Rio obtained "mind telling me how and where you get these."

Rio thought for a minute and took his chances "I have one of those spatial storage things"

"They are called Dimension storage, me and Kida has one. So I am assuming that you are hungry? and brought out food for yourself" asked Kuriki skeptically

Rio nodded. Kuriki Smiled "Well then..." as Kuriki picked up one of the bags and ripped it open.

"You want it." as she waved the food around Rio.

'I am not a pet just give it to me' Rio glared

"Sit Rio, come on boy sit" Kuriki commanded, while still waving the Gysahl Greens in front of Rio.

Rio deadpanned 'Seriously...'

Kuriki Pouted "Fine here." as she throws it onto Rio. "I will go prepare myself something to eat" as she walks off near the campfire that she placed and use her dimension storage to pull out a water crystal. She then proceed to put the water crystal into a pot that quickly fills. She then later put the pot on top of the fire place and reach back into the dimension storage to grab a fire crystal, which in turn lit the fire place. All of this was done in front of Rio who is currently showered with Gysahl Greens thrown from Kuriki.

Kuriki looked at Rio who is staring at her "what is wrong? you are not eating your food"

Rio Stared at her 'you threw it at me and now it is on the ground'

Kuriki rolled her eyes "so... you should not have any problems eating off the ground"

Rio looked at the ground and thought for a moment. Until, eventually, he bend down and ate part of the Gysahl Greens.

Kuriki decided to ask "are you gonna eat the rest of these?"

Rio replied with a mouthful of Greens 'no why?'

"Well I forgot to pack some meat and usually Kida is the one doing all the cooking so... yea." answered Kuriki

'sure go ahead' as Rio continue eating his Gysahl Greens that is on the ground.

*20 minutes later...*

'So mind telling me how you set up that camp so quickly? asked Rio

The two are walking along through the forest continuing their journey to Iron Haven.

"Well, I have a full set of camping equipment inside the dimension storage that I can easily get it out" Simply answered.

Rio stared at Kuriki 'How are you even able to do that, It is like bring a whole house with you'

"Oh yea that is also possible as well but you need to be really strong to do that... no wait actually they have an item that you can use to shrink a house and put inside a cube. I forgot what the name is though"

Rio gave up trying to follow up with the things the world works. As Kuriki continue to shower Rio information upon information until Kuriki asked a dreadful question.

"By the way why were you in the Stone Dungeon? and what are you?" asked Kuriki.

Rio thought about what answer he should give, then said 'Well I traveled from a faraway land to find a place to settle down, also I am called a silver chocobo.'

"Are their more of you out there?"

Rio looked at Kuriki and shrug with his flightless feathers 'I do not really know, I might be the only one'

They continue to walk until they saw a stone wall. Two guards dressed in a suit of glowing armor who are positioned on either side of the entrance, as well archers on top of the walls; patrolling and watching for any monsters.

"Well we are finally here" announced Kuriki.

*Rio POV*

One word; impressive. Like any other checkpoints they have a line... A very long line. I am also surprise to see a dwarf, an elf and humans with dog ears, cat ears... rabbit ears too. That is a very diverse of species. Me and Kuriki are walking past them though, and getting all these stares are not calming my nerves. Especially when I started to hear them whisper among themselves here are some things I have heard; What is that big white bird, I think that bird is with that captain, I want a mount like that it is better then these horses I bet it is even faster, mommy can I have one...

I felt someone touch me and jumped. Realizing that Kuriki was the one who tap me.

"You okay?" Kuriki asked

I nervously nodded.

"Hey do not worry, once they get used to you being here they would stop looking at you" Kuriki tried to comfort me.

'Sure, not like they would try to pet me or anything right?' I asked no in particular.

I nodded to not raise any suspicion that I could talk telepathically.

As we skip the line and walked towards the front. Both guards saluted.

"Captain Kuriki nice to see you ma'am" said on of the armed guards.

"At ease, I have an important delivery to address. Also this is Rio...." she looked at me and smiled "my mount, notify every guard that no one is to disturb him unless he gives them permission. Is that understood." I regret coming here that is all she thought about a mount, I am just a mount to her. As I saw both the guards salute with a yes captain, we enter the so called village.

This is not what I had in mind for a village. Stalls, houses, and a pavement road! you are joking right this is not a village at all. This is like a city build inside the huge wall. Even the streets if you can call it that, is a buzz with activity. Carts rolling, shopkeepers no matter the species selling their goods. It is like a utopia city fit for everyone. As we continue to walk to our destination I see more buildings; A school, clothing shops, weapon shops, armor shops, and they even have a flower shop. Guards are even seen helping other species with problems. They also have a church like structure with a sun symbol.

'You called this a village, it looks more like to me a Utopian city' I said in awe.

Kuriki Giggled "Now do not called it that, sure everything looks perfect but there are crimes in this village"

I deadpanned 'this is not a village.'

Kuriki looked at me "All right a town"

'Not even close' I reply.

Kuriki ignored me, and continue walking. Fine be that way.

After another few minutes of walking we reach a building called Office depot. Kuriki turned around and told me to stay outside while she writes a letter to the Royal commissions office and the Adventurers guild for a summoner. So I was left alone outside. Every species doing their own business until an elf, who is carrying a stack of books and wearing a decorative robe, pass by me and fell. In the process dropped the entire stack of books onto the floor. That gave me an idea. Since I am in a new world I might as well start learning what the books might offer.

As I was thinking the elf cough, I looked at him and tilted my head.

"Would you mind helping me get all these books to the library?" he asked me.

I am sort of surprised that he even asked me. I guess that is what happens when you tilt your head, which is a sign of intelligence. So I nodded.

"Thanks here let me strap some of these books to your back"

As I see him stacking the books one by one, he then place the stack of books on my back and roped it around the midsection of my body.

"Follow me." he said.

So I followed him to the library. And once we reach our designation, what I saw would put a normal library to shame. With a decorate entrance, and a sign written on it; Haven Library. Glass pane windows featuring on each side. Flower beds to give that welcoming look as well.

Entering the library I see kids, and other species reading books. It is also very quiet. Typical for a library.

"Thanks you can leave them at the counter" he said

I stared at him in mute silence. He looked at me and gave me an "Oh yea" look. Once he finished unstrapping me he gave his thanks and told me I can go back now. So instead I looked around a bit.

That is when I realized one thing...

'How am I gonna read a book with no hands?'
