The description of the skill was very eye catching. If one learned the skill, they would be able to tread softly like a feather with nimble and steady movement.
No extra movement was used while treading and he would be faster than others of the same age while running and it would even save the energy for the extra movement which would usually go to waste. With no mana required, it was definitely a good skill for current him who had hybrid mana.
If practiced to the limit, it was bound to be good for him in front of strong opponents in the wilderness. After all, if he couldn't beat them or was no match for them then he could simply run away. And he wasn't some dude who had sworn that he would fight with every last strength he had, so if there was a chance then he would just run away if he was no match for the opponent.
First came life and then came other as being strong and earning money.
He then turned the page and was left dumbfounded. His mouth opened agape and no words left his mouth. What the heck was this? In the first page, only one sentence was written and it was peculiar.
"Run like a dog for about five hundred miles as if your life depends on it?"
What bullsh*t was this? If he were to understand the sentence as to run as if his life depended on it for five hundred miles, then it was fine but what if it literally meant what was written in the page.
What if it wanted him to run on four legs with his tongue sticking out of his mouth as drool was dripping of it just like a dog? Just imagining himself in that position was too eye blinding and was enough to make his face turn grim.
Haha...it must be a prank. The writer must have written this to prank the reader in the first page so that it wouldn't end up in wrong hands...right? Let's take a look at another page.
Fwip-
He turned another page as to find the real skill.
Fwip-
Fwip-
Fwip-
Fwio-
Run like a horse...
Run like a cheetah...
Walk like a cat...
For half a minute, the room was filled with the sound of turning pages again and again.
SLAM!
SWOOOOOSH!
He slammed the book down in anger and a ball of flame appeared on his hand.
"I'll just burn this garbage!"
It was like a torture for him to see that his hard earned skill turned out be like this. Run like a dog? Run like a pig? Walk like a cat? Was the writer playing pranks on him or something? If the writer was indeed pulling a prank then Oslo didn't find it funny. He completed the quest just for this pile of garbage?
But even if he angry to the limit, he couldn't bring himself to burn it, after all he had worked very hard to earn it. He wanted to get rid of it but he didn't want to just burn it as if nothing.
He then dissipated the flame in his hand when an idea suddenly popped up in his head. He then laughed evilly on his own idea.
'I'll just exchange this garbage with another skill with somebody in Magic Land.'
With that, the problem regarding the skill book was over. He then kept the book and the dagger that was hanging on his waist to the table that was roughly done in and started focusing on another problem.
As if meditating, he controlled his mana flow inside his body and a smile was formed on his face.
"Not bad, about sixty percent of the mana flowing inside my body has become sky blue in color."
"But it is not enough. I guess I'll have to go on another quest so as to turn it to whole and I'll go on an adventure with a little more of difficulty."
And now came another problem which he wanted to fix at all cost. He had being seeing others auras while quite a while and he was eager to know if he could control it as he wished. If he couldn't then...Oslo was ready to gauge his eyes out.
It wasn't like he didn't want to see others aura...it also helped a lot but, it was just that seeing the aura of every living being he came across had been a pain for him.
He was fed up looking at the thousands of auras they was emitted by each and every trees he had passed while he came back from Nagar forest and he didn't want to see every living aura. It was just getting annoying and hindering his focus. So, that was why he wanted to control this prowess his eyes possessed.
Slowly closing his eyes...he focused all his being towards his eyes...and only eyes.
...
"Hey, wake up!"
A voice rang in his ears while he had closed his eyes. Slowly, he opened his eyes a little when he found someone shaking him again.
Don't tell me that its a weird dream again? But this time, what woke him wasn't a voice of a female...so there was still hope. He didn't want to live in that cursed dream again. He sighed in his heart and opened his eyes in a flash.
Seeing his brother in front of him, he couldn't help but form a smile.
But Richard expression was somewhat resembled a shocked person. He was waking his brother up and that sudden opening of those eyes made him startle a bit. But he composed himself and said,
"Since you were like this, I have already cleaned the house and..."
Growl~
Richard came to a abrupt pause when he heard noises Oslo's stomach was making.
"Do you want something to eat first?" Ric asked.
Growl~
Before Oslo could answer, his stomach already had. Ric then brought a plate filled with fried rice from the kitchen and handed it to Oslo.
Without any sort of etiquette, he dug upon the rice and found out that the rice was indeed the cooking of Aunt Yi. Because as before, the rice was oily as hell, so there was no doubt about it. After all, she had won the worst chef award in food competition held by the committee in the past. But for someone hungry, it was delicious all the same.
The volume of oil was greater than that of rice and even the spoon had became oily. He then while munching, glanced at the surrounding.
It had already gotten dark and it was tube light what had lighted their house.
"You came home this late?" He said as he glanced at the clock hung in the wall which had a rooster figure atop of it, "It is 8 O'clock already."
"I came late?" Ric looked at Oslo and said, "I came here at four but seeing you meditating like that, I didn't disturb you but who knew that you were just sleeping and not meditating. Didn't you seel weird sleeping in a position such as that? If I had known earlier that you were just taking a nap while sitting then I would have woken you up already."
"Haha..." Oslo made an awkward laugh which caused some of the grains to spill the the ground.
"Don't laugh. It is only adding the work." Ric said.
"...Sorry."
Ric then sat in the floor in front of Oslo and asked, "I heard that you said that I can do as I wish. Is that right?"
"Um..." Oslo nodded.
"Then what do you think of me becoming an adventurer?"
"No!" Oslo shook his head without hesitation.
"But didn't you say that I could do as I please?" Ric asked.
"Um..." Oslo nodded, "But becoming an adventurer this early would only harm you more than getting profit. Beside you don't know how to use magic."
"Then why did you become an adventurer at the age of six?" Ric asked.
"The situation that time was different from the situation we're in right now." Oslo said, "Besides, going on an adventurer is a man's romance."
Wait? What? Ric was confused upon hearing it and in confusion, he tilted his head and asked, "Brother, are you saying that I'm not a man?"
"Not yet..." Oslo shook his head, "And you won't become one till you know how to use magic."
"Sigh~" Ric sighed as he couldn't say anything right now to change his mind. He then said, "Then can't we at least take help from Aunt Yi and Uncle John for paying the debt? If you agree, they wouldn't say no."
"Debt? It is already paid." Oslo said solemnly.
"Already paid? Who paid it?" Ric was taken in by a shock.
"I..." Oslo said finishing the rice and keeping the plate down as he wiped the oil from his lips.
"You paid it?" Ric didn't believe him. The debt that haunted them for ten years which only invited suffering and ire was paid just like that? He couldn't believe it. He then went on and said,
"Brother, have you involved yourself in some bad line of work?"
From what Ric knew, the only way to get fast wealth was going rogue from the path of good. If he didn't involve himself in some bad work then how was he able to pay such huge amount of money in such small frame of time.
But seeing Oslo not minding much, he didn't inquire any further although he was worried for his brother. He knew that even if his brother involved himself in bad works, then it would be for him. Sometimes, he felt like he shouldn't have been born...if he wasn't then his brother would have lived a happy life.
But leaving a brother such as that was even more painful for him. He didn't know what to do sometimes. Seeing Ric's grim face, Oslo knew what he was thinking and he also noticed that he wasn't seeing aura anymore.
The brother who was only about the size of his chest and had a normal, not too fancy clothing had no aura whatsoever...or, was I able to control it on will.
He then focused on the figure of his brother and with only a thought of his, he could see his brother's aura which was shaking a bit. He as expected could now control the prowess as he wished and it made him happy. With a smile, he looked at Ric and said,
"Don't worry about me. I'm not involved in bad works and works that are same in line. So, I'll be fine."
"Who is worried about your sorry a*s!" Ric shouted on impulse but it was obvious that he was relieved and happy. There was a smile on his face and he wasn't shuddering anymore, so there was no way that he wasn't happy.
But...
"Who the heck taught you to talk like that to your brother? Tell me and I'll reduce your punishment." Oslo said.
"Hahaha..." Ric' mouth twitched as he had just shouted it on impulse. He then immediately changed the subject looking at Oslo,
"I was wandering about it from the moment you woke up but why is your eyes golden?"
"Oh," Oslo had thought that if he could control the prowess then this golden eyes of his would disappear and would return to his normal eye color but it seemed that he had guessed wrong and the change that had been done to his eyes was permanent.
"This is because of the skill I practice."
