When Saki regained consciousness, he found himself in the wilderness. The air is cleaner than the one Saki knew and there were more greeneries than normal. He is sure that he is transported somewhere, but where? He doesn't know. He tried contacting the rest of his team, but it seemed that the communicator doesn't work.
"Weird…" Saki murmured to himself as he tried his other gadget. "Radar…. Jammed. Online database… not working…" he is getting worried as more of his gadget failed him. He tried checking his storage ring and a relieved sigh escaped his lips. "At least, the most important items worked. If you're not working… I might be in trouble," he said to the ring, as if the ring is an animated object.
The ring is where he stored the formula, and the pills which he nabbed from their excursion before. "Guess, mission failed then… Maybe we shouldn't have tried to do more than what we're told. I'm sorry, father… I failed."
Saki walked around and noticed how deep in a forest he is. Almost half a day passed and he finally reached the outskirt of a village. But Saki didn't enter. This is because the village seemed to be set in a feudal era. And if he were to enter, he would become the centre of the attention with his clothing. So, he waited until it was dark.
He took a nap and when it was finally dark, he opened his eyes and stealthily, he went inside the village. The streets were empty at the outskirt of the village. And the only light illuminating the streets are the moonlight, which barely helping Saki. So, he took out his torch to light his way. He tried to figure out where he is, and when.
He had already figured out that he is not in his current time and that he had travelled back in time. But the problem is he doesn't know when.
He kept on walking around, surveying the area and making a mental map of the village. But as time passes by, Saki noticed that he's not in a village, but instead, a city. After a few hours, the silence of the night was broken by a lone scream. Curious, Saki went to the source, making sure he was still hidden, and not seen.
When he reached the source, all he sees is a dead body of a male and fresh blood is pooling around it. Saki looked around and when he saw no one else, he approached the body. But as he got close, the hands shot up and grabbed Saki by the wrist. Apparently, the person whom Saki thought had kicked the bucket is still alive, though barely. But now Saki is panicking. This man had clearly seen him when the male is looking up at him.
Saki stared at him, and his conscience is telling him to save him. He could, but that would mean he must use the pill on the injured man. His dilemma was put to stop when Saki suddenly heard several footsteps. He tried to remove the male's hold on him, but, despite dying, the man is not losing in term of strength. In the end, Saki shoved the pill into the male's mouth and forced him to swallow it.
"There! You'll live! Now let me go!!" he hissed and since he knew the male will be fine, he roughly pulled his hand away. But it was too late, Saki was already seen.
"What are you doing over there?!" one of them called out. Some of them were holding a torch. Saki could make out their blue haori and the jagged mountain patterns. Saki knows them, and he also knows how deep in trouble he is. A blunder, that might've costs him his life.
"Relax," the person who held his wrist before told him. The pill had finished its work and he was already fully healed. He stood up and walked over to the group, and he dragged Saki along. "You are late, boys. The body are back there, go and clean it up," he said to the group who quickly got to work. Saki was a little shocked and confused as to what is happening.
"Captain, who's the kid?" one of them asked. Now Saki knew who it was that he saved. This, could either be Saki's hope, or his demise.
"A friend," the male replied and Saki lets out a relieved sigh. "Don't worry about him. He won't cause you harm," he added calmly but, the hold on Saki's wrists tighten. It was as if he didn't want to ever let him go. "I will go back to headquarter now. Dawn will be upon us. Clean up, get back to headquarter and rest."
When they are finally alone, the male pinned Saki to one of the stone wall by his neck. "Alright… who are you?" he asked in a very dangerous tone. "No… better question… What are you?"
"What…? I'm a human!" Saki answered. He's starting to panic, and the hold on his throat is suffocating him.
"No human can do this! What did you give me?!" the male hissed as he showed Saki the now, healed wound on his chest. "No medicine should be able to heal that kind of injury so quickly…" his eyes now have a very dangerous glint in it.
Saki grits his teeth and he took out one of his remaining flash grenade, which now reduced to two, and threw it to the ground. He closed his eyes and even then, he could hear those ringing sound. He felt the male release him and he took that moment to run. He kept on running until he was back at the forest. Even then, he did not stop. He kept on going until he was sure that they are not going to chase him. By that time, he was out of breath. He didn't know how far he had gone, but just to be even more safe, Saki decided to climb up a tree and sleeps there for the rest of the night.
