" I'll ask someone to prepare a plane for us to go to A nation to meet my parents. Should I call them tonight and tell them I'll bring back my fiancée?"
Mu Zihan took his phone on the bedside table and readied to dial his mother's number.
" No, no, no! I can't go. I have work to do tomorrow." Ai Lin quickly took the phone from his hand and threw it to the other end of the bed. She was so scared that she almost peed herself.
He frown and stared at her, dissatisfied. " What work?"
" That.. You know I already stay here for two months and I haven't even take a step out from your courtyard yet. My work has piled up and my clients urge me to have my work done as soon as possible or else I've to compensate them. I'm not rich so how can I compensate all of them? Thus, I need to go to work tomorrow."
Ai Lin was flustered. Hence, she blurted out whatever things that came on her mind. However, it was not completely a lie. She told him half truth-half lie.
The truth were she really hadn't took a step out yet and she had a pile of tasks that needed her attention. The lie was her clients didn't urge her to complete the job, but demanded her to compensate them as she was far behind the dateline. On top of that, she also already spent a huge sum of money to compensate them. Although she wasn't completely broke right now, but her heart pained for the money used to compensate her clients.
" I'll give you the money."
" Huh?"
" I'll give you the money to compensate them so you don't need to work anymore. I can afford to provide you."
Ai Lin was flabbergasted and at the same time was in fury. Was he too rich that he wanted to pay all the compensations? If yes, why he didn't volunteer from earlier so she could save her money. Now it's all too late! Moreover, did he just asked her to stop working?!
" No way! I love my work and I'll not stop doing it."
" Darling, your line of work involves a lot of dangers. You may attract unknown enemies if you keep working in this line. What if you get into an accident? I can't bear to see you injure and suffer. My heart will be in a lot of pain then."
Ai Lin silenced.
Indeed, there would be a lot of dangers lurking around her if she kept working in this line. Even the last assassinate attempt on her was still unsolved. She had not figure out who was the mastermind behind her accident. It might be the unknown enemy she attracted during her work just like he said.
" Then, if I stop working in this line you won't have any objection?" She asked hesitantly.
Mu Zihan nodded happily and said, " Of course."
" Okay, I'll stop doing this kind of work but you must wire the money for all the compensations. You have to compensate me as well as I don't have a source of income anymore."
In her heart, Ai Lin laughed devilishly. Being a private investigator was not her main job so it's not a big deal to her. The thing that made her happier was that she managed to get back all the money she'd spent. Should she increase the amount and took a little bit profit from him? Maybe as a compensation for her resignation of her position as a private investigator?
" Give me your account number and the amount of money. Or should I transfer the money directly to your clients' account?"
Mu Zihan took back his phone and opened a banking app on his phone.
" No, no, no. You can just transfer the money to my account and I'll settle it myself. I don't want my clients misunderstand me and take me as an irresponsible person." Ai Lin said seriously. She forced herself to not laugh and showed him an earnest and determine look.
Then she gave him her account number and stated the amount. Of course, the amount she told him was two times more than the amount of actual sum she'd spent to compensate her clients.
" I had transferred the money. So tomorrow we will go to meet my parents."
Ai Lin who was in a joyous and gleeful mode was stunned. All her happiness vanished in a second. She stared at Mu Zihan with a horrified look.
" You are joking right?"
" No, I'm serious. I have texted my mother just now but she hasn't reply yet. Maybe she has fallen asleep."
Ignoring her stupefied look, Mu Zihan pulled Ai Lin into the bed and laid down beside her while hugging her into his bosom. He kept blabbering his plan for tomorrow and told her about his parents with a happy smile plastered on his handsome face.
As for Ai Lin, she couldn't hear anything Mu Zihan said. The words ' meet my parents' kept repeating in her mind and that made her lose her sleep on that particular night.
