Chapter 71 - Chapter 71: From foe to friend?

Keana Blakes suddenly felt a chill down her spine at seeing the red-haired girl eyeing her with a terrifying look that could murder her at where she currently stands.

With a sweat gracing forth slowly on her anxious look, Keana is now unsure if initiating a fight with this chick is a good idea.

Of course oblivious by the redhead's shady intentions, Keana, with a strengthened resolve, decided its unbecoming of her to back off from the fight since its not her thing to just give up like that. She stood firmly on her ground, staring at Mors with an unyielding and stubborn expression.

At seeing the violet-haired girl who refuses to give up, Mors was slightly caught off guard by the look of utmost determination that Keana is channeling on her. In fact, you could say that Mors is a bit impressed by how passionate the girl with violet hair is.

In a way, the violet-haired girl kind of reminds of her twin sister, Mania as that bundle of joy can sometimes take things too far in the things she loves, all for the sake of bloodshed.

It is pretty obvious in Mors' violet eyes that this violet-haired girl whatsoever truly loves the book that both of them are struggling for ownership.

Still, the violet-haired girl is still on Mors' way of acquiring her all-time favorite book right on her very hands.

If she can't read such a divine adult masterpiece that must be crafted by the Gods, then no one can.

As the two resume their bantering of ownership once more, the girls were suddenly interrupted by a man and a girl's voice talking with one another.

"I told you, Dad, Keana is not here."

"I don't know Jane, you look awfully suspicious today."

Keana's amber eyes instantly widen as she recognizes the voices all too well.

'Crap is that the freaking old man?!!' Keana thought in an absolute panic, her heart skipping as she instantly releases her grasp from the book, much to Mors' utter confusion. 'Jane told me that he won't be back for another day or two!! Oh this is really, really bad!!'

In a frantic way of movement, Keana suddenly grab Mors' free hand much to the redhead's baffled look. "Listen, I don't have time to explain but if we are caught, then we are definitely screwed."

Before Mors could even question Keana of her bizarre actions, the latter quickly dashes off together with the former as Keana never let go of Mors' hand, dragging the redhead in the whole process.

At first, Keana's intentions were for them to get out of here unnoticed, in the very hope that Jane's father won't catch them.

But her hopes are immediately shattered into pieces.

A guard was seen being stationed just right before the exit, obviously in cahoots with the old man as he is on a vigilant lookout for any violators and people who are less than 18 years of age.

As Mors was trying to process what is going on, Keana, knowing every corner of the place, retreats in an instant now that her first plan is out of the question.

Then, Keana remembers a peculiar place, a storage room that also happens to be in this section. She knows it because Jane at one time has shown her hidden collection of rare books inside for Keana to marvel upon.

After navigating themselves sneakily, both of them now find themselves in a secluded place, a very small and cramp room for storing old books and magazines.

Opening the door, Keana went inside first followed by Mors who was pulled forcefully in a comical manner.

As a result, we find both girls' bodies pressing against each other as they sat down. Mors is seen to be leaning on Keana's front, the latter with her arms wrapped around the former's waist closely, much to the Mors' definite unliking.

"Too tight." Mors was definitely unamused by all of this, especially at the action of this stranger who just grabs her out of nowhere and led her to a hidden spot that the violet-haired girl all too suspiciously knows.

"Shh!" Keana berated the redhead quietly. "Just bear with it, please. I don't like this as much as you do. The voice that you heard is the owner of the bookstore and his daughter. If the old man finds out that underage teenagers like us are here in the Adult section, then we are definitely going to be in big trouble. Tsk, stationing a guard on the exit, that damn old man is smarter than I give credit to."

Mors, now understanding the situation more or less, answered Keana with a deep sigh in return. "I see. Very well, I'll cooperate with you… for now."

Even if Mors does not like it even a bit, it would also be best if she won't be attracting any unnecessary attention while she's here in the city.

Being caught carelessly just because of being tempted by smut? If the stranger with violet hair can help her, then perhaps it would be convenient.

Besides, if Mania hears about this, then Mors definitely wouldn't hear the very end of it.

The last thing that she wants is to give her sister the sick satisfaction.

Keana merely grinned heartily in response, relieved that the redhead as agreed with her for the time being.

As the waiting game commences, Keana at the heat of the moment, bask upon the lovely scent of aroma that Mors has been emitting, causing the former to blush at how pleasant-smelling she is.

'Wow, she smells kind of nice.' Keana thought with her face. 'Very nice, kind of like jasmine blooming on the beautiful spring.'

Mors instantly felt something rubbing on her neck. Naturally, she can't turn to look around due to how small the space that they are currently at. But she definitely knows that it's the stranger's nose poking, sniffing like a rabbit shamelessly, much to her bewilderment.

"Uhm…" Mors spoke up her mind, confused by the girl's weird action. "What are you doing?"

Keana in an instant snaps herself out as her eyes widen with a blush as red as a tomato. "N-nothing! You kind of smell nice that's all."

"Hmm, I smell nice huh." Mors as emotionless as ever responded, her tone dismissive in return. Then she questions Keana with a bored look. "How long should we wait here then? Won't this old man naturally know this place since he is the owner?"

"Neh no worries," Keana answered with a carefree tone as she reassures the violet-haired girl. "The old man has a case of Claustrophobia so he won't be coming here anytime soon. He usually entrusts his daughter, Jane when he has something to get here. So we'll be fine."

"I see." Mors nodded, satisfied with Kana's answer.

"Hihi, if I know Jane, then she'll probably realize that I'm going to hide here, so she'll get us when the coast is clear," Keana said with a hearty grin. "By the way, the name's Keana Blakes. What's yours? Referring to you as miss can be quite a headache if you know what I'm saying."

Mors genuinely felt the friendly tone being addressed to her by the now known Keana Blakes.

Seeing no reason to reason to hide her name from a single person who seems amiable enough, the redhead introduced herself.

"Mors, Mors Crimstar."

At hearing her name, Keana's expression brightens a bit.

"Mors huh, you mean the offspring of Nox and sibling to Somnus, also known as the Roman Personification of Death, right?"

Mors definitely was taken aback slightly by Keana's response to her name. "It seems that you are quite knowledgeable on the subject matter Miss Blakes."

"Hehe." Keana grinned in triumphant. "I have my share of reading in Mythology. That and as a Journalist at my school, I am required to know a lot of things if I'm going to write a decent article about every genre."

Mors nodded. "Fascinating. You truly love books don't you?"

"Yep." Keana as she responded the redhead with utmost enthusiasm and intensity on her next words.

"Books provide a brand new and exciting world for a person to immerse, a ripple of endless possibilities taking shape in a series of wordplay and sentences, assuming a force of extreme power altering your deep perception of our dull reality. It is a deep and intriguing wonder of how mere words can shape your very own creativity and imagination, fabricating it in your very own will."

Mors upon hearing the girl's words was absolutely stunned by this. Without her even realizing it, a subtle rare smile transpires on her usually robotic face.

"You know," Keana said as she smiled sincerely. "I can't help but notice the way you talk. Kind of stiff if you ask me."

"It's none of your concern," Mors responded with a shrug, returning back to her usual stoic look.

"Meh…" Keana responded happily. "To each person and their own charms, I guess."

While the two are occupied with their conversation, the door suddenly opens much to their surprise.

To Keana's utter relief, it was just Jane alone.

"I knew you are going to be here." Jane smiled in a playful fashion. "Who would have thought that my dad's phobia would save your sorry hide."

"Hahaha, yeah lucky us." Keana chuckled sheepishly.

"Lucky indeed." Jane smiled and her attention turned to the other girl with red-hair, puzzled at how they ended up in such a compromising position.

"Who's the new girl?" Jane asks as she kept her eyes on Mors.

"Oh her?" Keana grinned widely…

"Just a new friend that I made today."
