Just when Natasha was beginning to open up, Sharon walked in with a tray of coffee with coco chips biscuits in her hands. Natasha quickly looked to the other side to prevent Sharon from seeing tears rolling down her cheek.
Sharon poured coffee in the two mug cups, she asked Mandy," How many teaspoons of sugar should I add to your coffee miss Mandy?"
"One teaspoon for me please," Mandy answered. Sharon did not bother to ask Natasha because she already knew how Natasha liked her coffee. After serving them, Sharon vanished from their presence. leaving the two Ladies enjoying their coffee, she left for the kitchen to prepare the main meal for supper.
Natasha looked at Mandy and said," I am being mentally tortured by Danny it's like he will never change from his behaviour.
Mandy put back the mug cup on a saucer and asked," Is he still hitting you?"
"Yes! He has never stopped not even once, he talks to me inadequately in the presence of our children and workers, sometimes hits me..... some words died on her throat as she cried out in anguish. Before Mandy uttered a word, she moved closer to her friend and tightened her grip on Natasha's hand while she used the other hand to dry her tears with the handkerchief which she took from her black handbag.
Mandy's eyes welled up with tears, she failed to hold them back but joined in the crying too. She was very hurt and disappointed with the way her friend was being treated by her husband, when Natasha had calmed down a bit Mandy said to her," How long are you going to live like this? No Naatie you have to do something about this."
What should I do? Danny and I have three kids together and the fourth child is on the way, I love Danny so much, I can't make hasty decisions that will put the happiness of my children in jeopardy. I'll keep on forgiving him for the sake of our children until he reaches the point of changing, Natasha replied with a cold voice.
Mandy's felt her adrenaline raise with anger because this wasn't the first time that Natasha defended her husband with so much strength, even when it was him who was in the wrong, she always sided with him. She has never once in her life thought of herself, she had always put him first before herself. Mandy swallowed a hard knot on her throat that threatened to choke her, then she chimed in again.
"Come on Natie! Mandy exclaimed you have been singing that song for the second time now. You shouldn't say for the sake of the children, what about you ugh...? You know we all get married out of love, but with you, it's been a different story, you're the one that puts in more exertion into your marriage, you've been the only one who makes it work," Mandy responded angrily.
"So what's your advice?" Natasha asked.
Mandy told Natasha that the only advice she could give, was for the two of them to go for marriage counselling. She also warned her that both of them have to take part if they wanted their marriage to work out. she went forward and asked her if they have tried to visit one. She couldn't advise her to get a divorce because she knew how deeply in love Natasha was with her husband.
Natasha acknowledged that it never crossed her mind. She never bothered to look for any marriage counsellor because she knew Danny wouldn't agree to go. But was willing to try one, if she needed a chance to fix her marriage which was falling apart and that she prayed for luck to be on her side. So that it can work for the both of them, Natasha thanked Mandy for coming up with a brilliant idea.
Mandy told Natasha she can count on her and whenever she carved to talk to somebody, she shouldn't delay to give her a call, she went further and told her not to worry herself because it was bad for her pregnancy." Yes that's true, I know i can count on you." Natasha replied. The two ladies got carried away with chatting such that they took notice on how time had flown by. Mandy nearly forget that she had an appointment with Holmer. When she scanned the wall clock, she cried out with panic," Oh no! it's 4:30 pm, I have to get going."
"But why this early Mandy? I thought you were spending a night so that we can talk some more." Natasha said with a wry smile.
"Thank you for the offer Natie but I can't, maybe next time, I got carried away with the chatting, such that, I forgot to tell you Holmer had called for an emergency dinner this evening so I have to go home to prepare myself and freshen up." Mandy replied.
"So when are the two of getting married?" if I recall correctly, you have been in this relationship for five years now. Are you still getting to know each other?" Natasha asked this question for a second time because she wasn't content on Mandy managed to change the subject previously she asked her. What she wanted was for Mandy to disclose where her plans stands.
Mandy stood up, ignoring Natasha's question once again, and walked towards the hallway, while Natasha followed behind, when they reached the door Mandy faced Natasha and said," That's a good question Natie, but sorry I don't have an answer, Holmer is the right person to answer, why he is delaying, don't you think Natie?"
"Yes, you're very much right, Natasha replied embarrassingly.
"Alright, I guess I have to go now."
She hugged Natasha and they both exchanged goodbye kisses, Mandy continued talking in a whisper" Please be careful my friend."
Sharon opened the door for her, she walked straight to her car, before she opened the car door. She looked behind, she saw Natasha looking at her with mixed emotions. Mandy felt like going back, but instead, she blew a kiss and said," I love you," before Natasha said a word, Mandy got in a car, Levy opened the gate for her and she drove off.
