Chapter 9 - Exploding Mist

Grey was terrified as she ran towards the mine, heading towards the waypoint.

Behind her, the massive boss was only inches away, teleporting every few minutes as she tried to make it through the woods without tripping.

She jumped over a tree branch and pushed herself off a tree before she slid underneath a log. A second later, that log was destroyed by the boss behind her as it charged at its top speed, preparing to impale her in the back of the head with its spear.

It rose its arm and prepared to fire off an attack as she grimaced and turned back.

It had teleported mere inches from her face, and she gulped as she pushed off her right foot and jumped away from a cloud of red smoke. The spear split apart of her cheek apart as she grimaced and was smashed into the bark of a nearby redsteam tree…

She slid down it as the boss laughed, thrusting back its right arm and preparing to stab her in the chest as it reveled in the little fox girl beneath it.

"Heh… you little low class human… I'm going to enjoy watching my boar eat you!"

"You smell…" Grey replied, pushing herself to her feet. "Try and hit me if you can…"

"Oh, confident are we?" The boss's translucent eyes glimmered with an evil intent before it manifested into a quick jolt of spear. It got within inches of Grey's face as she activated the meteor steps, sliding just away from the spear before another dozen attacks followed.

He began to move his spear faster and faster, but Grey was too hard to hit… It was like he was trying to touch the red steam that made Redsteam Forest famous! His black armor started to glow as he hissed and kept attacking.

Sweat began to even drip down his head before he spun off his back foot and sent out three daggers… One hit Grey in the chest, knocking her into the tree before she gushed out blood…

'Damn it! I'm sorry Aria… I'm sorry I couldn't find our fourth sister!" Grey and Aria and Nadia were technically sisters, but they never told anyone about that back in the kennel… She coughed as the boss picked up the spear and put it to her neck…

"Heh… awwww, you look sad… The vultures will eat you and return you to the core…" Black Hands the Destroyer spun his spear and then stabbed down, expecting to hit her… However, Clark appeared in front of her with his arms crossed, blocking the spearhead with his two palms…

"Heh… sorry, I can help!" Clark held up his thumb to Grey, causing her to start to cry as he stood inf ront of her… "I'm in charge of you, Grey… I can't just let you die…"

"Ugh… weak human!"

"You're a piece of shit…" Clark smiled as Nadia slashed her blade through his neck, knocking him off balance and allowing Clark to knock him off his boar… "Heh… you're not even a real boss…"

"You'll see the difference between us insect!" Black Hands the Destroyed spun back and thrust forward before he felt a magnetic pull once again to Grey… She started running towards the mine again, and this time had tears dripping down her eyes as she darted towards it…

She jumped over a log as the boss rushed after her with the din from his armor constantly following his movements… It sounded terrifying, but it wasn't as scary as what she had to deal with in the kennel.

"There! There's the mine!" Naida grinned as she finally made it to the mine.

It had a wooden doorway with a rail for a cart and a keep out sign. She ran up to it and spun around, staring at the boss as it tossed a spear towards her face. She spun and used her leather shield to hit it before he sent his left fist towards her jaw as he jumped off his boar…

However, she knew what her goal was…

She smiled and grabbed his left hand, twisting it and sending him spinning towards the mine doorway as he gasped in shock…

"Curse you human! I'll—I'll end yo—"

However, as those words came out of his lips, the next instant a large explosion sounded… His body had slammed into the mine doorway causing a large cloud of smoke to shoot up into the air…

The explosion was so intense that Grey's body disappeared in a cloud of smoke…
