Chapter 19 - Morning Encounter

Andi was humming songs of her favorite band on her way to the university. She was driving another car. She didn't drive her red sportscar, thinking, that she might be seen by Zach again. With the successful Assembly yesterday, she's having a good mood today. Once she arrived, she saw someone stole her favorite parking space, again but she let it pass.

She woke up too early. Now, there's an hour and half to kill. She decided to spend time at the Freedom Park. She grabbed her lunchbox and a tumble of milk and a big scarf too. She wanted to enjoy the morning breeze and the silence of early morn. She didn't notice a lot of students while she was walking towards the mini forest.

Upon reaching the place, she laid down the scarf on the ground spreading it evenly under her favorite tree, the Sycamore.

She then removed her shoes and stretched both her legs and massaged her ankles a bit before sitting down. She opened her lunch box and began to eat while savoring the landscape before her. She's always excited to eat so most of the time she prays while eating. It's better late than sorry, eh?

While chewing her food she remembered to thank Him for all her blessings including the people who don't know her but continues to believe in her and in what she can do.

She finished everything in less than seven minutes. Even though she just finished eating, she laid down properly putting her arms under her head and faced the sky. If her mom sees her, she would definitely make a fuss. She breathed heavily.

'Ah. This is life!' she loudly muttered to herself before closing her eyes.

She was awaken by a sound of camera clicking. She didn't even planned to sleep. She panicked when she remembered to check her watch and relaxed as soon as she realized she feel asleep for only fifteen minutes. She sat up and looked around and asked herself, 'Did I really heard something? Nah. I'm sure I did.'

She quickly fold the scarf and covered her lunchbox with it hiding it within the bushes. She stood up and shook off some fallen leaves off her body and walked towards the forest where she thinks the sound came from.

The mini forest is her usual spot in the campus when she has time in the morning. With more than seven hundred hectares, it constitutes a quarter of the entire university's total size. The forest is adjacent to the Freedom Park. The entrance is symbolized by two tall White Knight trees. Like it's name, the tree's bark is whitish in color. More than ten people are needed to hug these trees and they are amazingly ninety years old. She knows because she forced her friends to try to hug the tree but they failed. She learned that fact, though. It was so lucky that before it was cut down, it was put on preservation status by the university's founder.

When she has a lot of time, she visits the forest and do bird viewing at breaking dawn. She also conducts the activity for their club, Nature First. Right now, she doesn't have her binoculars and camera. Though that wasn't the plan in the first place, but who knows she might see something wonderful today. 'Oh well, I still hope to see something amazing.'

She continued moving forward the inner part of the forest. After a while, she reached the small pond. She suddenly missed going to the Twin Peaks Nature Park where she usually bath in the lake after a hike. People called it the' Twin Peaks' because of the visible twin mountain peaks. However, if you've been there, you'll know it also has twin lakes. One of the lakes is inhabited by crocodiles, so you must know which or else you will be diving to your own death, literally.

She made a mental noted to schedule a hike one of these days. Then she thought something bright! She haven't punish the Mean girls. She laughed her evil laugh.

She decided not to pursue her search. She removed her shoes once again and sat just at the edge of the pond. She soaked her feet and started to relax. She put both her hands on the ground to support her body and faced towards the sky of towering trees. Some rays of sunlight was able to peek in between the leaves, hitting her face with gentle light. She played the pebbles on her feet and tossed it to the other foot, like playing a soccer or a way of massaging them. The water is cool making her more relaxed. Closing her eyes she thought of one of her dreams which is to have a house inside a forest. If not, a farmhouse where she can harvest her food fresh from the farm. Unknowingly she smiled to herself.

Her daydreaming was disturbed by a clicking sound. 'There it goes again. Now, I'm sure it's real.' She breathed heavily as if letting the person knows that she didn't hear anything. Then, she looked at her watch. She stood up and casually wiped her feet with handkerchief before putting her shoes on. But before she could she ran and jumped towards where the noise was from.

There was a a sudden sound of movement as if the person or something is trying to flee.

"I got you!" She shouted to the person or whatever it is she heard and ran to chase it. She saw nothing until she heard a sound of a twig breaking which seems that someone must have stepped on it. She didn't think twice as she jumped towards the sound spreading her arms to catch it. She sprung forward at the person who was shocked and she heard the loudest scream she ever heard her entire life.
