Chapter 55 - ATTENDING MY WEDDING

"How is he?", Arianna asked as she entered the room. Yago was sitting on the edge of the bed and Heleina just finished checking up on him. She put away the stethoscope, sphygmomanometer, and finger pulse oximeter before turning around and greeting Arianna with a bow.

"Everything is normal. The patient is recovering well." the nurse reported.

Arianna nodded. "Good. You may go now." she replied. Heleina bowed once more before taking her leave.

Yago glanced at the woman standing before him. Lately, she's been giving her that look. That haughty look as if she was mocking him. She used to be awkward around him, but now she has this predominant aura which she never use against him before. His little sweet kitten has been eyeing him now like a tiger watching her prey.

"I need to go out tonight. I need to settle something." Yago stated as Arianna stood in front of him.

Arianna raised his brows. She answered with a short 'No way'. Yago frowned but didn't protest. What's the use of it anyway. He'll just sneak out tonight. He's fine now. He can do something as easy as that.

Arianna's eyes darkened when he saw the expression on his face. "Stop thinking about it. You can not surpass my security." she declared. "You'll go out when I say so, and you'll stay if I say you stay."

"Am I a prisoner?",he commented out of exasperation. Arianna has been too controlling lately. He's been staying inside this mansion for five days already and she didn't allow her to go out. Even strolling around the house is forbidden! His works have piled up. His company was about to collapse, and she's not allowing him to even contact his people! Even if he dotes on her, she's going overboard this time.

Arianna sneered at him. "Prisoner? Of course not. You're my pet." she teased. "I require my pets to be obedient. Don't worry about the company matters. I've sent Erica over together with a trusted personnel. The company won't go bankrupt without you. Even if it does, it doesn't worth that much." she remarked arrogantly.

Arianna watched as Yago's face turned red in indignation. She had never angered Yago this much before. So amusing. "You know what? If you have time to scold me in your heart, then use it to pack your things instead. We're going to the country club tomorrow. We'll set off before sunrise." Arianna smiled, ruffled his hair as one would to a small puppy. She then left humming as she enjoy winning over him in this argument. Well, she wanted to take care of him in a normal way, but his secret forbids it. She can only do this for now. So many people has been looking for Yago. Even his company isn't a safe place for him to be. She can only restrict his freedom to keep him safe. She just hopes that Yago won't hate her so much for treating him unfairly this once.

Inside his room, Yago was left in deep thought. Isn't it only friday tomorrow? Usually, Arianna visits her parents on weekends. Is there a special reason why she's visiting a day earlier? And what does she mean by packing his stuffs?

Yago didn't have to wait for too long to know the answer to his questions. A few minutes after Arianna left his room, a maidservant entered and took out his luggage. He immediately asked what the luggage is for, and the maid replied with "Aren't you and Miss going on a short vacation?" the maid then continued to stuff the luggage with his clothes while Yago watch on the side.

"Do you know where we are spending this short vacation?" he asked.

"No, Sir. Miss didn't inform us. She only mentioned about going on a christmas vacation, and that she won't be back until her wedding day." the woman answered.

Gone for christmas? Tomorrow is the 20th. Does that mean she'll spend the next 6days with her family? And Arianna's supposed wedding date is on the 26th, so she'll come back to the city that day. But what for? Does she really plan to attend that wedding?

Suddenly, Yago remembered how Arianna cried that day when she received Jayden's phonecall. He remembered how excited she was when she answered that call, and how heartbroken she was when the call ended. Was she still too attached to that b*astard that she's willing to marry him even if he's such a big cheater? Even Yago knows about his disloyalty, so how could Arianna not know about it? Perhaps, she's just turning a blind eye on it.

***

Ten o'clock in the evening.

Arianna has been lying quietly on her bed for quite some time now, but sleep seemed to elude her. She has been thinking of ways to trap Yago's enemies, or at least find out their identities as soon as possible. Time is running out for them and a small carelessness could lead to their demise. A few minutes later, Arianna's phone rang. She picked it up and Viper's voice resounded from the other end.

"Miss, the head honcho has been identified." Viper reported at once.

Arianna's eyes darkened. "Are you certain?" she asked. "Didn't all the hunter who ambushed Yago that night all died the night after?"

"Positive. Though the investigation about the initial incident led us to a dead end, the subsequent espeionage in Y.E. and our team of security; and the extermination missions issued against Mr. dela Vega; all evidence leads to only one organization. The so called Rojo. But more than that, we've succesfully identified their leader, which is..."

Knock! knock! knock!

The phone conversation was interrupted by a series of knocking. Arianna had no choice but to hang up the call. Because of the enemy's infiltration to Yago's security team, they found it hard to use it's full potential and had to rely on the few most trusted individuals to do the investigation. Basically, except for some elites, everyone in the team was a suspected spy, thus the whole team has to be paralyzed. Arianna was forced to handle the work and have Tiger's group of elites coordinate with her team of experts. At last, their hard work has payed off. But the rest should wait til tomorrow.

"Who is it?" Arianna asked as she opened the door. She was startled when she saw Yago standing in front of her bedroom door wearing a serious expression. "Do you need anything?"

"Can we talk inside?" Yago requested.

Arianna opened the door wider and allowed him in. Yago strode in and and sat on the sofa. He had a solemn expression that made Arianna curious as to why Yago came to see her this late. Did something happen?

"What's the matter?" she asked.

"I can't sleep until I get an answer from you..." Yago uttered. "Your wedding... are you going to attend it?" he asked directly.

Arianna raised her brows. What an amusing topic. He can't sleep because of this? "Yes. I'm going to attend my wedding. Why wouldn't I?", Arianna replied while she looked straight to his eyes.

Yago studied her expression. There was no sign that she was lying. She knew her since they were young. She was telling the truth. She's attending that wedding.

"Are you really planning to marry that scoundrel?" he yelled. With his eyes ablaze, Yago stared at her with incredulity. She wondered how she could appease this guy's raging heart right now. She couldn't think of anything though.

"Vier, this has nothing to do with you, right? Whoever I want to marry is my own business." she replied, looking away. She couldn't meet his eyes and lie without batting an eyelid. "When Yago left me, only Jayden stayed by my side. You wouldn't understand even if I try to explain it to you all night." she then turned around and walked away. "You should go now. It's getting late. Please close the door behind you." she said as she went back to bed.

Yago was furious. Did she just take that scum as his substitute? What a big insult!

Yago stood up and dashed towards Arianna. He grabbed her arm and throw her on the bed. "What if I tell you I won't let you to attend it?" he threateningly said as he climb on top of her and press Arianna on the bed. "As long as I'm alive, you're not allowed to marry that b*stard." he uttered between gritted teeth.

Arianna was startled by his extreme reaction. It was amusing though. He almost gave himself away because of his intense jealousy. How cute. She couldn't help but smile a bit.

"Tell me, what can you do about it? What will you do to stop me? You can't even decide your own marriage, and you dare intervene in mine?", she stated as if challenging him.

Yago clenched his fist when he saw how relaxed Arianna is beneath him. There was no sign of panic or fear. Was he really underestimating him?

Yago stared at the woman lying underneath. She looked so enticing in her spaghetti strapped silk night dress with her hair sprawled over the white bed covers. Their position was too tempting at the moment, but how could he take her using someone else's identity? Right now, he has no choice but to retreat.

Yago let her go and left the bed in a hurry. It was such a great feat to try and control himself at the moment that even looking at her pained him. "I'm telling you, you're not attending that wedding." Yago said before shutting the door close behind him.

Arianna's smile widen as he watch him leave. "No one is allowed to spoil my fun. I'm going to attend that wedding, even if I have to bring you with me." she murmured, chuckling.
