Chapter 2 - Meeting God

My mind, which blacked out after that something had enveloped me and whatever was left of my being, had finally awoke with me along with it.

Suddenly I was hit with sensations I had all but forgotten.

I could feel my chest moving along with hearing my warm breath seamlessly flowing out of my throat.

I tasted the saliva gathering in my mouth as I licked my surprisingly moist lips.

I could hear my heart beat pounding in what I could only assume to be joy at the fact I had regained my physical form.

However I could not see as my eyes were shut tight because I wanted to savor to feeling before I faced what ever have given my physical form.

A few minutes later I was ready and slowly opened my eyes.

What greeted me was not a man woman or any other being I could remember.

Instead it was a ball of energy so large that if put into scale would make the largest Sun discovered by humans look small. So bright that if you told me I was looking at the very concept of light itself, I wouldn't even hesitate in agreeing. But that wasn't what had caught my attention.

What did was the color of the light this mass of what I assumed to be energy, created.

The color was grey, bland and emotionless. Almost as if-

" It was depressed." Said a genderless monotone voice that rang through my head.

Rightly confused by this sudden development I could only widen my eyes slightly as I looked around for the culprit in vain before turning towards the only other thing in the area. The large mass of energy

When I realised that in all likelihood this mass of energy was the one who spoke I asked it a question.

Well tried anyway.

"Uho war to" were the only words, if you could even qualify them as such, that managed to pour out of my mouth as I struggled to get used to my new vocal cords along with remembering how to speak...english I believe it was called. Now that I think about it I'm surprised I was able to move or breath at all, after all this time I thought I had forgotten about it.

Never underestimate the natural instincts of the human body I guess.

I couldn't think about it any further as all thoughts were cleared from my mind as the voice once again made itself known.

"It seems you have finally readied yourself sufficiently to talk with me lawed. " The voice said with a tinge of amusement laced on it's tone.

'Lawed' I thought with wonder as this is my first time hearing such a word, at least from what I could remember.

"Yes, mortal for nothing else could describe a life form so bound to what they considered the laws of reality that they could not even cast a single spell despite them having the potential to do so."

I was about to respond and ask it a question, but it seemed I had no reason to as the ball of energy answered before I could respond mentally.

"Yes, I am God the one being in this entire omni-verse that sees all, knows all, and is almost endlessly powerful."

Hearing this I stopped trying to respond as even if I did it would be of no use because if this is the God then anything and everything I could say would already be known to it.

After not replying for while the ball of energy glowed...pleasantly? I can't exactly tell as I don't speak giant ball of energy.

Once again the ball of energy, or rather God spoke.

"It seems you caught on rather fast. Good, I knew it was the right choice picking you."

I stayed silent as God continued.

"I'll just get to the point, I have other things to do and can't waste too much time talking with you."

I nodded in understanding. He is god after all, and taking care of the omni-verse must be tough.

"You, Demetrius harps, have been chosen to inherit the ability of True Instant mastery. The one ability in everything that will block my ever gazing eyes from seeing your present past and future."

I was shocked beyond belief at what I just heard.

"An ability that blocks the sight of God? That's so intriguing! "

When I looked back to god (who's original grey colored light was now a yellowish shade) I couldn't help but ask a question that somehow slipped out my new vocal cords despite me barely remembering how to speak english.

"Why me?"

This single question seemed to cause God's entire being to light up in fiasco of yellow and green light before it settled back down to grey before it spoke again.

"Because, Demetrius,  not only did you survive inside that endless void for eons like none had done before you, but you also have a personality opposite to mine making you the perfect choice."

I stared at god with visible confusion at that last part about my personality.

"You're wondering how your personality factors into this, no?"

I nodded.

"You see everything must have an equal, opposite, and a stronger force this is the law of everything. All except the last mentioned applies to me as well."

'So it's kinda like how every action has an equal and opposite reaction, right?'

I don't know how but I felt that God had nodded if that was even possible before continuing on.

"My opposite is someone many humans have heard of in your old world. I believe he was referred to as Lucifer in a book your kind wrote called the Bible."

I raised an eyebrow at that piece of information as it's not every day you have confirmation Lucifer was real before listening to the rest.

"Anyway, my equal was supposed to be Omega, but it died long ago. Since then the balance between me and my opposite,Lucifer as you call it, has been slowly breaking."

" This lead to some, unfortunate, and unforeseen consequences. Lucifer has been gaining power, which shouldn't be happening, but since I am without equal another needs to take Omega's place. I as God cannot allow my opposite become my equal, for our clash to see who would become the dominant one would wipe out all I had worked for, all that I had set the fundamentals for."

'Fundamentals? Wait so do you mean you didn't create everything but instead the basic elements like matter, heat, etc?'

" Yes."

I stayed silent to let him continue.

"Sadly this is inevitable if I do not take action. Normally I would simply use my all seeing eyes to see what the best course of action would be, but…"

'Because of the lack of balance I'm guessing your sight is limited. Correct?' I thought with my mind running at a million miles an hour.

"Indeed." Responded God sounding rather tired which was a surprise as I didn't think beings like it could even get tired.

"I may be an existence that was there before the very concept of "reality", and "something" even came into this everything. But I'm not perfect. I made my fair share of mistakes in my younger days. From creating my opposite who was much cruler and insane than I imagined, to having various other mishaps."

Suddenly God's light turned blue.

"But… my biggest and worst mistake was allowing Omega to be killed."

'Killed?' I thought surprised. 'Who or rather what could kill a being equal to you?."

Upon hearing my question God's aura flickered red for a split second before returning back to it's previous grey state.

"That's a very long and tedious story, that I will not be going into." God said with a tone that suggested no room for discussion.

'Okay' I responded honestly a little scared.

Then once more god Surprised me as he sighed then began talking again.

" I'm getting off track. Thank you for enduring the rambling of a very old man."

'It's of no consequence.' I thought earnestly.

"Good. Now when I transfer the power of TIM (True Instant Mastery) you will blackout since your soul will have to adjust to the power being forced into you. When you wake up you will be in your new mother's womb a month before your birth."

'If I may ask, why do I have to start out as an infant?'

" I'd say it's because of the soul but that would be only half of the reason. The full reason is that Instant mastery doesn't just gives you the knowledge and ability to use a skill, magic, etc that you see/read but also mutates, improves, and adapts your body to be able to use whatever you saw/read at the same level as the original user."

"Therefor the body needs to be flexible in how it could develop."

My eyes widened to a comical degree as I digested what God had just said. If what it said is true then-

'Isn't that too powerful? Couldn't I just look at anyone  huge power difference or not and instantly be on equal terms with them?'  I thought skeptically.

"In a most cases yes."

'That's...stupidly overpowered.' I thought deadpanned.

"Your quite amusing for a mortal I'll give you that. Also if you think this alone is broken on it's own wait until you figure out the other uses of TIM."

'There's more? Cool can not wait until I figure out what's left.' I thought excitedly.

"Are you not going to ask what those other uses are?"

'What's the point in asking when I know you won't tell me since if you wanted to you'd already have done so?' I thought analytically and calm.

"Calm and collected huh? Good you'll need that for the first world your going to."

'First world? I'm assuming I'll be going to multiple.'

"Yes you will be. There's not a single universe out there that has the resources that could eventually get you up to even Lucifer's original level before it started to gain the power it has now."

"And even if you did copy Lucifer's powers you wouldn't be able to use them as their true divine powers, something that can't be simply improved into being able to use. You'd first need to become a true god to be able to even stand in the same room as Lucifer and it only gets harder from there.  Ascending the lower tiers of godhood is easy as pie for someone with your skill set. However anything higher than high god will be difficult. For you need to find your own path to ascension. Do you understand?

'yes I do, I'm ready.' I thought filled with determination.

" Excellent. Oh and before you blackout just so you know for every world you go to you'll have to go through the birth process and you'll be given a mission to do before your able to move on to the next world."

'Eh? Why the missions?'

" If I didn't give you a mission to do you'd just be aimlessly wandering around gaining power, and that's no fun to watch."

'Why would you need to watch when you could see through your- oh you can't see my future with your eyes when I get TIM.'

"Exactly. Now off you go"

All I saw was darkness when it finished talking.
