The next morning I heard my mom and Amelia downstairs fixing breakfast and talking I couldn't really make out what they were saying all I heard through the tiny walls of chattering was my mom asking Amelia how she feel today, and is she doing good, and when Amelia spoke she said softly "taking it one day at a time".
I brushed my teeth and put on a shirt. Amelia yelled for me to come down stairs and eat breakfast. This wasn't your usual breakfast, this was a banquet like we were feeding tons of people. Grits, eggs, sausages of three different kinds, pancakes, along with waffles, orange juice and a large bowl of fruit which consisted of sliced apples, mangoes and green kiwi's. I yelled out very loud.
"Is someone pregnant or we have company over"?
Amelia and my mom burst out with laughter. Moments later Mrs. Collette joined our table, we laughed and told stories like we were twelve again everything felt so right At that moment it just felt so surreal. Usually our moms get together for dinner, or they have a girls night so just being at this table brings back so many memories.
After we finished breakfast Amelia and I had on our list that today we would go to the beach, so we packed a bag with our snacks and used my moms truck.
The beach was just ten minutes away from where we stayed. Amelia made sure to pack us sandwiches, juice, some leftover fruit from breakfast, beach towels, and our umbrellas just in case it starts to rain. When we made it to the beach I assured Amelia that she can go sit while I get everything out the trunk.
This day is going to be perfect.
Amelia found us a nice spot where we can see the birds, hear the waves and be under the shade, so we wouldn't get sun burned. We laid out our beach towels and sat on top of them watching the couples at the beach, and, the dolphins showing out in the water. This day was already perfect.
"What would you do if I disappeared, like never come back John?" Amelia asked.
"I would look for you, I don't think I would ever sleep, Damn, I wouldn't stop searching for you I wouldn't care if I'm old and grey you're my whole world, the only person that knows me inside out, the woman I hope to marry one day." I whispered.
"Before I knew it we both were tearing up
"Amelia you're that person you're my person, I will never choose anyone over you, so no matter what I would look for you everyday, I will choose you over and over without a pause without a doubt in a heartbeat I'll keep choosing you, so why are we talking about this. Why are we talking like this" I said
She wiped her tears ignoring my question. And once again I brushed it off.
Amelia jumped up with a mouth full of food running towards the baby porpoises
"Hey, look John LOOOOOOOK" She shouted thunderous.
I Chuckled looking at the baby porpoises they seemed to be having a good time and so was Amelia. It was getting dark out, and as much as I didn't want this day to end I just thought about tomorrow I know tomorrow would be even better.
