Chapter 2 - Chapter 2. STEP 2: Be Named

Dec. 25, 2XXX

10:00 AM, At the Hospital

Two figures are on a couch inside the VIP room, one of a man and one of a boy. The man is sitting and staring at nothingness while the boy is laid on a couch with his head on the lap of his father, asleep.

Outside the room...

"Have you seen the man inside the VP 202? He looks so handsome!" nurse A said

"I know! he's so dreamy! Those big muscles that his white shirt couldn't conceal, *sigh*

I want to touch those treasure" nurse B said

"I heard that his wife had passed away while giving birth to a baby girl. His wife is also gorgeous, too bad she died early" nurse A said while looking at the door of the said room.

Three figures entered the room in haste. One man and two women. All of them look like at the prime of their lives.

"Where is my daughter? Is she alright?" an elegant lady wearing a blue straight-cut dress asked the man inside. Worry is evident in her face.

The man in question looked at the source of voice "Mom... she couldn't make it." The man said in a quiet voice but loud enough to be heard by the new figures in the room.

As if the world breaks down within their eyes. "My daughter! my sweet daughter! Elise!" Tears flow down her face. The once elegance is nowhere to be found as she fell down on her knees and cried loudly on the floor. She couldn't believe that her daughter is the first to leave before her mother.

No words can comfort the loss of a mother, her only child, her precious daughter is now gone and she will never see her again.

The other man in the room that wears a black sweater and brown chinos sat beside the man on a couch and lay his head on his right shoulder as he silently wept. "My son..." like a trigger in a bullet, the man's tears are now out as he wept in the crook of his father's shoulder.

The other posh lady that wears a short green mermaid cut dress, picks up the child on the man's lap and hugs him in her arms. Sensing the heat of the other person, the child snuggled closely to the woman's bosom and cried in his sleep.

"Mom," the child said in his sleep and he stopped crying, mistakingly the warmth of the woman as his deceased mother.

A gloomy aura filled the whole room and it's obvious that death had passed here.

Three knocks are heard from the door, and the doctor and a male nurse come inside the room. The nurse helped the lady in blue that is on the floor to sit on the other couch and gave her a glass of water to calm down.

"Mr. Jean Jack Addams?" the doctor asked the two men huddled on a couch. The man in question lifts his head from his father's shoulder and looks at the doctor.

"I am" while he tried to calm and compose himself.

"I am sorry for your loss," the doctor said and explained what happened at the operating room (A/N: I'm not a doctor so I couldn't go into details)

"Your wife already expected her demise and left you a letter before the operation" he gives the letter to Jean. As he look at the letter in his hands, he suddenly remembered an important thing, no a person.

In his panic, he grabs the doctor on his shoulders and asked "Where's my baby girl? Is she alright?... - he lowered down his voice and loosen his grip to the doctor's shoulder "Is she alive?" The people in the room are silent waiting for the doctor's announcement.

"Yes, but right now she's in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) because her heart rate is low. But it's not severe, she can be transferred to the baby nursery after few more tests." the doctor assured the baby's family.

Everyone in the room sigh in relief. They are afraid of another death for they haven't mourned enough for the loss of Mrs. Addams.

The lady in blue asked Jean "What is the name of my granddaughter?"

"She is Elise Anemone Addams," Jean said to his mother-in-law

'Anemone, meaning death or forsaken love in flower language. Because of you, your mother is gone but I couldn't hate you, for you are my and her child, her gift, and my last child'

'Please be well my daughter'
