The sun was high in the sky, birds were chirping happily. Some flew to seek food for a new day, some to build a new home and family, some just for fun. A beautiful blue bird with a light golden peak landed on an open window sill as it looked into the room.
Rays of sun flooded the room causing Nikki to squint her eyes as she threw the blanket over her head.The bird on the window sill chirped as it turned it's head to the side looking at Nikki.
Nikki turned to grab the pillow at her side to cover her head when her hand fell on soft flesh. Confused, she pulled on the flesh from her half-conscious state wondering what it was. She was still pulling when the thought of who it might have been hit her.
She suddenly sat up straight, in the process pushing the blanket down, her black hair falling across her face. This sudden action spooked the blue bed away.
Nikki, not caring about the bird quickly turned to stare at the person beside her. Her dark eyes met his brown eyes.
"G- Good morning" Nikki quickly forced a smile while screaming in her head. As soon as she spoke she covered her mouth.
"Good morning sweetheart" James smiled as he pulled her down and hugged her. "What's wrong?" He was referring to her covering her mouth.
Nikki shook her head, her hand still firmly placed on her mouth.
"Morning breath?" James slightly raised his eyebrows, his lips curling upward. He placed his hand on her hands that were on her mouth and pulled down, then planted his lips on hers. When he was satisfied, he withdrew and looked at his art work with a naughty smile.
Nikki's face turned red the moment he kissed her. When he separated from her and smiled, she felt like wiping off the smile on his face.

Breakfast was normal, filled with foods of varying proportions.
Today, Nikki was in a white casual shirt and blue jean trousers. She had her black hair tied in low ponytail. She was poking at her eggs with her fork as she ate slowly.
"What's wrong?" James couldn't help but ask, he had been watching her for a while now and it seems she has something on her mind.
Little Jimmy raised his head from his food and looked at his mummy, when she smiled at him, he went back to devouring his food.
Nikki looked at James and pursed her lips.
"I haven't seen Malta for a while, where's she?" Nikki's tone and expression was so serious it sounded like she was asking who killed her family.
Coughs~coughs
James coughed not expecting Nikki to ask this question. He couldn't help but remember him begging Malta over the phone to go stay at her friend's place. He had to make lots of unwanted promises before he got her to leave.
"She is staying at a friend's place to study," He, of course wouldn't tell Nikki he asked Malta to leave.
"Hmm, eat more" Nikki seemed to have bought it easily as she gave him more food.
