Chapter 115 - Illusory Blood, Phantom Flames

The powerful ancient vampire, Lord Edgar, felt his brain spinning around in his head as he tried to make sense of the current phenomena.

'Currently, the only people in Eadon that should be able to sense my presence should be archmage Sacha who I met previously, grandmaster Vulcan, and the town lord, Alera. No, even Alera should not be able to.'

The girl was still looking at him curiously. Around him, the crowd parted ways like the legendary parting of the red sea and no one seemed to notice the anomaly. The girl saw it clearly though and her eyes were filled with confusion as she seemed to be trying to make sense of the situation.

But although Lord Edgar was initially startled, he kept his cool. As someone with sufficient experience, he knew that the girl must be some special existence. Since he hadn't sensed any ill intent, as long as he didn't show hostility first, the other party would probably not attack as well.

There were unwritten rules amongst powerhouses.

He decided to stay still and watch, he was still trying to figure out which powerhouse it might be by matching his knowledge of those active in Evafall and around the Gorm kingdom in particular.

Myra looked at the mysterious cloaked figure and was filled with surprise, curiosity, and a bit of apprehension. The person stopped when they saw her looking over and stared back, causing her to feel a bit of fear.

Other people didn't seem to notice the person and even Baluu subconsciously avoided the person's path which fueled her curiosity. She patted Baluu on the head and pointed at the figure.

"Big brother Baluu? Who is that person?" she whispered in what she thought was a secretive tone.

"What do you mean? Which person?" Baluu turned to look in the direction she pointed out but saw nobody that stood out in particular.

The crowd was moving around as usual and everyone was going to their various destinations. Turning his eyes to look at Myra, he revealed a confused look.

"I don't see anybody suspicious. Who exactly did you see?" he asked her.

"You cannot see him? He is standing right there and he is looking at me!" Myra's eyes widened when Baluu said he couldn't see anybody.

Myra saw that the mysterious cloaked figure was still standing silently, staring at her. The fact that Baluu couldn't seem to see the anomaly caused her to feel even more confused. She quickly began to describe the man to Baluu.

"And nobody seems to be seeing him too! They are just going around him." Myra was felt a bit scared and clutched Amba's figure closer.

Black Raven noticed they had stopped and turned to listen to what Myra was saying but when she looked over at the direction where she was pointing, she saw nobody with that description.

Baluu was mystified!

Even though he felt that it might be a prank she was playing, he didn't know Myra with such a habit so he decided to humor her for a bit and see what was happening.

"Hey little viper, do you see any cloaked, dangerous-looking person over there?" Baluu nudged Vars who wasn't paying attention.

His eyes were staring in another direction and his mind seemed to have drifted off.

He turned to look at the direction Baluu was pointing at but couldn't find anyone suspicious either. He just shook his head and went back to what he was thinking about, not even bothering to answer.

Baluu was now a bit confused about the whole thing. He glanced at Myra and saw that her expression was really worried. She kept glancing nervously in that direction while clutching the doll in her hands tighter.

Coming to a quick decision, he decided to try and allay her fears.

"Okay Myra, you said you can see this person and he is still standing there?" he asked to confirm this part and Myra nodded.

"Well then." He promptly changed his direction to head towards where she pointed out the suspicious character was.

"When I reach where the person is, you tell me alright? I will smack him good for trying to scare you like that!" he flexed his big muscles.

He turned to the weak old woman before him and smiled.

"I am sorry ma'am. Let me deal with this really quick. I will be back soon enough." He then sauntered off under Myra's direction.

Black Raven's eyes flickered underneath her tattered hair but she nodded feebly without replying. She turned her eyes to look at the distracted Vars. She had found a way to warn them about the attack and escape successfully afterward.

As Baluu walked towards Lord Edgar, the vampire was looking on with a frown. He couldn't recognize who the young girl was but she was already taking the initiative to approach him.

He obviously wasn't worried about the bearman, he wasn't a threat to him even if he was beaten to a near-death situation. But the fact that the girl was still coming over even after he had shown his neutrality left him a bit displeased.

'What could she possibly want? Is she some existence who is suffering from a situation that has left her in a weak human body and requires some help? She should have sensed the aura of the Yellow sovereign on me but she still approaches?'

No matter how he thought about it, it didn't make sense. There were very few existences that would dare challenge the Yellow sovereign and none of them looked like a ten-year-old human girl with blue eyes.

'No, maybe she isn't someone that powerful. It might be a special bloodline power of some reclusive human clan or sect. Of course! That makes much more sense.'

As he came to this conclusion, he subtly nodded his head. That made more sense to him. Since he couldn't recognize the powerhouse, the conclusion that this child was not a powerhouse seemed much more feasible. With the amount of knowledge he possessed, there was no way he could forget or make a mistake.

Watching the duo come closer, he now had a cold expression on his face. Not knowing their limits, these mortals dared to try to come up to challenge him, it was obvious that he would feel insulted. It was like a mouse coming up to challenge a lion, it would just end up getting toyed with!

'They might be acting out of ignorance but I can't let this go. But archmage Sacha is around, I am very sure he is keeping vigilant of me and would make a move immediately he senses my presence flare up. There is also the grandmaster to worry about.' He thought about his situation.

'I can just scare them a little at most. The next time those eyes of hers show her any abnormality, she would learn to mind her business. Thinking of it this way, I am actually helping her protect her life in the future. I am sure the Sovereign will be proud!' he patted his own back as he decided to take action.

The duo was already just a few steps close and the girl looked at him warily while whispering to the bearman.

"He is right in front of you Big brother Baluu." She said slowly.

Baluu was standing in the middle of the street and staring closely at the crowd in front of him. Although people passing by were confused as to why this person was just staring blankly at the middle of the crowd, no one stopped to ask him.

Baluu was standing right in front of Lord Edgar and peering in closely. His face was right in front of the ancient vampire.

Myra, who was sitting on his shoulder was looking at Lord Edgar nervously also. She couldn't see this person's face and was also curious as to who he was and why exactly no one else could see him.

But just at that moment, the cloak was lifted a little and revealed a magnificently handsome face. Myra's breath was caught in her lungs when she saw that face, especially the blood-red eyes that seemed to be smiling maliciously at her.

Baluu wasn't aware of the danger he was in as his face came ever closer to that of the ancient vampire. He already had his suspicions and he wanted to confirm it.

If what Myra said was correct, then he felt it had to be the work of a powerful cleric that was proficient in illusions and mind magic. Those kinds of spells were usually very powerful if someone wasn't aware of them but once you could find out what was going on, breaking them could also be relatively easy.

That was why he decided to go to where she pointed out. If it was really the work of a mind cleric, he could easily break the magic by approaching the caster and making contact.

Myra seemed to have been hooked by the blood-red eyes of Lord Edgar and couldn't warn Baluu. Lord Edgar didn't seem to be interested in Baluu though and had his eyes fixed on Myra.

'I will just teach you a little lesson this time. Next time, when you see something you think is dangerous, run far away with your tails tucked between your legs." He thought to himself as his eyes deepened considerably.

Myra was in danger!

Amba's eyes suddenly glowed with a dull white light at this moment and the carving of a circle surrounded by four triangles on his chest glowed along with it.

Lord Edgar's attention was caught for a split second by the glowing golem and he glanced at it curiously.

'This doll? What is it?' He suddenly felt wary when he sensed the power activating around the doll.

But that split second decided his fate.

BUZZZZZ!!!!!

He suddenly felt his head buzzing terribly and his body suddenly started heating up as if his body was set by invisible flames.

'What is this!?' he immediately went on alert and took on defensive measures.

A flood of illusory blood appeared around his body and doused him completely. Even though he was covered in blood, he didn't seem to get wet as the blood tried to deal with the burning sensation around his body.

But, it wasn't working.

'What are these flames!?' he tried to sense the source of the flames and he was shocked.

His eyes turned to the little girl that sat on the bearman's shoulder and found out that the girl was staring at him with cold sharp eyes!

Her childish demeanor changed entirely and her initially pure blue eyes seemed to have changed along with it, within their midst, he could see the formation of another pair of bright golden irises.

BUZZZ!!!!

The buzzing in his head intensified and he heard a piercing but elegant cry that seemed to reach the depths of his soul!

"AARGHH!!!!!" A loud howl escaped from the mouth of Lord Edgar as he felt the heat of the flames on his body suddenly intensified tremendously!

Around Eadon, whether it was archmage Sacha who was currently in the mage's association or grandmaster Vulcan who was in his smithery, or the town lord Alera who was currently discussing with the town nobles. They all seemed to hear this painful howling which seemed to reflect great pain.

Alera immediately left the room he was in on the third floor of the town lord's castle and dashed out a window. Just before he fell to the ground though, a stone platform appeared out of nowhere and caught him, sending him flying to the sky.

Archmage Sacha flew out of the mage's association building, a white-haired, old, but still lively-looking old woman following behind him.

Grandmaster Vulcan just lifted his head from his work table and sensed around silently before going back to his work.

As Lord Edgar howled out in pain, countless waves of illusory blood appeared and constantly fought against the burning flames.

He gritted his teeth and looked at the little girl with blue eyes who was still staring coldly back at him. A phantom image suddenly appeared behind her that made his eyes burn!

Sky blue flames poured out from the void, forming an indistinct figure with outstretched wings, and a pair of piercing golden eyes stared down at him with disdain.

As Lord Edgar looked at this phantom image that appeared behind the girl's back, his mind reeled in unconcealed shock and fear.

'This can't be possible!' his mind shook and he poured out even more of the illusory blood to protect himself.

But the surprising thing was that even as all this was happening, nobody around seemed to notice!

Baluu was still staring curiously, trying to discover the hidden mind cleric that was casting the illusions that were terrifying Myra not knowing that a mind-shattering battle was happening right in front of him.

All the pedestrians passing by walked along without noticing a thing. The only people that noticed the battle were the three figures in the sky, Alera Tarmal who was joined by Sacha, and the white-haired old woman.

They looked down at the ground and saw the battle between the phantom blue flames and waves of illusory blood, their eyes exuding shock!

"What is happening in Eadon!?" Alera Tarmal's face looked grave as he asked the other two but he received no answer.

Both Sacha and the white-haired old woman were looking at the phantom image of the burning blue flames and the golden eyes, their eyes opened wide and their faces, white!
