Chapter 100 - !?

The beast could smell it, it was close!

Rushing through the trees with a burst of adrenaline, the brown-furred feline with white stripes used its extremely long legs to outpace the rest of the horde.

It quickly reached a place where the trees had been knocked down effectively blocking the path but it could not be bothered by that. Flexing its long legs, it leaped onto a fallen trunk and continued forward by leaping from one trunk to another.

Very soon, its deep yellow eyes that were tinged with a bloody red locked onto its goal, the huge carcasses of very powerful beasts.

NYEEIIGH!!!

The beast roared happily as it hurried on driven by its insatiable hunger. This was a high-grade meal!

THUD! THUD!

Suddenly, two beasts landed ahead of it with a loud thud. Their long bendy legs, red hairless skin, and large black eyes obstructing its view from its goal.

They would have looked like harmless herbivores if it wasn't for the fact that one of them suddenly opened its mouth. A long flickering tongue rolled out, caressing an assembly of sharp canines.

Applying small pressure on their legs, the two beasts suddenly launched themselves into the air once more. Heading for the carcasses in with undisguised glee hidden in their blood-filled eyes.

NYEEEEIIGH!!!!!

The feline was outraged! It got there first!

But the two beasts didn't get very far before they dropped abruptly to the ground following a bunch of sharp sounds tearing through the air.

SLIU! SLIU!! SLIU!!!

Numerous arrows flew out from the tall walls of Eadon felling the two beasts. Their bodies dropped to the ground resembling a pincushion in an old woman's living room.

The feline changed course abruptly, its high agility saving its life as a few arrows landed in its previous position. Using its powerful eyesight, it could see the source of the attack. The large nest of those powerful beings.

Although it normally feared the nest and made sure to avoid it at all cost, this time, a sense of rage-filled it as it watched them get ready to attack again.

They dared to stop it from its meal!?

The feline's eyes were practically dyed a deep red at this point as it glared at the walls and roared!

NYEEEEIIGH!!!!!

With long powerful pumps, it rushed the walls as quickly as it could. Dodging arrows and the occasional bursts of fire and earth along the way. It was too agile to be hit!

Very soon, it reached the large walls and with a powerful leap, got into the lower branches of a tree around and quickly scaled upwards.

Using the tree as leverage, it made a powerful leap upwards, far higher than it had ever gone before. It could feel its body being filled with an unimaginable power that filled it with confidence.

It would rip all of them to shreds!

NYEE-

BOOM!!

"That thing's roar was really irritating!" Rastel wiggled a finger into his ears as he saw the long-legged feline dropping down to the floor below.

His array avatar above him was still holding its hand outward as it had just launched a fireball spell.

Roxanne's chuckle could be heard beside him.

"No matter, you are actually doing very well. It seems like you have talent in controlling arrays." She gave him a little praise.

Rastel chuckled awkwardly. She probably didn't understand that a decent part of his fighting experience in-game was spent controlling things to fight for him.

'If I can't control such a simple thing I might as well throw out my immortal sculptor class on the streets and go on to become a monk.'

Looking at his array avatar above, he controlled it to lower its hand.

Controlling the array felt like controlling a golem to him but it was less troublesome. Golems needed more delicacy and control that he still hadn't fully mastered yet but for this avatar, it was as simple as saying "Beat that person up" and the person would automatically get beaten up.

It was far too easy!

And another cool thing about the array avatar was that….

"Vars, I'm counting on you." Rastel turned to Vars who was beside him.

"Okay." Vars nodded and pulled on the heavy metal bow he always carried around.

Using the array core, Rastel connected himself to Vars's array circle which lit up brightly. His avatar automatically followed Var's movements and pulled on an imaginary bow.

Mana swirled around and a formless bow appeared in the avatar's hands with an arrow accompanying it.

Still amazed by the magic array, Rastel gave it one last glance before chuckling.

"Fire"

BOOM! BOOM!! BOOM!!!

Arrow after arrow flew out and landed into the ranks of the horde that was now visible.

To make aiming at the beasts easier, the two beast carcasses were gathered at a point that had been cleared of its trees by their previous fight.

Rastel was still confused as to how the beast carcasses were moved as their size was truly too large.

'Do they have some type of heavy machinery? I don't think anyone would have enough muscle strength for this.' He shook his head silently and concentrated on the battle.

Although Vars was the one using his skill, the control of the avatar was still in his hands and he had to direct its movements and aim.

All around him, the battle was reaching a climax as more and more beasts were approaching the walls. Strategically inclined shouts of 'Fire!' echoed out continuously as rangers and mages fired off one projectile after the other.

The battle had entered full flow immediately the beasts appeared. At first, it was from just their side until eventually, there were beast attacks from all sides of town. It was like it was coordinated on the beasts' part as wave after wave came roaring out.

After they finished firing a volley of arrows, he had to pause and switch circuits. He had learned from Sacha that he couldn't connect to one person for a long time or else the array would malfunction.

He switched to Erik who promptly used an AOE skill at the space in front of the wall. Many beasts were charging forward, trying to scale the walls and get to them.

Although the town had a defensive array in place. It would not be activated except in dire situations as the cost was high so they had to be responsible for their own protection.

Speaking of Sacha, the archmage had been calmly watching him operate the array since the battle started which had filled him with a sense of apprehension at first but after a while, he decided to ignore this archmage.

This was because Sacha ended up murmuring incessantly to himself while stroking his mustache. Although his eyes were facing him, his mind was already in a far off realm.

What if a powerful magic beast suddenly appeared out of nowhere and launched a sneak attack? They would definitely die before this absent-minded archmage reacted.

He was truly an unreliable person!

Although it wasn't that magic beasts hadn't appeared until now. Even from the corner of his eye, he could see old Ferud blasting attacks viciously at a large beast that wore an exoskeleton like a cockroach.

This was their only reliable high-level combatant.

The beast was shooting out poison mist at old Ferud to try and defend itself but the eagle casually dispersed it with a flap of its wings.

With a violent burst of magic, countless air blades rained down and cut through the beast's hard exoskeleton leaving it in shreds.

Echoing a loud victorious screech, old Ferud flew into the air eagerly waiting for his next opponent.

Although Rastel was acting leisurely, the battle was truly ferocious. Apart from the arrays which were left in the hands of the masters to handle as the situation fits. The rest of the people stationed at the walls were fighting viciously throwing wave after wave of attacks at the increasing beast horde.

Some unlucky people had even gotten dragged off the wall by either flying beasts or those really good at climbing.

Although they were very few, Rastel still felt a loud pang in his heart whenever he heard the bone-chilling scream of somebody getting dragged off to their death.

To take his mind off it, he started creating casual talk with Roxanne who engaged him cheerfully. Although she didn't seem as disturbed by the screams as he was, or maybe she was already experienced in hiding such things.

After Erik finished launching his AOE attack which dealt debuffs to any beast that entered the area, Rastel switched to Redbone who eagerly used his own skill.

Banging his shield loudly, subtle magic waves were released which were amplified by the array avatar which banged its own mana solidified shield.

When those waves reached the beasts, an irritated look appeared on their faces as they left their original targets and headed in their direction effectively reducing the burden on the troops around them.

It was a taunting skill.

'My turn.' Rastel promptly started shooting earth pillars and fireballs at the approaching beasts.

With the help of the array, his INT stat had shot up to a terrifying 500 with his mana reaching over 5000! Rastel was spamming low leveled spells like he was pouring water out of a hose.

The beasts that he attacked basically all got frustrated to death as one low leveled spell after the other smashed into them until they died unresigned.

Even for the stronger ones, the result was no different. Just fire a few more times.

He suddenly noticed that there were a few beasts that seemed to be tanking his spells quite well and were already getting dangerously close. Narrowing his eyes, he called for his trump card.

"Lady Roxy, your help is required." He gestured at her.

"Of course it is, helping noobs like you is my duty." She smiled as she pulled down her long shotgun and aimed out, setting her sight down the barrel.

The avatar automatically mimicked her movements and a gun formed out of mana appeared in its hands and a loud shot was fired.

BANG!

The mana bullet flew with power and landed on the beast's head which blew up like a squashed watermelon. They moved their target to the next beast and one-shot it too.

Roxanne's nickname of one hit-one kill was fully displayed here. All beasts that experienced her attacks died immediately.

Rouges were known to have terrifying burst damage!

Aiming at the last beast that resembled an overgrown purple hamster, Rastel controlled the aim and fired at it ruthlessly.

The beast was trying to act as inconspicuous as possible and had already reached the walls and was scaling them with ease.

The mana bullet flew through the air towards the beast with great momentum. Not even bothering to look, they all turned their attention to another direction and Rastel switched over to Whitesoul to use a shield spell to fend off a few beasts.

Vars was the last person to turn away but before he could fully turn his face, he saw something that made his eyes tremble.

The small looking beast that looked like it was trying to stay hidden suddenly flashed purple and a lightning bolt struck out instantly dissipating the mana bullet.

His eyes widening in shock and fear, he reached out and violently tugged on Rastel's robe.

"Magic beast!"

"Wait what?!" Rastel turned to look over in alarm together with the rest of the group.

Seeing the huge hamster covered in lightning, he also couldn't help but yell out.

"MAGIC BEAST!?"
