"You all can get out of my sight. I don't need any bastard serving me!"
Vars looked really enraged for some reason.
'Eh…... really?'
Rastel subconsciously turned to Vars. This was free labor!
He was already planning on how to get them to hunt down beasts for them for free so that the mission could be finished faster. He wasn't expecting Vars to react this way.
'I mean they did attack us so maybe he is still angry about that?'
He tried to rationalize Vars's behavior.
"Do you fools feel I look like I need help!?"
Vars added angrily.
'Or maybe not'
He sighed internally.
Seems like his father's yelling still got under his skin even with all his rebellious attitude.
Looking at Vars glowering with righteous rage at the bewildered players, Rastel suddenly had the feeling that he was handling a troublesome child in his hands.
'All I have been doing is babysitting since I started this game I really don't understand.'
Taking a few slow steps, he moved closer to Vars and started whispering in his ear.
Redbone on the other hand was ecstatic!
Seeing Vars rebuke Erik so angrily, he felt like things didn't even need his physical interference to work out well.
He wanted to deal with Erik and along came the grandmaster's son. He wanted to stop Erik from selling himself into slavery and the grandmaster's son just happened to not want that too.
At this point, even a demon would feel that the heavens were on his side.
"Wait a second Vars…."
Rastel was trying to convince Vars that using the players was a good thing.
"You don't really need to reject their help now, do you? Even if you are not looking for people that would attend to your every need, we can get them to at least help us with hunting down the required quota that your father asked for."
He could see that Vars was stubborn about it as he had pursed his lips tightly and was looking quite unwilling.
He sighed faintly.
He really didn't want to work as much, hunting down so many beasts.
"See look at it this way."
He pointed at the setting sun.
"After what happened the last time, I don't think either of us is that willing to spend another night under the blood moon anytime soon. We can get this done within the hour with their help if we are fast enough. Then we can easily smack the result in your father's face, I am sure he would be shocked, don't you think?"
He ended with a chuckle.
Vars's weak spot seemed to be his father. Using that point to reinforce the fear of the blood moon seemed to work as Vars slowly nodded.
Rastel sighed happily and patted his shoulder.
"Then have them help us hunt then, let me go and get Myra so we can end this quickly.
Leaving Vars to deal with the players who were silently waiting for his judgment, he walked into the forest behind them to find Myra.
Using his connection with Amba, it was easy to trace her location. But just before he went far in, he stopped for a moment.
The bushes beside him parted and revealed a small figure dragging over a sword.
It was the smiley demon golem.
Back when Erik and his team had been pre-occupied with Vars's surprising bombardment at Little eye, he had sneakily dropped the smiley demon into a nearby shrub and was planning on using it to ambush them when they were unsuspecting.
When he knocked down Bareblade and was fending off the two mages, he had sent the smiley demon to secretly steal the sword under all the chaos to effectively disarm this troublesome melee opponent.
Now that Bareblade and the rest were going to be working for them, he had to return it to him.
Picking up the plain iron sword, he took a close look at it and didn't see anything special.
"Not worth stealing."
He murmured to himself as he caught the transformed figure of the smiley demon in his hand.
Swinging the sword casually, he went towards Myra's direction and found her casually playing with Amba without a care.
The golem raised its small head and looked at Rastel, its expression looking somewhat condescending.
'I know I can't be having her run away all the time but I am weak alright?'
He casually dismissed Amba's meaningful looks and brought Myra away who was quite happy to see him.
Holding the sword in one hand and her hand in the other, they walked out of the woods towards where Vars was.
All the players including Redbone and his team were surrounding Vars, looking life faithful attendants.
Rastel found it quite funny but he held himself.
Seeing the two hooded figures coming out of the woods, the players were quite curious about their identity.
They could easily tell that the tall one was a player, the signifying arrow was quite obvious.
But the little one was not and the fact that this person was traveling with the grandmaster's son made them quite envious.
Vars even seemed to listen to him.
"That's my sword!"
Bareblade yelled as he saw Rastel casually swinging his sword around. Rastel tossed it to him without another word and he caught it a bit awkwardly, still shocked at how it appeared in his hands.
The sword had magically disappeared when they were fighting, how did he get it?
'Does this person actually have some unique spatial skill? That's terrifying!'
Bareblade's thoughts went wild.
"We should go before it gets too late."
Vars stepped forward and said.
Walking quickly, he went towards the enclosed earthen walls that housed the dead cariyl. With a powerful swing of his hand filled with red light, he smashed one of the walls to pieces shocking the players present.
'I really wonder what kind of skill that is, Vars should be a ranger type shouldn't he?'
Rastel kept his cool as he watched Vars take off the bag he wore on his back and put in the carcass of the huge cariyl into the seemingly small bag.
It was obviously a spatial bag. Although spatial items were rare and very expensive, for someone like a dwarven grandmaster, they had about the same level of rarity as a magic beast soup.
A bit troublesome to get your hands on, but also something you can easily get after a good night's sleep.
Basically, it wasn't much trouble at all.
Leading the players, Vars went to some popular hunting spots in the woods around Eadon.
They were lucky and didn't meet any berserk or magic beasts and spent the next two hours hunting down different beasts.
Rastel just stood by the side with Myra and did nothing, feeling like a VIP.
The other players were working hard to try and prove themselves to Vars, having him recognize their combat skill to curry favor.
The worst of them was the dwarf who Rastel learned was called Silver Tooth. He acted like some crazed fan and always went around Vars trying to seek approval which annoyed Vars to no end.
Little eye and the loli assassin called Black Raven which Rastel thought was a cliché name scouted ahead while the rest took care of the main fighting.
With Erik's crowd control skills as an elementalist, the beasts never got far before they were cut down by either the warrior's vicious strikes or the mage's powerful spells.
Myra seemed excited watching them fight and constantly questioned Rastel on some things.
With his limited knowledge of some of the skills they used, he could only give her vague answers but she had so much trust in him that she believed everything he said.
By the time they were done, the sun was nowhere to be seen and the blood moon was already shining down with its ominous light.
They could already see a lot of hunters and players returning to the safety of the town's walls.
'This should be enough.'
They had just hunted a large deer-like beast that Rastel almost mistook for a bulee.
This beast was different in the fact that it had very short fur and short horns. It was much larger than a bulee, at least twice the size of an average bulee, and was very slow.
They had caught it a point where the forest bordered a large plain to the north towards the direction of Kurn.
From that point, they could all see the walls of Kurn from a distance. It was glowing with light from the city, lighting up the horizon.
The Epilus canyons were barely visible from the backdrop.
Even though it only looked like a piece of rock from the distance, it still had this boundless feeling like it couldn't be overcome. The walled city of Kurn.
'Should take a few days.'
Rastel thought in his mind as he looked at the bright walls while the rest started heading back to Eadon.
'Once we reach Kurn, I can finally meet up with that retard and leave this kingdom.'
A smile appeared on his lips when he thought about this.
He can finally start his adventure!
"I hope no more weird shit happens."
He sighed to himself as he pulled on Myra's arm who was still gazing at the far-off city.
They hadn't gone far into the forest when all of a sudden, a loud screech tore through the skies.
KWEEEEIIIIIIIIIIK!!!!!!
The sound was so ear-piercing that it reached all across to Eadon where people were slowly going through the gates, forcing them to look up abruptly.
Rastel and the others felt the screech was much closer and quickly ran back to the forest edge to take a look, what they saw filling them with awe and an inconceivable fear!
In the skies coming from the northeast, an obscenely large bird was latching stubbornly to an equally huge figure of an alligator looking beast which was fighting viciously with fangs, claws, and tail.
With its teeth clamped down strongly on the bird's leg, it clawed ferociously at the birds feathers which rained down with every strike and bashed it repeatedly with its tail.
The bird was giving as much as it got, tearing off the alligator's scales with its claws and pecking viciously with its beak.
The light from the blood moon gave an eerie backdrop as blood flooded down by the buckets but both beasts didn't seem to mind, only the thought of the other's death drove them.
Staring at this dangerously amazing scene, they all felt speechless with their mouths hanging open with fear.
The beasts were heading straight in this direction!
Rastel's face was particularly ugly under the hood as he cursed himself viciously in his mind.
'Fuck my mouth!'
