Chapter 67 - Three Guilds

In the middle of the walled city of Kurn laid the most majestic property that occupied its circular walls. This complex was a mix of tall spires, large domed buildings, long intersecting hallways and small gardens connected to each other by beautiful stone paved paths.

This was unsurprisingly, the residence of the city lord who held absolute power within the city. As the residence of the lord of one of the four walled cities within the kingdom of Gorm, it was naturally a magnificent sight.

There were armed guards constantly patrolling the grounds, officials moving around with one purpose or the other and servants working busily throughout the day.

It matched the expected scene of the center of government for a naturally prosperous city.

As the walled city of Kurn was the closest to the Epilus canyons, it easily became a gathering place for skilled warriors and powerful mages to set as their base.

And as the lord of such a place teeming with powerful figures, the city lord was naturally a renowned and feared figure himself. Otherwise, there would always be people seeking to create trouble within the city.

At this moment, an elegant carriage drawn by huge beast pulled in front of the large arched entrance to the grounds of the city lord's residence.

The beast was huge and bulky but was standing at about a meter tall. It was covered with yellow fur and had short beefy legs to carry its immense weight with a large round head and glazed over eyes.

To say it in a phrase, it looked cute.

And even quite harmless as it looked around with lazy eyes and chewed quietly at something in its mouth.

The carriage itself was very beautiful as it was made with a bright yellow, almost golden colored wood. There were pieces of metal sprayed with a soft light blue with small curtains of the same color showing through the glass windows.

And on the door of the closed carriage, there was the emblem of a blue leaf that looked like it was floating in the wind.

The carriage driver who was an inconspicuous young man jumped down hurriedly and went to open the door.

He was wearing a light full-body leather armor that was made with mostly blue dyed leather and had a long black whip in his hands.

As he opened the door, the first person who emerged was a man with short blonde hair and deep black eyes.

He had a complete set of leather and metal armor covering his body with blue and black pieces to form a beautiful looking set. An emblem of a blue leaf rested on his metal breastplate over his heart.

He fondled with the sword handle that protruded out of his back and stared around with his profound looking eyes before standing to the side.

The next person to emerge was a tall muan lady wearing a simple long blue robe with the same leaf emblem over her heart. She had long black hair with blue streaks that was tied up in braids and bright blue eyes that seemed to glow.

She wore a plain looking expression that seemed unconcerned with anything happening around her.

She stood on the other side of the door from the blonde man and waited.

The last person to come out was a man wearing a long blue shirt with buttons running down it and black trousers underneath.

He had shiny dark blue hair and eyes of a matching color. With the small amiable smile on his face, he looked like a friendly and heartwarming person to anyone passing by.

The man took the lead and the three of them walked towards the entrance with the other two flanking him.

They hadn't gone far when they suddenly heard a sonorous ringing of the wind behind them. They all subconsciously looked up and saw a spectacular scene.

There were three figures flying through the air right above them at a moderate height whom slowed down at that moment. As they slowly descended, their mode of travel could clearly be seen to the trio.

They were riding on swords!

The blonde man felt his lips twitching when he saw them and the muan lady just stared at them with a deep gaze. The man in middle held an ambiguous smile as he watched them land.

"Hmph! It is those crooks from the blue leaf guild. I am surprised you people have the decency to arrive early."

An indignant voice rang out from the trio who were riding the swords.

They were three men all dressed in pure white robes. The one in the middle was a human with skin so pale that someone could almost mistake him for a high elf.

He was very tall and slender with long black hair tied in a ponytail and had a proud composed aura that made it look like he was looking down on everyone in his sight.

The person who talked was located by his right and had a dark tanned skin. His most noticeable traits were his eyebrows which were very bushy and his short black hair which was looking rough and uncared for.

As they touched the floor, the three swords they were riding flew out from underneath them and gathered behind the third man who was gazing at the opposite side with serious eyes.

The swords seemed to superpose on each other and formed one sword which he grabbed and sheathed on his hip.

He had long black hair that wasn't tied up and sharp eyebrows that looked like he had trimmed to resemble swords. His entire demeanor was glaring as he looked like he would pull out a blade and stab the person standing next to him without a moment's notice.

"First brother, these bastards actually got called over by the city lord too? Doesn't he know that they are shameless people?" the second person looked at the tall man in their middle.

The man called first brother looked at the blue haired man opposite him with condescending eyes and his gaze was matched with a smiling and slightly amused one.

"You arrived early, guild leader Feng."

The blue haired man just broadened his smile but didn't reply.

The first brother harrumphed softly before looking at the stoic muan and blonde haired man who was staring heatedly at their side.

He was about to open his lips to say something when they heard the approach of another carriage and everyone simultaneously turned to the direction of the sound.

This carriage was a bit peculiar as it was opened up and had no roof. There were also no walls to speak of as there were only poles at its four edges on which colorful curtains were draped over.

It was being pulled by a pack of boar like creatures with menacing tusks, bright red fur and black colored eyes.

As the carriage pulled up to the entrance, the front curtains were pulled back on opposite sides by long slender arms and a huge figure emerged from within.

It was a huge tiger beastman, one of the tree cat beastman races given to players. The beastman had a bulging muscular frame with orange fur and black stripes.

He wore nothing but a wrapper on his lower body made with some type of silk and on his neck hung a large golden necklace that depicted a golden Buddha.

His facial features were soft and despite his intimidating build, he looked like someone who would do no harm.

Two cat beastmen dressed seductively in similar material alighted from the carriage on both sides and held onto his arms. They looked like cheetahs with their slender forms and lithe movements.

They walked up to meet the others and the tiger beastman called out with a greeting.

"Leader Feng and Leader Yu, I hope I met you in good health?"

Despite what seemed to be an ongoing rivalry bubbling between the two groups, the two men he greeted replied him with pleasantries as well.

"How is your matters, guild leader Rudra?" guild leader Feng asked him with an amiable smile.

"It has been well with me leader Feng." Rudra's face blossomed with a gentle smile.

"I heard about your loss with that special class, Sleeping beauty? It was very unfortunate indeed. To think that even a quasi-commander lost to him, he must be very powerful. Such a huge loss."

Rudra sighed as he suddenly brought up another matter.

"Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!" mocking laughter suddenly rang out from among the three white robed brothers.

The blonde haired man suddenly frowned and turned to look at the bushy browed man who was laughing uproariously at the back.

"What is the matter third brother?" the man called leader Yu asked him with a side glance.

"First brother isn't it hilarious? They can act all high and mighty in other places but the truth is a 'powerful' quasi-commander from their guild couldn't even take care of a low leveled newbie. Isn't that a disgrace or what?"

The face of the blonde haired man suddenly took a dangerous shade as he glared at the third brother.

The smile on Feng's face had turned ambiguous once more but he didn't turn his attention there and continued talking with Rudra.

"It was indeed unfortunate, but it is not much trouble. Who knows? Maybe your Heaven's claw guild may have fate with him."

He said with a small nod.

"Don't say it like that guild leader Feng. It is truly unfortunate for that Sleeping beauty to miss being part of a guild like your Blue leaf. It can be counted as a loss for him."

Rudra shook his large head sadly.

"Besides, you know my Heaven's claw guild only takes in beastmen" he gave a small smile.

"Just disgraceful! The guild leader of Blue leaf guild is truly disgraceful! 'It is not much trouble'? Hah….."

The person known as third brother seemed to be intent in making trouble as he spoke out once more.

This time, not only the blonde haired man but even the stoic looking muan lady had her expression twitch a little.

"If it was in my Mountain sword guild, there is no way a quasi-commander would even fail such a simple mission in the first place. What was the person's name again? Wasser or what was it? Such useless people, our first brother would never be blind enough to have them in our guild in the first place!"

SCREE!

CLANG!!!

SLIU! SLIU!

In just a second, a series of actions had already taken place.

"What are you people doing!?" the exasperated voice of guild leader Rudra echoed out.

The blonde haired man was standing right in front of the bushy browed third brother with his short sword drawn and aimed at his neck.

His attack though was blocked by a glowing sword that was actually hovering right in front of him!

The third brother had his eyes opened wide in a daze. Just in front of him was a glowing shield of light that was trembling slightly as if it was hit with a strong impact.

He turned his eyes to his first brother whose hand was extended towards him to maintain the shield.

Guild leader Yu turned and gave the silent muan standing beside Feng a meaningful glance but she held her composure as if the attack had nothing to do with her.

The other man with the sword shaped brows was frowning greatly as he controlled his sword to block the blonde man's attack.

Having recovered from his shock, the third brother roared in anger as he took out a long sword from his inventory and yelled out.

"They dared to make a move on me!? First brother! Second brother! Let's teach these disgraceful people a lesson!"

"Calm down" Yu glanced at him.

He looked towards Feng who was still standing quietly with his ambiguous smile and questioned him.

"Guild leader Feng, what is the meaning of this?"

Feng just looked at the woman by his side and the blonde man with his sword drawn and chuckled slightly.

"Hunter, stand down"

The blonde man clicked his tongue but still pulled back his sword and returned to his side. The floating sword also returned to the second brother's hip.

Turning to face Yu who had deactivated his shield, Feng said in a slightly dry tone.

"It is better you leash your dogs leader Yu, lest they bite someone they shouldn't outside and get disposed of for it"

"YOU DARE!" the third brother howled out in anger.

"Is this a threat, guild leader Feng?" Yu's eyebrows creased into a frown.

"What threat?" Feng's face seemed to show genuine surprise.

"I am telling you to be considerate towards other people, nobody likes an untrained dog."

His calm voice and playful eyes held a tinge of amusement but at this point, his aura had turned into something vicious and fearful!

Before the situation could derail any further, a smooth clear voice called out to them from the entrance.

"You are all here? Good! The city lord is prepared to meet you. Please follow me and we would quickly get to it"

A man in a luxurious white fur coat called to them from the entrance.

Rudra was the first person to acknowledge the man and approached him while giving out pleasant greetings with his two female escorts beside him.

The third brother of the Mountain sword guild huffed angrily as he put his sword back into his inventory before following Yu and his second brother as they also headed towards the man.

Feng shook his head before looking at the two people at his side.

"I expected Hunter to be angry but I didn't think you would make a move as well Lysa"

Hunter's eyes narrowed as he fondled his sword handle in discontent.

Lysa's glowing blue eyes looked at Feng momentarily before she answered.

"Nobody is allowed to insult you, guild leader."

Feng chuckled at her answer before he also stepped forward.

"That warms my heart Lysa. We shouldn't keep them waiting now, should we?"

And with that, the three of them met up with the group before they were led inside to meet the illustrious figure of Kurn's city lord.
