Footsteps echoed through the cavern walls as Doe and Rastel aimed for the necromancer. The wood elf was running towards the back of the cavern where Rastel already noticed the mass of corpses laying on a huge bed.
He pushed it to the back of his mind as he chanted a fireball spell at the necromancer to slow him down. Noticing the attack, the necromancer fired off a mass of darkness that swallowed up the spell entirely before it reached him.
'Darkness magic? Isn't that a bit too much?' Rastel was surprised at how useless his attack was. Doe on the other hand reached behind her and pulled out a bunch of needles from some hidden pocket.
She fired them off at quick speed at the retreating wood elf. At this point, Deqi had already reached the massive bed. He had reached his hand towards a particular corpse when the three needles stab into his extended hand simultaneously.
"Aaaeee!" he screamed in pain as he saw that part of his arm turn a sick purple. Gritting his teeth in pain, he still continued to reached out and cast the spell that he was aiming too.
But Doe was already upon him as she aimed viciously at his neck with the fancy dagger in her hand. Deqi stumbled backwards onto the bed as he erected an earth wall to stand between him and his attacker.
Seeing the situation, Rastel who wasn't far behind used an earth pillar to launch himself high into the air and in sight of the cowering wood elf. He launched two fireballs this time with one slightly behind the other in case the first one was countered.
The balls of flame burned through the short distance as they whistled towards the unprepared elf but out of the blue, a bronze colored body emerged from the mass of corpses and stood in front of the necromancer.
BOOM!
BOOM!
The sound of the explosions sent tremors through the small cavern as the fireballs hit the target and even destroyed the top of the earth wall in the process. Doe pulled back a little from the explosion with her blade on guard and her eyes narrowed considerably.
Rastel landed right beside her as he readied another spell with the immortal's blade still in his hand. He turned to look at her and opened his mouth to tell her something when he suddenly heard the necromancer's voice again.
"Y…you, you! That was my blade! How did you get it!!?" his voice echoed with disbelief from behind the earth wall. He had lost that blade two years ago when he last visited the kingdom of Gorm, how did it resurface here?
Rastel turned to look at the blade she was wielding. It was intricately carved and beautiful, not something you would take for killing. 'His blade?'
Doe showed a savage sneer on her face as she answered him. "Why don't you take a guess?"
By now, Rastel could see the hulking bronze skinned figure that tanked his spells with its long red hair covering its face and a long whip like tail. The person only wore a pair of short ragged trousers and its pure muscular build could be seen in all its intimidating capacity.
'A devil!' was the first thought that came to his mind. He had seen many devils before from forums and gameplays he had watched. The build of the species was undeniably unique and not possible to mistake.
'It doesn't look alive, an undead? That's a problem. Devils are naturally aligned with the fire element and have a natural resistance to it, normal flames can't burn them if I remember correctly. That's my best offensive spell going out the window.' He immediately became depressed.
He had not gone to a town or one of the cities yet so he didn't have access to many spells. And considering his sub class was already set, he couldn't get any more powerful spells since they were class related and he would be limited to beginner level spells for the rest of his gameplay.
Unless the immortal's diary gave him one, all he had been given was the first move of the carving series and that wasn't even a mage skill. 'I guess it's still a useful skill, if I can get close enough, I'm sure lopping off a few body parts can guarantee me a win.' He started counting his options.
While he was thinking of possible ways to win the fight, the necromancer was in deep thought for a moment before suddenly exclaiming. "That's impossible! You can't possibly be that woman, I am sure I killed you!"
Doe only stared back coolly for a while before rushing forward in an attack! The motionless devil also rushed forward breaking apart the remainder of the earth wall in front of it with amazing strength!
Reacting quickly, Rastel used two earth pillars to try and trip the undead in its path but it easily broke through them also. It charged at Doe's smaller figure with a shoulder tackle with incredible speed to smash into her as they rapidly closed in.
With quick but graceful movements, she twirled on her feet at the last moment and dodged the attack by shifting to the side while using the force from her spin to stab the dagger forcefully towards the back of the devil's head!
Seeing the dire situation, the necromancer had already prepared a spell as he fired off arrows formed of dark energy to intercept her but they were easily cancelled out by the countless fire slashes Rastel sent his way. Since he had no real means of attacking, he would let the pro at close combat take the lead and he would act as the support!
The blade smashed into the head of the undead with destructive force easily opening up a large hole, it was apparent that she had used a skill of some kind. Without any hesitation, Doe withdrew her hand and pulled back the blade to launch for another attack but the necromancer was ahead of her.
With a thought from him, the devil took a step to the side and grabbed at her figure. In such close range and while in the middle of launching an attack, it was impossible for her to dodge.
The undead devil grabbed her by the waist and used its great strength to throw her in the opposite direction of the cavern!
She managed to quickly straighten her posture in midair and tried to slow down her speed by grinding her boots into the ground but it wasn't enough, she formed a long ridge across the floor before smashing into an opposite wall.
SCREECH!
BOOM!!!
She grunted in pain and slumped on the floor in pain. Rastel quickly retreated at the sight of this and erected several earth walls to aid his retreat. The undead turned its attention as it rushed at his figure smashing straight through the walls to get at him!
'Heh? This is going to be interesting at least.' Without any sign of alarm, he calmly anticipated the attack while retreating in the opposite direction of Doe's position.
The devil quickly reached him without much fanfare, Rastel's speed could not even compare with it. The necromancer was excited at this scene now. If he took down the annoying mage together with the assassin, half of his problems would be gone!
All that would be left would be the warrior, archer and light priest that were still fighting his uncompleted specimens. They might have been a problem if he was alone, fighting was never his strong suit. But with the presence of this his specimen, his victory was basically guaranteed!
Even if that wasn't enough, he still hadn't taken out his final card. The thing he had kept hidden in his inter spatial ring all this while. He was invincible with that power. If he still had his army around, he could possibly even go rule a town somewhere with that power behind him.
'It would be ready anytime soon. Depending on the situation then, I will show these bastards true fear!' he smiled viciously as he glanced at the red pool before turning his gaze back to the attacking devil.
The devil had by this time reached close enough to throw a punch. With a thought from the necromancer, it pulled back its right arm as it threw forward a heavy punch towards Rastel's head.
Rastel who was retreating backwards suddenly took a stand as he surprisingly, reached out on his own! He bent a little to the side and with nimble movements, grabbed the approaching fist by its length as he skillfully redirected the attack.
The devil that relied basically on remote controls from the necromancer easily lost its balance and with a quick twist and turn from Rastel, the undead easily had its legs up in the air and in the next moment, smashed down into the ground with a resounding boom.
BOOM!!!
Rastel never forgot what he learnt from old man Oron. Even if it was a game, it didn't mean all he had to rely on was the in game skills. This was VR!
The force of the devil's charge was so strong that after he redirected the charge and sent it smashing into the ground, it created a sizable crack in the cavern floor.
Rastel didn't waste any time as he bent down and with a swing of his immortal's blade, he activated the only skill he had in relation to it.
Carving series! First strike!
Without much fanfare, the head of the devil came rolling off the body. Rastel calmly took a step back as he stared at the necromancer with cold eyes, the necromancer took a step back in fear as he did not expect this development at all! That was his best specimen!
Rastel turned to check up on Doe's situation and found out that she was up. At some time, Iron and his group had arrived at the cavern and Snow was healing her.
She stood up, shrugging off her injuries as she levelled her blade at the necromancer. "Your precious specimen is done for now. I shall see how you would stop this blade from piercing your heart today" her hoarse voice sounded coldly.
The necromancer stared at her and Iron's group in fear before sending his gaze back to Rastel. Gritting his teeth, he couldn't help but mutter under his breath. "There's no other way now, I need more time!"
He looked back at Doe as he let out a nervous laugh. "Hehehe! You know ever since I saw you and that blade, I thought it couldn't be true but it might just be. You are that assassin I killed off that night 2 years ago! I don't know how you survived it, but I guess you might be here to take revenge? Hehehe! Are you not even going to ask me about other matters? Like say...your daughter perhaps?"
Doe's entire aura took a drastic drop at that point. Everyone in the cavern could see the unbridled rage boiling out of her as she stared at the elven necromancer with pure killing intent!
The necromancer just chuckled nervously again and continued. "What are you getting angry about, I'm trying to tell you good news. Don't you want to meet your daughter again? I am sure she wants to meet you too."
Rastel was already having a bad feeling about the development at this point. Although the Necromancer's seemingly last fighting undead was gone, he didn't seem really distressed and could even chat. 'I have to take him down before he pulls out some weird trick'
But before he could make a move, he bore witness to a strange scene. As the necromancer stopped talking, waved his hands towards the mass laying on the huge bed that seemed out of place in the earthen cavern.
The mass of bodies slowly moved as figure began to emerge from within. Soon, everybody in the cavern saw the body of a small girl not older than 10 come out of the small pile.
She had golden blonde hair, light brown eyes and a pale but beautiful face. She was wearing a pure white dress that covered up to her knee and her eyes were glazed over as she stepped out in the direction of Doe and company.
'That couldn't possibly be could it?' Rastel feared for the worst as he quickly turned to Doe only to see her expression changing rapidly from shock, fear, hope and then an expression he couldn't define.
"Little…... flower?" her voice cracked as she spoke.
