Myra had her heart in her throat as she watched the battle start between the two men. When the hero got hit by an arrow, she had almost jumped out immediately to go and heal him but she managed to keep her feelings in check. She was very aware that she would be a burden in the fight.
When she saw him recover and even land a strike on the elf, she cheered silently in her head and clenched her fists tightly. But as the fight ensured, she kept feeling a sense of ill foreboding until she suddenly saw Rastel tumbled to the floor for no apparent reason.
'No!' she covered her mouth to stop herself from crying out.
The hero seemed to be in serious pain from the poison and the elf was rambling some nonsense. She clenched her fist and grinded her teeth as she had conflicting thoughts on what to do.
If she went out to save him and got captured in the process, the situation would turn for worse and there would be no help arriving. But if she didn't come out now, the elf would successfully capture the hero and she would have no way of rescuing him back as she was all alone.
As she thought of this, she mentally slapped herself for even making these considerations. The hero had saved her then without thinking much about it and even preparing to charge through a crowd of enemies to get her to safety, she had to at least be able to do this for him.
If she could get to him on time and heal him before the elf approached, he would be able to continue the fight. If it was such a low levelled poison like the elf just mentioned, she was confident in her skill to purge it out.
She stood up and stealthily made her way to the edge of the clearing. She readied a powerful healing spell first before getting ready to charge towards the hero's now still form. But before she could move out, she saw Amba stealthily getting up and charging the elf and then, the hero mumbled out something.
The elf concentrating on what the hero was saying didn't notice Amba until it was too late. Amba then snapped the elf's bow in two and the hero, in a miraculous burst of strength stood up and launched an attack that cut through the elf's face.
Myra felt her blood freeze from the bloodcurdling scream that erupted from the elf's throat before he got smashed into the floor by Amba.
The hero mumbled something and fell soon after but by this time, she was already rushing to his position with all her strength.
Amba picked Rastel up and cradled him in its big arms while grunting in sadness and displeasure. Myra scrapped her knee a bit as she crashed into a kneeling position in front of Amba and quickly cast the healing spell she had prepared.
After that, she quickly inspected his vital signs and checked his blood flow before determining how far the poison had gone and if there were any serious problems. She then cast a poison curing spell on him before using a special spell to feed him mana and stimulate his body to resist the paralysis.
Amba stared at her with worried eyes as she went to work, if not for the fact that she had saved its master before, it would not have been this calm with the issue.
Rastel's lifeless face stared up as she finished casting her spells. He was paralyzed and was slowly losing consciousness due to the pain so he could barely register what was happening outside. Myra looked on with a worried expression as she held his hands waiting for the spells to take effect.
Suddenly, his lips twitched before he spurted out a huge amount of green tinged blood from his mouth to the side. Myra couldn't stop the sigh of relief that came out of her lips, she instantly cast another spell to heal any remaining injuries the poison might have caused before slumping down in exhaustion. All the spells she had casted were rather high level for her so she was tired.
Rastel recovered from the poison as he slowly regained his bearings. He turned to look at Myra's tired and watery eyes and then them Amba's concerned ones before sighing out loud. 'I really need to stop getting poisoned'.
"Are you okay hero? Does it hurt anywhere?" Myra seemed nearly in tears as she asked him.
"Yeah Myra, I'm fine" he croaked back at her. His voice seemed to be strained.
She had saved him again from a level of danger he felt shouldn't be possible for a girl her age. But no matter how many times he inspected her, he still couldn't see her level.
"With the way we're going we will have to seriously reconsider who is the hero among the both of us" Rastel chuckled out loud.
Amba snorted and Myra blushed a little at the statement. Rastel slowly stood up from within Amba's embrace and stretched his body. Although the game reduced the pain received by a significant amount, getting stabbed, poisoned and shot at still took some getting used to.
"I guess it is part of the full experience" he mumbled to himself as he looked down at the elf who lay motionless.
There was a small pool of blood under his head and he seemed really still. All of a sudden, Rastel felt a deep confliction in his heart. Although he aimed to incapacitate and defeat his enemy, he still felt somewhat about killing them especially in a situation like this.
He bent down and took the elf's hand to feel his pulse, he was still alive!
"Hey Myra, can you do me another favor?" he turned to look at her.
Myra suddenly came to attention, eager to help.
After finding their horse by the path and setting their carriage right with the help of Amba, Rastel and Myra continued their journey like nothing ever happened. But this time, Rastel was controlling the cart while Myra rested inside.
She felt tired after all the healing she had performed and was sleeping soundly. Rastel on the other hand thought about his battle with the elf. Amba had chastised him mentally through their link for being careless.
"Really it is not my fault, how was I supposed to know it was poisoned?!" he had defended himself fiercely. The golem was like a nagging mother as it kept grunting at him.
"It is a battle. Injuries are to be expected, I can't avoid it!" he tossed back at the golem.
The golem seemed to slump its shoulders at this point as if it had given up.
Myra looking at them couldn't help but chip in." Hero, Amba is….. he is actually just worried about you. It is scary to see you get hurt so that is why... if you understand….." she seemed to fumble with the right words to say.
"He..." Rastel looked at Amba and suddenly became aware of something. Although he had treated the golem friendlily and even talked to it, it seemed he had always subconsciously not really regarded the golem as an actual living thing with thoughts and considerations.
The immortal had regarded Amba as a friend and companion not just as a weapon. Now that he thought about it, when he got poisoned in the fight, he remembered the feelings of pain Amba felt shared through their connection. Amba had even come out of his own violation when he was fatally injured against the assassin to take revenge for him. Looking at the long face of the golem again, he felt a little bad about it.
"Well erh….. sorry buddy. I promise to be a more careful next time." He said with a slightly embarrassed face. It was not like he liked getting injured either.
Amba seemed to take the apology well and brightened up instantly. They had quickly left the scene not long after to resume their journey.
Rastel sighed as he opened up his stats to check his skills, it seemed that the first strike of the carving series was quite powerful. He wondered what other skills he would have access to later on.
He was just checking his stats when he noticed an abnormality.
"Huh?"
Back at the site of the battle, Waeser stirred in pain as he slowly regained consciousness. He could vaguely remember the battle with the muan when suddenly, he hissed in pain as he remembered the blade attack and his hands shot up to his face.
"Huh?" he felt his face and saw that there was no blood flowing out but….
'I can't see, I have lost an eye?' his mind was slow to react as the full implication of what occurred hit him.
"Fuck!!!" he roared in anger.
