Shirley woke up after a few hours of fitful sleep. Her head was pounding and for the time being, she was not able to recall the previous events. She was still wondering what the hell happened to her when all of it suddenly came to her. It made her headache worse. She clutched her head trying to align her thoughts. She was not able to make either head or tail out of it. She decided to let it go for a while. Moving out of her bed she stumbled as she tried to stand up. She looked down and saw that she was stark naked.
She looked around and saw that no one was here then again looked down at her unclothed body. Her gaze drifted over the empty bottle of Rum. She knew that was the cause of her pitiful state. Bending over she picked the now empty bottle and looked at it. It was a pretty bottle she concluded. She gently put the bottle on the table and could not help the sigh that escaped her lips.
Her heart, right at this moment, was just like that bottle, empty.
She did not know why she was feeling like this. She figured after taking some medicine it would make sense.
Too lazy to bother with clothes, she wrapped the sheet around her and then went out of her room. Taking out the medicine from the kitchen cabinet she took two and then washed it down with a glass of water. She settled at the chair and waited for the medicine to kick in.
Meanwhile, her hangover started to make sense. She finally got her thoughts in a row. When she recalled all of the things Aaron said to her she felt her insides lit ablaze.
Fury swelled inside her when she remembered what happened last night. Her headache had become bearable and suddenly she recalled something else too. On the day of his return, it was also their one year anniversary and she wanted to give him a special gift. Their relationship was going through rough waters and she wanted to do this to make him feel her sincerity towards him. He had always hinted at it but she never wanted to do that. She never felt comfortable enough to comply with his wish.
But that night after she had done all of the preparations she had decided to fulfill his desire. So she had gathered her courage and did it. She was in the middle of it when she had heard the door. She thought that he had come and continued to carry on to make it more pleasing for him but then nobody came and she was so lost in it that she had forgotten all about it.
Now she knew what and where it went wrong.
