CHAPTER 28
BOOTH
Louise
Were here at school to finish building our booth. The students are busy building their booth and decorating it for more income by department. Were here busy at decorating our booth and I'm one of the student that our seniors assign to cook dessert the bibingka and puto cheese. I thought that maybe I should cook it later at night so I will just reheat it tomorrow and it's a thing that I already bought the ingredients yesterday.
While we are still busy decorating it were shock when a group of students stop by in front of our booth then I saw that they are my friends. They are fetching me to eat snacks because it's their break time already, that's why I ask my seniors for permission to went on the cafeteria to eat snacks. They are almost done fixing their booth while we are not done decorating our booth. "Lou, what year was the assign to be on your booth tomorrow?" Jenny asks me. "Our seniors because we help building and decorating our booth. Besides we will also help them to cook the food that we will serve for a week" I answered at them with a smile.
"Oh, that's a great news! We are also not assign to be on our booth so we can wander around on every booth that our school have" Miks said with full of excitement. "What are the dishes that your booth will serve? So we can eat there tomorrow" Arch said with a smile. "We will serve paella, adobo, sinigang, menudo, caldereta, and many more. For the desert we have banana que, camote cue, biko, kalamay, Butchi, cassava cake, bibingka, Maja, at many more. For the pastries we have empanada, polvoron, buko pie, bread pudding, and many more" I answered proudly.
"Interesting! It's only my first time to hear a booth promoting the Filipino cuisine that's so amusing while the others are serving the several international cuisines" Kev said with a smile. "That's why we delightful and impress for your group's dedication to promote the Filipino cuisines. I just hope that everyone will love our local products and cuisine" Gio said with a smile.
"Lou, are you one of the students, who will cook the food to be serve on your booth?" Gav asks me. "Yes, I will the one to cook bibingka and puto cheese" I said with a smile. "Wow, that's delicious because I can always eat that every time we went to Ate Belle's province" Jenny said amusingly. "Yeah, were surprise that you how to cook that food" Gav said with a smile. After we ate our snacks, we come back to gymnasium and when I reach on our booth I saw that it only need final touch because our groupmates arrive who takes their snacks earlier.
The design, style, and interior of our booth represents not just Filipino people but also our country. I know that there are a lot of elites that doesn't even know the Filipino cuisines. They are thinking that these kind of foods are for the poor families only. I'm happy that we come up to decision to serve Filipino cuisines because it's a great chance to introduce to the elites how great and delicious foods it is.
I know that almost all of them grow up that their parents are restricting them to eat foods like that especially the street foods because they are thinking that it is filthy. I'm proud to our leader because she wants our foundation week to be the instrument to promote our very own delicacies.
Three-fourth of the decoration was already and ambiance was so inviting that's why we are excited to do the final touches and to see the results. There are only few freshmen who helps building the booth because they want assist our customers once the foundation day starts. After three hours we finish designing our booth exactly when my friends arrive in front of our booth. Were satisfied for the fruit of our hard work and unity to finish it.
"So Lou, you will bring a lot of things tomorrow?" Gav asks me. "Yes, two large picnic basket" I answered with a smile. "Let's wear the same color of shirt. Do you agree guys?" Miks asks all of us. She asks all of us and we agree because we imagine that it's cute if all of wear the same color of shirt.
"What do you think is the best suitable color of the shirt will match for all of us?" Jenny asks with a smile. "Blue" Arch said with a smile. "Black" Kris said coldly. "White" Gav and Gio said in unison with full of energy and we just chuckle at their energy. "Violet" Kev said with a smile. "Sky Blue" the three of us said in unison that's why we look at each other surprise then we giggle.
"So, it's settled now we, the ladies won we will be going to wear a sky blue shirt" Miks said with a grin. "It's okay for all of us as long as it is not pink" Gio said with a smile. We decided to wander around at the booths together as one of a good memory that we will share with each other. We also plan on what we will do for the Foundation Week because we look up earlier the different booths that the school will offer starting tomorrow. After that we went on the parking lot and we saw that tay is already waiting for me. I bid them goodbye so I can start to cook food early and for me, it's a great privilege to be part of the team who will cook food that we will sell on our booth.
One of my habit is cooking different dishes because I love eating foods. Besides, it will be difficult to learn cooking if you're not passionate and enjoying every process. The people are always surprise when they find out that I know how to cook because I grow up from the rich clan but for me it should be a required for the women to learn how to cook. Besides, there's a time that you will be alone on the house and it's not healthy if you always order on the restaurant or fast food chain. It's important that we eat healthy foods so we can avoid getting sick. I'm thankful that I grow this way because after graduation on college I want to have my own condo unit. I also want to experience living in a simple life in the province and I'm proud to those people who are striving so hard so they can live wealthier.
In the province where I can have my own hacienda and farms, breathing some fresh air and peaceful life. A life where the people 's source of income is farming and fishing so they can eat fresh foods. Far from the city and has a breath taking view of nature. Full of dreamers that striving the hardest so they can be successful someday. Funny isn't it? There are some elites people who wants to live a simpler life while the average families striving so hard to be on top. That's why when the times comes that I have my own money which is fruit of my hard work, I want to have a hacienda on my own in the province with my family.
