"Satisfied?" asked Janet with a bored expression.
Val just grunted and finally let go of me. She found a seat at a nearby table and sat down with a face that said that she still couldn't believe it.
"Don't mind Val, she is simple minded but stubborn. She will come around."
"Its Ok. The thing is she paid for my registration just now but I don't have any money to pay her back right now… I will…"
"Don't worry about the money. She dragged you there and forced you to register of her own whims so you don't have to pay her back."
It hit me then that Val is just a really good person and she used the pretext of not believing my age to have me registered. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed since no one had ever done anything for me before. I choked up as I looked up at Janet and didn't know what to say.
"Uh.. I don't know what to say…. "
"Don't worry about it. It's the least she should have done after bullying you like that!"
Then she turned to look at Val and said "Come on, sit with us"
Janet then grabbed my hand pulled me to where Val was sitting and pulled a stool for me. This was a round table with three stools. The stools were surprisingly tall and not something I would be able to sit on without jumping. I was wondering how I am supposed to get up on it, when I felt someone picking me up by armpits and my feet left the ground. Next thing I know, I was being placed on the stool in front of Val. I around up to see Janet just effortlessly putting me down! It didn't look like she was straining under my weight at all! I thought Val was strong but it looked like even Janet was really strong.
Janet pulled another stool and sat down as if what she just did was of no importance. I just kept staring at her for a few seconds and finally she asked me, "What is it?"
I opened and closed my mouth several times not knowing what to say. Finally Janet couldn't wait any longer and said "The stool was pretty tall and it seemed like you didn't know how to get on it. So I helped. You are pretty light you know…"
I just buried my head in my arms on the table. She is the same age as me. How can she just pick me up like I am little kid and then say this on top! Today was a really bad day for my ego.
"Well of course he is light! Look how tiny he is!" said Val. It looks like she couldn't resist pointing out how tiny I am now that she had a perfect opportunity.
Janet sighed and asked me "So…. now that you are an adventurer, what do you plan to do next? Are you going to try and find the herb again?"
