Yet after standing for a few minutes together without exchanging a word, Aiden started to feel unnerved because of the unusual silence around him
That was why despite being an introvert in nature, Aiden decided to try and strike up a conversation with the other party, hoping to lessen the awkward silence.
The lady did not seem to be going anywhere far since she did not have any baggage with her.
She might be just going somewhere close, a nearby town perhaps.
"I am going outside the city for some urgent matter. How about you? Where are heading to?"
Aiden tried to inject as much enthusiasm as he could on his voice when he asked that, but on the contrary, it only made him sound more awkward and trying hard.
Good thing though that the lady was not a snob and the moment Aiden tried to talk to her, she immediately sat straight and straightened up her shoulders which were slumped a moment ago.
"I--I d-don't know..."
The lady replied while stuttering.
Most likely because she was caught off guard by Aiden's sudden question.
But her voice was undeniably full of sadness when she said.
It was so sad that even an apathetic person won't be able to help it and feel affected once they heard her.
So what more could be said to Aiden who was known to be a sympathetic and soft-hearted person???
Of course, he instantly felt her pain and felt sorry for her, despite not knowing her whole story yet.
"Ahmm.. miss, Did you run away from home???"
"I-- I don't remember... I really can't... I don't remember anything about me."
The other party shook her head in despondency as she replied to Aiden's follow up question.
"Err??? Did she have amnesia or something??? How could she not remember anything? Weird, indeed."
Aiden wondered to himself, but of course, he did not dare said that out aloud.
It was just all inside his head
"You can see me?"
"Errr.. yes? You were big enough to be seen if you are not aware."
Aiden tried to joke around but soon after he started to get scared stiff as a stone and goosebumps started to crawl on his skin.
Then for some unknown reason, the temperature around him also started to drop!
Things were getting worse now...
How could he be so dense as to not think it weird seeing another person waiting for a bus in the middle of the night???
It was not as if any other person, aside from him could have an urgent matter to attend that would force them to get outside and not wait for the regular bus trips to arrive.
Not all person was desperate enough to leave their houses in the middle of the night and wait at the bus stop in an ungodly hour, unless it was not a person, to begin with.
Aiden soon regretted his decision of talking to the other party when he finally thought about the possibility that he was actually seeing a ghost at that very moment.
It was already so rare for him to initiate a conversation with anyone and yet as if his luck could have never been any better, he actually tried to strike a conversation with a ghost!!!
"Oh, gosh, Lady Luck! Do we have a thing in the past that you were always against me?! Why are odds have never been in my favor, even just for once in my life?! The heck!"
Aiden cursed out loud inside his mind as he watched the other party slowly stood up from her seat.
"Can you help me????"
The lady asked again as she extended both of her arms towards Aiden's direction as if trying to sense where he was.
Just like what a blind person do whenever he or she lost their stick as their guide
"Woah? Can't she see me??? Is she blind???"
Aiden thought to himself as he tried to put a safe distance between him and the lady, so as to evade her reach.
In any case, there was no way he would allow the other party to touch him.
Especially not now that he could no longer ascertain whether he was dealing with someone who was dead or alive.
