Chapter 2 - Where it all begins

The sun rises in the east awaking Geoffrey through the window as he has come to expect each morning. Geoffrey still remembers vividly the experiences of the past week, being chased out of the house he was born and raised in, all of the things he was used to coming to a sudden halt. Being lax and doing whatever he wanted along with his childhood friend Alice. He remembered seeing the evil smirks on his relatives as they seized all of his possessions and his own home. The only thing that he kept was the small medallion he got from his parents on his 8th birthday as they told him it was very special and to keep it safe. He has kept it hidden ever since on the inside of his shirt so his relatives wouldn't get it. Although it was only a small piece of brass and didn't have much monetary value. And to think that his parents died like that in the blink of an eye. none of it made sense as he tried to piece it all together. He constantly thought about it, his cousins coming over and telling him about his parents and immediately seizing all of his material possessions. He obviously fought over it, but being only 13 he had little to no control over what happened with his possessions in the minds of these corrupt It didn't make any sense. He vowed to get revenge on them someday for taking all of his things and even smirked at him on the way out.

After that, Geoffrey found a small cottage abandoned in the outer part of the city somewhat close to destitute area in which the beggars stay. Somehow no one lived there and he was able to climb in through a broken window in the back. Although it wasn't the best life to live, especially in comparison to his posh lifestyle of the past but it was home for now. Although Geoffrey wasn't extremely picky over the way he lived, the change in lifestyle was very hard for him. He constantly misses Alice and his lack of responsibilities.

And so our story begins...

Geoffrey wakes up to see the sunlight shining in through the window. Tear marks stained both sides of his face from the night prior. There was a stench of mold spreading throughout the room and it definitely wasn't good for his long term health. Geoffrey was able to sleep through the night by sleeping under a dirty rug covering his mouth and nose with his dirty shirt. Although under normal circumstances there was no way he could fall asleep like that, but being as exhausted from the circumstances he was able to sleep through the night. Bangs come from the front door and that's the queue to leave, Geoffrey swiftly jumps out the back window as the front door bashes in with a familiar face leading the charge.

Geoffrey recognizes it to be one of his family members who assumed all of his property the previous night, not wanting to get tangled into another of his schemes Geoffrey hides behind the behind in the backyard and holds his breath

"He must have left already, he couldn't have gotten far let's go" the large man says to his posse as he enters the room and determines that no one is there. "Why are we even following him? didn't we already get everything from him? so what if he has a little medallion, it's probably not worth anything anyway." one of the smaller guys in the back complains as he didn't want to come out here in the first place and didn't know what the big deal of letting him go would be. "Yeah the medallion itself isn't worth anything, it's about what is inside of it. Inside of that medallion holds the methods of his family to cultivate magic. His father was the best magic caster on the continent and his mother excelled in healing magic. If we can find that medallion we will be able to be rich!" the large man retorted. The people seemed a lot more willing to look after that, it's basically a guarantee for wealth at that point if they can find it.

Geoffrey who was listening to their conversation didn't believe it, he has had the medallion for years already and has already looked over it so many times. He didn't believe that such a thing existed within the medallion like they are claiming. Regardless of his disbelief he was inspired to try and find out if what they said was true or not. If it was true, he could meet up with his childhood friend Alice! He wanted to do whatever he could to succeed and meet up with her again. As a kid Geoffrey was infatuated with Alice, she was the king's daughter but his parents were the best spell caster and healer on the continent so they were able to get close. Unfortunately, after the accident with his parents he went to her house and asked to stay. Upon hearing of the accident, the king immediately shunned him away and told him never to come back. The king reveals that the only reason he let Geoffrey get close to Alice was so that his parents could form a closer bond with the kingdom and protect it when the time comes. Now that his parents have died there was no further point in caring for him. He hated the king, but he still liked Alice and would do whatever he could to be reacquainted with her.

Geoffrey saw the group leave from the front of the house and quietly sneaked away from the house to hide in the woods for the time being. Geoffrey took the time to thoroughly investigate if what they were saying was true, and if it was it could change his destiny.

Geoffrey looked at his small medallion composed of what looked like old copper or bronze. It definitely did not look special at a first glance, he looked it over a couple more times but couldn't figure it out. Geoffrey had a somewhat lazy nature due to his posh lifestyle of the past and didn't really care much for power and position. He wasn't sure if they were involved with the downfall of his parents or not but either way, when his house and possessions were taken away from him something shifted in his mind. Whether that was good or bad he didn't know but he was very driven to get revenge on those who wronged him. He was hellbent on making sure they suffer for what they did to him. When he thought of that the medallion shifted and opened slightly, he heard a voice.

"haha, so young yet so desperate for revenge. My name is Cratus, the god of strength and power. I am not much for fighting but I do enjoy self improvement more than anything else. If you are willing to go through hell, I can give you power." Cratus smirked evilly from the inside of the medallion as it split in the middle and showed the face of a red entity smiling directly at Geoffrey. Geoffrey felt a cold shiver run down his spine, but right now he had nothing, he was willing to do whatever it took to get revenge on his relatives.

"I am willing to do whatever it takes" Geoffrey said without a hint of hesitation.
