Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: Arriving at The Sun Pyramid.

We arrived at the Sun Pyramid a few hours later, just before the sunset. It was an incredibly beautiful sight, as this ancient pyramid, which was one the largest artefacts ever built in Mesoamerica, was erected in astrophysical alignments of the sunrise and the sunset in the Teotihuacan region. As we arrived at the gate, the guards approached us.

"Está cerrado. Vuelve mañana" the guard said in Spanish, indicating that the pyramid was closed.

"Traje dinero, I'll pay you" I replied and took out a hefty sum of cash, trying to give him a bribe.

"Oh Gringos," the attendant replied happily and continued speaking. "For that amount, we will give you a private tour."

"Excellent, bring us to the Royal Tomb," I said confidently.

"Señora, the Royal Tomb is sealed off for visitors," the attendant remarked in bad English.

"Please, it is very important", Alex pleaded and brought forth another wad of Mexican pesos. All the guards stared at the money in excitement and nodded eagerly.

"This money very good. I am Javier, and I can be your guide. Follow me, Señor and Señora.", Javier urged us.

I smiled in relief. I had thought of using my psionic powers to convince the guards to let us through, but then I realised that bribes were a much better way. My Zeto Crystal was losing its energy, but my bank account wasn't, so it was better to let the guards share some money, instead of using my empath powers to alter their minds.

I studied the Pyramid and the rest of the Teotihuacan complex. It was a beautiful place, and I could have found solace and meditative inner peace here, under other circumstances. But there was no time to waste. Pierre Beaumont was on his way here, and he would definitely not come on his own. I needed to get to the Royal Tomb, unleash the power of my Zeto crystal, and open the portal to the Divine Dimension before he reached me.

But what would happen after that? Would we ever get back to Sydney again, or would we be stuck inside the Sun pyramid, unable to go back? I had always envisioned myself to enter the portal on my own, but now that Alex was by my side, I could not leave him behind in this important quest of saving the future of humankind. If I did, Pierre Beaumont and the other conspirators would come after him to find me.

As we traversed and zig-zagged our way to the inner temple complex, heading towards the innermost part of the Sun Pyramid, Javier, the tour guide kept chattering about different objects and artefacts along the route. I lost my temper. "Just hurry up and take us to the Royal Tomb, we don't have time to lose!" I said loudly. Hearing this, Javier looked at me with scared puppy eyes and continued straight towards the Royal Tomb.

We entered the part of the hidden Tombs, and Javier pointed me to a dark tunnel with a 'STAFF ONLY' signboard. "It's very slippery and dangerous in the dark tunnel to the Royal Tomb, you'll see much better things up here, from the top of the hole." Javier urged, while showing us a giant viewing hole that led to underground tombs.

Alex tapped Javier on the shoulder and spoke: "Look. It's our anniversary, and my wife has this thing for Royal Tombs. Just lead us there, wait outside for a while, and it'll be worth your while."

Javier nodded, turned on a flashlight, and we squatted and crawled down the tunnels below, leading to the hidden tomb. After crawling in the dark and damp tunnels for 100 meters, Javier showed us the door to the Royal Tomb. "The Royal Tomb is inside, Señor and Señora. I'll wait here, don't take too long!" Javier said nervously.

"We'll take our time, but don't worry, we'll make it worth your Pesos," Alex responded, and we entered the dark chamber, closing the door behind us.
