A few months later, my mission to improve the world was up and running. To make everything look legit, I set up a charity in the Central Business District of Sydney and called it 'Building a Better World Pty Ltd'. As a non-profit organisation, and a privately funded charity, it could receive donations, from my anonymous trading activities. While nothing was 100 per cent foolproof, it was a lot better than donating millions to projects under my own name.
I employed Eric, Alexander, and Eric's girlfriend Lindsey, to run the charity, and I tasked them with finding worthwhile projects all over the world. It was good to have an inner circle that I could trust and share ideas with, and I was confident that I could trust them.
My certainty was because I used my empath powers to read their minds, to know what they were thinking and influence them covertly. While it wasn't morally right to spy on my friends and my boyfriend, it was a temptation that was too hard to resist. Everyone has doubts about people around them, and if you can use your powers to calm your doubts, and to get people to do things your way, it is hard to not use those powers.
I decided to make Alex the CEO, and the face of the charity. He was the best-looking in the group, and the one with the most natural charisma and leadership. While my empath powers made better at influencing people in actual meetings, it didn't make me the better option for speaking in advertising videos and giving speeches at large conferences.
Due to the almost unlimited advertising budget and Alexander's natural charisma, Building a Better World Pty Ltd soon became the largest charity in the world. Money started to stream in from other sources, although my anonymous contributions were the largest source of income for the charity.
