Gabriella's voice softened with sympathy. "I'm sorry this has to happen, Evangelina. It's such a difficult situation for all of you. I wish I could have just skipped the wedding and nothing like this should have happened"

"It is," Evangelina agreed. "But Father is determined. He believes that staying would only further entangle us in the Monteria mess, and he's already had enough. He's done with everything—with the Monteria ways and their hypocrisy. He is desperate to leave it all behind,"
