Chereads / Scarlet's Awakening / Chapter 5 - Episode 5

Chapter 5 - Episode 5

Sheila has no memories of her own to rely on, and so she is entirely dependent on Scarlet's memories. Therefore, she must be cautious about everything she does and says, as one wrong move could reveal her true identity and cost her her life.

Meanwhile, Eigeel watched his master closely, studying her every move. He could see a range of emotions flitting across her childlike yet beautiful face as she retreated into her own thoughts. Sheila appeared oblivious to his presence, lost in her own world.

Suddenly, as if snapping out of a trance, Sheila remembered something and jumped off the altar. Her tiny body wobbled as she landed on the ground, clearly still adjusting to her new form.

Eigeel wondered where she was going, but Sheila saw him following her and put up her hand to stop him.

"I'm not going far, so you don't have to follow me," she said.

Eigeel bowed his head in submission. "As you wish."

Sheila gave him a nod of thanks before continuing on her way. She didn't like being followed, especially by servants who trailed behind her like puppies. Puppies were cute, but Sheila felt uneasy being watched all the time, given her background. As someone who was not used to having servants, it was difficult for her to accept being escorted everywhere as normal.

While the former Scarlet Rose was accustomed to being followed around 24/7, it was different for Sheila. She was gradually accepting her fate as the new Scarlet Rose, the beloved Queen of Gehenna, but she still had to learn how to act like royalty first.

However, that could wait for another day. Today, Sheila had other things on her mind.

Sheila was quite intrigued about what Scarlet looked like in person. She saw the former Scarlet's appearance in her memories, and she was a woman of rare beauty that could lead emperors and kings to their knees, and maybe even fight over her.

When Sheila climbed off the altar a while ago, she noticed that a portion of her height was missing. In her past life, she was 5'4 tall, now, it's like she's back to being a little midget.

Could it be that Scarlet's height receded when she almost lost all her powers in the war? Sheila thought.

But these are just her wild guesses.

Good thing she saw a full-length mirror at the corner of the room. It's best to see for herself, what she looks like.

Sheila approached the mirror and stared at her reflection.

Oh my...

There was one word that can describe her image.

She was beautiful. So beautiful, Sheila couldn't believe such a child with looks like this actually exists!

Sheila pinched herself, hard, and cried out. "Ouch!"

The stinging pain on her cheeks was proof. She was definitely not dreaming. The pain gave her the answer.

She looked at her reflection again, tilted her head to the left, and the reflection copied her movements.

She tilted her head to the right and the reflection did the same thing without hesitation.

Suddenly, a ridiculous idea came over her head and she opened her mouth and whispered, "Crab nuggets..."

To her excitement, the reflection moved her pretty little mouth, and uttered the same words at the same time she said those words.

"Incredible..." She laughed, doing small dances in front of the mirror because she was having fun. This is the first time she ever felt this much excitement in her life.

Meanwhile, Eigeel watched his queen and master with a strange expression. He didn't hear her saying Crab Nuggets, but he saw her weird behaviour in front of the mirror.

The way she looked at herself; it was like she was new to her body.

She acted shock, as well, for some unfathomable reason, that he couldn't guess what it was.

He also thought that the queen's questions were strange. She asked him who he was, and then she started to have headaches after that.

She's also been staring into space more often, thinking deeply with a serious expression on her face.

Eigeel continued to silently contemplate while Sheila was freaking out inside her head. She was still gushing about the fact that Scarlet was such a beautiful child. A beautiful- 13 year old- looking child.

She stared at herself in admiration once again, touching her delicate cheeks, which was now red from the pinch she did awhile ago.

Wow. Her skin was clear and translucent as a porcelain doll. The purity of her skin contrasted with the blackness of her dress.

She was just too cute, too beautiful to look at.

Sheila sighed as she measured her current height. Hmmm. 59 or 60 inches.

Even with the stature of a 13-year-old girl, Scarlet's beauty can be noticed even in her child like body.

Her black hair was as dark as the feathers of a raven, and her dark eyes were as deep and stormy as the waters of an ocean.

Her lips are naturally red like her last name, rose. And her delicate eyebrows looked like they've been modeled after a crescent moon.

Her nose was high but adorably cute, and it goes well with the alluring shape of her eyes.

Her body radiated the grace of the queen and the glory of the goddess, and indeed she was. The very epitome of it.

"Is there something wrong, my queen?"

Sheila turned towards Eigeel, taken aback by his sudden query. He was now standing behind her, hands clasped behind his back.

Shaking her head, she replied. "No, there's nothing wrong. I was just..." She swallowed nervously under his gaze, "... shocked that I've shrunk. Now, I have the appearance of a child."

Eigeel regretfully bowed his head. "My apologies for not being able to explain your predicament, your majesty."

Sheila waved her hand dismissively. "Don't stress yourself about it."

Stress? Eigeel didn't reply to that. The word "stress" itself, is nothing he's ever heard of.

Sheila cringed, detecting her error in using unknown words. She needs to change the topic, or else she will be forced to explain herself.

"By the way, I have a question for you, Eigeel." Sheila hesitated for a while, squirming a bit because of the topic she was going to ask. "My question is not that complicated actually, it's just about the Scarlet Order."

"Then I will gladly answer your questions, my queen." He said, bowing his head respectfully. "Whatever they may be."

"Well..." Sheila cleared her throat. "I was just wondering... if I suddenly decide to meet with the scarlet order, like right now. Do you think they'll be thrilled to see me?" She asked.

Eigeel's body straightened up in an instant at her question and a light smile appeared on his handsome face.

"The Scarlet Order will be thrilled to see you, my queen. We've been waiting for you to wake up for almost 500 years, and seeing that you're in good health, I personally think the Scarlet Order will be more than happy to see you."

"Are you sure?" Sheila asked, still not completely convinced. "I'm actually not quite myself right now and I'm afraid that I might make a mistake."

Eigeel shook his head. "No, your majesty. I assure you, you won't make a mistake. No one would dare think about you that way."

Well, that's a relief.

"I see..."

Eigeel smiled. "Nothing gives us more joy than serving you with our whole being, my queen. And in our eyes, everything you do is right."
