Zombies, ghouls, mutated beasts. Everything you'd find in myths and other science fiction has now been haunting humans. People in the streets are rummaging through trash bins just to find scraps of food to eat. The more fortunate ones get to eat the food that they stored in their houses but eventually had to leave their houses as they lack the resources to sustain themselves and their families.

Day 25 of the apocalypse and almost half of the population has already been wiped out. We call the first day of the apocalypse as the 'Intermission' as people began to suspect that this was only the beginning. 

That eventful day all started when an unknown substance, which looked like liquid that constantly switches from its normal state to an undetectable gas that has spread throughout the world, has surfaced from the bottom of the Earth. Animals began to mutate, and the dead were coming back to life. It's as if those who were at the bottom of the food chain were suddenly given the chance to rise. As this substance reached the surface, rifts started to open from all parts of the world. Scientists are left speechless as they try to find the origin of both the rifts and the liquid that looked like it came from the Earth's core.

Wealthy businessmen and other elites have now hidden in bunkers and the other humans are left to fend for themselves. The government has issued that nuclear weapons would only trigger the unknown substance in their bodies and mutation will occur to the creatures again making them stronger, more equipped to kill than before.

Now, humans are left to fend for themselves with any weapons they can find. Humanity's progress regressed back to the stone age.

Somewhere in the New York, USA, a girl named Teal Carey, along with her mother, Grace Jones, and younger brother, 10-year-old James Carey has escaped their city to flee to a quiet rural area. Their dad was unable to make it from his trip to the grocery store as he tried to secure food for his family. Grace, being the only capable parent, made the decision to move counties and eventually settle in a quiet area with a right amount of population to avoid fights over resources such as food. 

The trip, however, was full of danger and their SUV was overtaken by 2 huge, mutated bats that looked like a mix of a greyhound with wingspans of 8 meters. Bats in this era carry with them multitudes of mutated diseases as per their original forms so people tend to avoid them and hide when they see such creatures.

As the car was unable to move due to it being upside down. Her mom made a reckless decision and leaped out of the car to drive those bats away from her children. A battle ensued as Grace put them down using her gun that she got in her glove compartment all the while being scratched, but it attracted the attention of a creature similar to a huge Komodo dragon with dripping saliva that melts the ground that it touched.

Grace unwilling to let her children die with her, led the creature to the deeper parts of the forest hoping that they survive, tears flowing down her eyes. Teal, now left alone with her younger brother, was still trying to process everything that has happened. In her mind, she thought of her brother's well-being so they ran as fast as they could to the nearest town.

She had no time to cry about her mother. She had to be strong that's what her mother always said to her.

Running, running, they kept running until they finally saw a town. Shady Oaks was its name. Her legs numb from running was slowly entering the town.
