As the Lord had grown tired, he chose to retire shortly after returning to the Study with Tonic.
On the other hand, Tonic himself also chose to retire after a slight complaint from Jack about being tired and wanting to take to bed. The Lord and the Priest both left Cassandra alone with Jack without much care so it seemed.
Jack stood there by the door of the room, leaning against the frame, his eyes resting on the girl seated in her father's chair. His gaze remained on her, but he wasn't tracing over her petite physique.
"You going to show me to my room?" He'd gesture with one hand towards the open door.
Cassandra who was relaxing, glanced up towards him before pushing herself out of the chair. Yawning, "Oh yeah… Might as well," she folded her hands behind her back, as she strode across the room on the tips of her toes.
It kind of reminded him of an animation he had once seen of a female form skipping across the a body of water, leaving only ripples behind.
It seemed she knew how to dance. A small smile formed over his lips, rather curious of what kind of skills she had other than magic. Perhaps she had more than she thought.
Jack made his way after her, into the hall and down the various corridors. His eyes were on her feet, watching how she moved, how in sync each step was with the rest of her bodily motions.
That's when she chose to look over her shoulder at him, his smile vanishing mere seconds before she could see it. She raised a brow watching his eyes, as they moved with her feet. She turned to face him as she would walk backwards. "Why are you watching my feet?"
"When you made your way out of the room, it reminded me of a dancer… Do you dance?"
Cassandra turned her head to the side, looking at the man from the corner of her eye. "Yes?"
He nodded slightly as he acknowledged the questionable answer as the truth and nothing more or less. He'd fold his own hands behind his back and walk up beside her, having her turn forward as she looked up at him as they walked together.
"Do you dance?" Cassandra kept at least a six inches between them, her eyes not leaving the side of his face as he was now looking forward.
"Depends, who wants to know?"
Cassandra's eyelids relaxed slightly as she just gave him this strange tiresome smile. "I'm going to throw you off a balcony, after breaking one of your wings."
"I mean, I have six of them," Jack retorted with a laugh as his wings were hidden within his back, not being shared out in the open with those watching them.
"Perhaps I'll break half of them, and see if you can still fly?"
"I'll just use magic to fly," his gaze seemed rather playful despite there being no visual emotion on his face other than in those eyes of his. He was in the mood to tease it seemed.
Clucking her tongue against the back of her teeth, "I can't win."
"No you can't," Jack assured her as he watched her from the corner of his eye, not bothering to keep his head turned in her general direction.
"Mind sleeping in my room tonight?" Cassandra asked as she stared at him, her question initially being met with extreme silence. They just kept walking straight, whether or not it was the right way to the bedroom he intended to use.
"Depends," Jack said after a long silence, finally turning his head to look at her, "Why?"
"I never just slept with anyone before, I'm curious of what it feels like." She did seem to actually have some innocence, at least from what he could see and hear from her. It appeared that she just wanted to cuddle for the time being.
"It's different depending on the company you keep," Jack commented as he turned his head forward once more, "So I'm going to assume you never cuddled either."
"Cuddled?" Her eyes gazed up at him curiously.
Jack was aware somewhat of the origins of most words he used with others. Cuddling for one originated in the sixteenth century, but was rarely used before the eighteenth. Since this seemed to be a medieval era, it was likely the word hasn't been necessarily used.
"Hm..." Jack stared forward for a moment before shrugging, "People have actually made money off of doing it professionally."
Cassandra hummed, the sound resonating in her mouth as she kept her lips sealed until the next she spoke, "That doesn't tell me what cuddling is. It's starting to sound like prostitution."
"Now that's a really old profession," Jack brushed his nose with his finger as he heard her say this. To tell the truth, the only difference was, there was no sex really involved.
"Can't you just zap the knowledge into my mind?"
"Now what fun would that be?" Jack mischievously replied as she frowned at this. So far he had been more expressive compare to before he arrived. Though it was mainly because he was having fun, no one else was watching.
Kokei seemed to have stopped using divination a while ago, probably around the time the Lord returned to the study. Perhaps he actually tried to sleep? Or was meditating, if they couldn't.
The teen just glared up at him as he seemed so satisfied with himself now that he had caught her curiosity and wasn't even bothering to sate it. "You're not going to tell me are you...?"
"I could always change my mind about sleeping in your room," Jack candidly delivered his threat.
"Mmmm..." Groaning at this, she snapped her head forward, causing her hair to flip to the side from the momentum.
Within the next few minutes they were on the other side of the castle, and two stories higher. The girl lead him to a large door and opened it, revealing a roofed bridge-like construct leading to a spire not too far away.
"Your room is in a tower…?" Jack pursed his lips staring across the bridge towards the room, before looking down towards her with a brow raised.
"What? Something wrong with that?"
"No, just half the time a Princess is imprisoned in a tower and a Knight is forced to come save them from a Dragon." Jack shrugged as he began walking across the bridge, taking parts of his armor off bit by bit into his inventory.
"Dragon?" That one word was what grabbed a smile on Cassandra's face as she rushed after him as he had taken the lead. "Are the dragons epic? I've never seen one before!"
Jack glanced over at her as if she were some child asking about a fairy tale, "Um… Yes?" He flexed his eyelids, before looking out amongst the lights and walls of the city.
"Are they as powerful as the Sorceress Supreme!?"
"The who?" Jack stopped and looked over at Cassandra with a brow cocked once more.
"Sorceress Supreme, the Arch Magus, the Great Mage of the South? The King's Court Counsel?"
Jack was almost lost until she said that last part, so there was a female sorcerer at the side of the King? Perhaps he could get some information should he go to the Royal Capital… His eyes glanced back towards the door that they had left open.
"Not sure, I've only rescued one princess, and there weren't any dragons."
With a subtle gesture of his hand, the door would slam and latch shut.
Cassandra jumped and turned around to see the door shut, and locked. "How are we supposed to get back inside now?"
"I can lock doors with magic… I can also unlock them just as easily," letting out a light sigh he would place a hand on her head. "To your room?" He gestured towards the door of what he could only assume was her bedroom in the tower.
Nodding to him, she lunged across the narrow bridge and over to the door, in which he casually followed after her inside.
Once they were through the door, they went up a stone spiral staircase, until they met another door. The bedroom was large and circular in size. A bear pelt rug at the entrance, and an already lit fireplace at one end of the room, with two arm chairs and a foot stool.
Along most of the walls were more and more bookshelves, and from what he could see on the spines of each book, they were based on magical studies. From the looks of it, she had hardly even touched the central collection.
Her large kingsized bed was surrounded by books and notes, quill pens and loose papers. There were even some elemental stones in her bed, and a jar which had a several precious gems in it.
This place looked like a very disorganized lair of a heteromorphic mage.
"Homey," Jack uttered before looking over at her, raising a brow. "You didn't bring me here to clean up your room, did you?"
Cassandra shrugged up at him as she walked over to the bed and started shoving her things off of it, carelessly. The only things she handled with care seemed to be the actual magical items that held true worth compared to books that could be mended, copied or replaced.
She placed the gems on a pile of books, and the elemental stones on the nightstand beside her bed.
In a matter of moments, the bed was clear and the girl was climbing on up onto the bed. Her gown clinging to and ridding up the back of her thighs, almost exposing the fluffy and short white bloomers she was wearing beneath the gown which are just now becoming visible.
"Huh..." Watching as her shoulders moved, and her knees slid along the quilted comforter, he witnessed her fall onto her side with her hands held close to her collar.
"W-w-well?" Cassandra's two toned eyes were staring through him as she tore at the inside corner of her mouth with her two front teeth. Tasting a hint of iron before sucking softly on her cheek.
Jack could see she was nervous, so he just shrugged as he removed his jacket, revealing what the women had seen once before. A handsome and attractive set of ideally toned muscles. As he approached the side of the bed, he'd kick off is boots.
With her back to him, scaled the side of the bed and he walked on his knees until he was right behind her. Slowly, with one arm on the surface, he lowered himself down behind her and draped an arm around her waist.
She pitched her head down slightly as she watched his hand as it just lay there limply, only to feel the fingers of his other hand comb through her hair. It wasn't like the time he had touched her head before.
This time it felt as if she was being comforted, the touch was tender, only slightly sensual. He massaged her scalp, tickled her neck with his finger tips, teased her ear with the back of his hand.
Truth be told this was the most comfortable she had ever felt in such a short period of time. She almost seemed to purr and lean into his hand.
"Does anyone come in to check on you in the morning?"
"My father usually does..." Cassandra was busy enjoying the touching, as his hands were soft, despite the fact that he was a warrior and a mage.
It was likely because it was a game avatar.
"Take off your gown," closing one eye he watched as her hands started to travel down the front of her night dress only to pause.
"Wait, what?" She stared at her hands in disbelief in what she was about to have done. She turned her head and looked up at him, "I thought we were just cuddling!"
"He doesn't need to know that," Jack sarcastically laughed inwardly, pulling her back against his torso. "We'll just hide your covered bits with the quilt."
The teen sucked on her upper lip slightly hearing the proposal, it sounded like a fun prank, one which worked in her favor and likely his.
Her face was filled with the hue of red though, as she turned her head to look at his chest. Her fingers lightly curled around the trim of the nightgown before pulling it up over her head, briefly hugging it to her chest until she shifted to face him, tossing it over him and onto the floor at the path to the door.
