Chapter 2 - No Longer Familiar

Yu Man Tian swung the door open, almost knocking those pushing the door on the ground. Just with a quick glance, she could tell the bridesmaids, groomsmen, her ex-fiance, parents, ex-bestfriend and sister were all there.

She couldn't help but laugh in her heart. These faces weren't so familiar anymore.

With no explanation or greeting, she proceeded to walk when her ex-fiance Zhang Yuan Yi grabbed her arm. His grip was tight and she had to clench her jaw to stop from making a sound. She stared into his eyes. He was still as handsome as she remembered with his deep brown eyes and sharp nose. Today he looked even more handsome than she remembered. Maybe it was the way he slicked his hair to one side.

"If anything happens to Han Sui Er, I won't forgive you."

She snapped back to reality.

She watched as he rushed over to his fiancé. And she couldn't help but laugh in her heart once more. 5 years spent together meant nothing compared to Han Sui Er.

*Slap*

Man Tian felt herself stumble a step or two back from the blow. Her left cheek was burning but she dared not to show any signs of weakness. That slap was delivered from her father. To call him a father was not quite right. He was not qualified to be called her father.

From behind, Yu Man Tian could see the satisfaction showing on her stepmother and step sister Yu Man Fei's eyes.

"You ungrateful bastard! Go back in there and apologize right now." He said when he saw the pitiful sight of Han Sui Er inside. He continued to yell some other harsh words but Man Tian wasn't listening.

And when she did finally recollect her mind, her father was still spewing nasty words.

With no expression on her face, she immediately cut him off. "And what if I don't apologize?" She bravely fought against him.

"You…" He pointed at her. "Good, good!" He pointed at her again. "To bite the hand that feeds you, you sure are something else. Just watch me leave you to starve on the streets."

"I should thank you in advance. Take me off the family registry."

And just like that, she turned her back on all of them and left.

Man Tian only caught her breath when she finally got to the hotel garage. She leaned on the cold cement wall and closed her eyes. Her heart was so heavy she thought she would die.

Before she could even take everything in, her wrist was forcefully grabbed and her body dragged. She looked at the man's back and knew exactly who this man was.

Han Shao Meng.

Han Sui Er's older brother, heir to the Han Empire. Known for his striking features and coldness. But she had no time to be admire his dangerous looks. For she already knew she was on his bad list.

Nobody in the city dared to provoke this man but she knew she had just done that one thing everyone feared. She had been so fueled tonight she didn't realize he was here.

"Let go of me."

He acted as if he didn't hear her; continuing to drag her back into the hotel.

"Han Shao Meng you bastard, let me go!"

He stopped.

This sudden stop made her even more afraid.

He turned towards her with those cold eyes. "I don't care what history you and my sister have but you must apologize. How can you go around ruining someone's wedding like this. What you did was uncalled for. Aren't you a bit ashamed?" He bluntly told her. Every single word he spoke was as if telling her she was wrong.

But what about her, who was here to defend her...

Yu Man Tian had been trying hard to escape his grip but the moment he spoke those words, she stopped. All the bitterness and unfairness she felt once again seeped into her heart. When she found out about Yuan Yi and Sui Er, her best friend helping them get together and her family telling her to give him up, she spent weeks burying her hurt. She thought she had gotten a hold of herself but when he spoke those words, the pain and anger came back. Angry enough to almost burst in tears.

"Uncalled for? Has anyone cared about my feelings?" She asked him with everything she had, trying her best not to choke up in tears.

Shao Meng didn't say a word.

Man Tian suddenly laughed out loud like a madwoman. Who was she to him? Why did she expect him to understand her even a little bit. "I pour wine on her and everyone is ready to kill me. But what about me? She stole my fiancé and yet I can't even take my anger out one bit?"

Shao Meng let go of her hand and reached into his pocket to pull something out.

A check book.

She watched as he wrote something. The next thing he did made her even angrier. He ripped a check from his book and put it in front of her. "Here's a blank check, write whatever amount you want on it and take it as me repaying you for what my sister did. Will that be enough for you to leave her alone?" Again, he spoke as if she was nothing more than a beggar conning him.

Man Tian looked at the check and she slowly grabbed it. The look he gave her was just as she expected. He was looking down on her. And she was right, in his mind he thought she was nothing more than a gold digger. He had seen so many women like her.

But he was wrong. Right in front of his eyes, she slowly ripped the check in half, her eyes still looking straight into his. A few more rips and finally tossed at his face. "Bastard." She grit her teeth.

He was now the one left speechless staring at the fallen shreds on the ground.

"I guess Han Sui Er isn't the only crazy in the family. Go to hell." And she walked away.

Shao Meng still stood there stunned. When he finally snapped back, she was already in her car driving off.
