Dreading that I might get punished, I slowly walked away from him. I don't think I'm strong enough to fight him so the best solution for me is to run away for the meantime. I don't want to get punished because of those bitches!
"You're able to fight off that servant. You're quite strong! First, you're fast enough to get past me to escape and now you can throw that maid as if she was made out of paper." He walked closer to me while he was asking me questions.
"Wha- what are you talking about, Master? I never did such a thing!" I don't remember getting in a fight with him for me to escape for my dear life only that bitch… Wait... Don't tell me?!
"Don't remember? It was just a month ago that you tried to escape from us while we were in the human world. I was able to hit you even if you were escaping at a fast speed, good thing I was quick enough to counter you since I saw you were about to do something. But the funny thing is you survive my attack. Can you tell me why?" He asked me all these questions and I'm confused as well!
"I… I don't know! I'm innocent! Please don't punish me! I didn't mean to hurt those bitc- Ahem, I mean those ladies! Please let me off this one time!" I can't escape for now and I haven't figure out my abilities yet, so I did what I'm good at…. And that is to grovel at his feet!
"Stand up and I won't do anything to you. I should thank you instead, for helping me get rid of them." He said. His way of speaking is somewhat different? I don't know to be exact, but I think the way he talks is somewhat friendlier? Or am I just delusional?
"Yes, Master! Thank you for your mercy and benevolence!" I flattered him to the moon and back!
"You don't need to thank me! And you can call me by my name, it's Gushiken Gou. You're not officially my servant so you can just call me by my name." He said nonchalantly.
O.M.G! Am I hearing things!? He wants me to call him by his name! Is our relationship going to the next level?! I can't believe that he's being friendly with me!! Wait! Does this mean that he likes me?... Pffft! Yeah, right! How can that be? I mean look at him! He has godly looks! I know some says I look cute at times since I have high cheekbones and that when I smile it's like my eyes disappear since I have almond eyes and a monolid, but I think his standards won't be below with his so I can just be like a fangirl admiring him from afar and cheer him on!
With that in mind, I calmed my super imaginative brain and remembering the animes that I watched, I will start calling him Gushiken sama from now on since it's standard etiquette for them to be respectful to someone of high status even if they are not officially their servant. I may not know his actual rank amongst the shinigami or if he is like a noble or such but to keep my lowly life safe I will just follow what I know from watching them.
"I thank you again, Gushiken sama! If you'll excuse me I will go back to cleaning the garden." I bowed at him and waited for him to leave. Once he leaves I will continue harnessing the spiritual essence from the sun. I can feel that in a few weeks I might have enough energy to find out my ability.
I've been bowing for almost a minute now and he still didn't move. I've waited patiently for him to leave and to not get bored bowing, I let my brain visualize what I will do later and imagine what my powers could be.
"Ehem, you can go back doing your chores." He said and he moved.
I sighed at what he said and I stood up straight, looking at him walking towards the stool placed under the peach trees made me gape at him. Why isn't he leaving?! How can I do my thing when he's here watching me like a hawk?! Does he now that I'm harnessing spiritual essence? Is he suspecting that I might harm people once I get to know my powers?
With my mind in turmoil, I wasn't able to move from my spot and he saw that I'm conflicted. He looked sternly at me. Uh oh! I mustn't let him suspect me or I might be put under surveillance and will lose my freedom! I need to act natural!
I walked up to him. "Gushiken sama, do you want me to get tea and some snacks for you while you enjoy the view?" I asked him. I need to stay calm, I shouldn't be fidgety or he might think that I'm up to something.
"Nah, you can go ahead and do that weird posing that you were doing earlier. What was that for anyway?" He asked.
"I… Wha..." I couldn't form a complete sentence nor can I come up with an excuse. Will I get executed if he finds out everything? Is this the end of the line for me?
He looked at me and has this complicated expression on his face. As if he was in a dilemma and don't know how to relay it to me. He even closed his eyes and heaved a deep sigh!
"You know what? I think you are a nice person but if you are doing something suspicious, I won't be able to protect you. Can't you trust me and tell me what you are doing getting in that pose?" He has this sad look on his face when he was asking me.
Well, I guess I can tell him that I was gathering spiritual essence? It's not like I'm the only one who gathers them. So I decided to tell him that since I don't think its a big deal anyway.
"Well, it was not like I was slacking off on my job, I was only doing it after I completed them! I was doing that yoga pose to gather spiritual essence on the rest of the day that I'm idle." I told him while I kept my head down not looking at him.
"And where are you getting the spiritual essence from?" He quietly asked.
"From the sun just like you guys." I simply said with a shrug of my shoulders.
"You got the spiritual essence from WHERE?!" He asked flabbergasted. I looked up and saw his eyes going wide.
"From the sun?" I answered with a doubtful look on my face. Is it not allowed to do it while I'm at work?
"How is that even possible she is just a lowly spirit and a weak one at that?!" He was mumbling. Well, that's rude! Even if he is the Master of this place he can't talk about me like that as if I'm not around!
"Hmph! What the big deal? I'm only doing it when I'm done with the chore and nothing much to do! Is it not allowed to do it while I'm still on the clock? Do I have to just do it with only the moon from now on?" I couldn't help but mumble angrily.
"What?! The MOON as well?!" He is shouting now. What?! I can't do it with the moon as well?! Then do I need to ask permission first and ask for the schedule on when it's my turn to gather energy now that I'm working here?! Ugh! That is so tedious!
