So here I am sitting in a tree. I've been here for five days watching a small village. Why you may ask? Well it's the first village I've found in five years. It's also the first village I've found sense I woke up or whatever here. I sit back against the trunk of the tree. The bark is smooth like steel it even has a silver shine to it. I call it an iron tree because it's so ridiculously strong. The leaves are round and have a deep red color.
I close my eyes and think back to over five years ago. I had been in my kitchen in Maine, the good old USA. yaaa right. My dream had been to own a farm so I never had to work for another person again, and live off the land. I went crazy looking at gardening techniques, collecting books and looking up how to raise chickens and bees. How to harvest wild plants and live off grid. Not like that helps me now.
My dream had been closer at hand then ever before. I had a job that paid well, and a really cheap place to live. I was paying off my student loans. Now that was a bust. I didn't even get the degree. I just wasn't cut out for school. Anyway I'd gone from over 20,000 in debt to almost 10,000 in two years. Once that was taken care of I'd be able to save up money and buy my land. Then boom one mistake and I was in a head on collation. It was my fault, stupid phone told me to turn. I wasn't sure if it was that turn or the next. I looked and the phone fell so I creeped forward. In that second I missed the one way sign. I was hit so hard by the on coming car that they were on the other side of the road, four lanes over and facing the same way I was.
They walked away with scratches I had five busted ribs, pelvic bone busted into 20 pieces, and spinal column lost a fin. Doctor put me together wrong and I ended up with five operations not one. It took 10 months to heal. Then it was time to find a job.
I shake my head and think about the day everything changed. It was kinda stupid one minute I was doing dishes and cleaning up after making some peppermint patties to try and sell. I blinked and when I opened my eyes I was here. Talk about lame. Where is the light or voice or whatever.
So then I was standing in a place that had trees in all directions, and what's worst the sky was purple. All I could think was, "What the hell." I know some about science and besides the sun rising and setting you don't get a purple sky. Also what could make the sky turn purple a chemical reaction? The tree trunks were mostly orange and the leaves were blue. I think way to much and know enough about science to get myself in trouble not out.
Well I started checking myself out. One I'm butt naked. Also two I had size E breasts normally and 280 pound muscle bound women. That was Lucky, cause I would have had a lot more issues with the car accident if I didn't have all those muscles. You could say my breast were almost gone. A good hand full at least but still from 6 handfuls to one. Thank you lord. Boy I'm such a perv, then again the whole world is.
I did have a nice stomach a few minutes ago I like food to much and suddenly I could see my feet. I had to laugh. Looking at my feet I saw claws. "Ok, now that's weird." I still stood up like a human. My hands had claws as well and I had some kind of lizard tail with spikes. Also bat like wings. I took a few steps and face planted. "Ok a tail makes the balance a little off" Claws don't help either, and I tripped over nothing before the tail.
Anyway I found out I moved fast and I hunted using my claws. I could eat food raw and enjoyed it more then I should. Also after eating the brain of a target I could take on the shape. Well kinda, almost like I changed beast women form and gained their strength. As long as I was in the shape like a rabbit I'd get Rabbit ears and tail. I'd also get the claws and feet. I could hear really well and move fast, turn corners like no bodies business. Oh and the wings would vanish. The issue is rabbits are scared, like all the time. So the longer I'm in the rabbit form the more chicken I get. The rabbits are not like what we usually see they have bluish/green fur. Tiny spikes go down their backs and they got short lizard like tails with the common poofball on the tip of the tail.
I sigh thinking back it took a good year to figure out how to fly straight. Sadly it didn't come with the wings. I also heal really fast if I'm in my normal form. If not for that I'd have been busted up three ways to Sunday by now. I can also partially transform.
The clothing issue was easy enough I started with furs from the animals I killed. I smoked the hides. I wasn't far from the ocean so I'd found a place I could block off from the ocean. The water evaporates and TaDaa salt. The water is green. My thought is Algae, but even the ocean is green, so the salt has a green tint. Whatever it don't matter.
So here I am waiting in this tree. What I need is a target. I lick my lips and run my tongue over my sharp teeth. Some fool who leaves the village so I can get the DNA. I don't want to cause trouble after all I want to interact. Creatures usually like those who look like themselves. Well it's not smart if I kill my target, after all I'm a stranger, if one goes missing, I'll probably be blamed. I could damage myself and go in crying about a monster that would explain the missing villager. I laugh to myself over that thought and think, "pathetic creatures."
I'll just get what I want and go to the next village. It's more fun that way. There has to be a road and I've waited long enough. Also I'm hungry. I look at the village and smile. Tonight in a few hours I'll have my fun. I'm lucky I was able to wait this long usually as soon as I see a life form I haven't tasted I loss control. I wonder why it's different this time? Probably cause I didn't get to close or I'm gaining some self control. I close my eyes and take a deep breath. I should have looked around more but I didn't want to get attention till I collected the DNA. "Wait just alittle longer," I say to myself. "Only crazy people talk to their selves or rich people. Wonder where all my money is?" I laugh at that thought.
Next time I open my eyes the purple sky is black. I stand up on the branch and yell. "Let the feast begin."
Side storys:
Basically small parts I'd made up for the mc but they didn't fit into the story well enough to add.
A Happy Accident: shortly after arrival five years ago
Tired and unhappy I lay on the side of a small hill on the ground. I look up through the trees at the purple sky. It's been one week sense I appeared in this world and I've yet to find a good home.
I made a shelter by tying branches with vines waist high into the trees then laid more branches across the frame tying them together. I took the pine tree like branches from the dark blue trees and weaved them in a canopy above my small shelter. Then covered the top with clay mixed with grass. It's waterproof but I'm not sure I trust it and it's warm now but what about the winter.
My stomach growls and I take an orange frog like creature out of my bag I made out of vines. It has white strips down its back and soft frog like skin with two sets of jumping legs one in the back and the second pair at the sides of the stomach. The three eyes surprised me the first time I saw the creature. It wasn't till I caught the creature that I realized the third eye was a fake. It even blinks like the real ones with eye lids.
Catching the frog was easy but once caught it releases a viscous chemical that is acidic in nature. The slime like liquid keeps pumping out till it's a good inch thick all around the frog. My hands were covered with the stuff and my hands started to sting. After a few minutes the stinging stopped so I figured it was a mild acid. Till I saw some fall on the grass and burn a good foot in all directions from where the drop fell. Thank god I have thick skin. Water appears to breakdown to chemical.
The third eye is some kind of black gland that is connected to two poison sacs. Once attacked the frog uses this to release a large amount of the chemical. I look up at it as I hold it above my head. I stick out my tongue in disgust as I lower it towards my mouth. It's inches from my mouth as I hear a noise above my head in the bushes.
I look up and see a small furry creature. I roll over onto my stomach the frog still in my hand to get a better look. The creature has orange fur with green strips down its back. It looks like a skunk but it has huge front paws that are bigger then its head with long claws that look like they are meant for digging.
I lick my lips as I hear my stomach growl. I tense up my leg muscles preparing to jump. Anything is better then the frog. Forgetting about the frog I dig my claws into the dirt my tail swishing from side to side and wings tight to my body. I wait for the skunk mole as I decide to call it to get a little closer and spring.
No sooner do I dig my feet in and push forward then the ground lets go and I fall into a huge hole. Falling for a good ten feet I grown as I fall on my stomach in pain. Coughing, dust fills the air. I can hear the skunk mole running away above ground. I roll over onto my back. My wings hug my body.
I look up, i'm in what appears to be the area that was once filled with dirt and roots. As the roots decayed they left this huge empty area. I get up and look around in the dark and push some string like old roots to the side like a curtain. Looking around I grab a hand full and give it a small tug it breaks off and leaves a small poof of dirt in the air.
The area appears to be a good six feet wide. I walk over to one of the walls ducking around a bunch of creepy looking roots I run my hand across one as I duck under and give it a small squeeze. It turns to dust and wood pulp in my hand. When I get to the wall I dig my hand into the wall. My hand sink into the soft soil.
It would be easy to widen it. I look around one more time and my eyes fall on the hole I made in the ceiling. I chuckle, aside from the hole I just made in the ceiling it appears to be water proof, and I had been on a small hill so its high ground. Looks like I've found my new home. I look up again and walk over to the wall closest to the hole pressing my hand into the wall it crumbs. "Sigh" no climbing out that way. I stand under the hole and open my wings. Looking at them from side to side I scratch my head.
I'm not sure about this. I stretch them wide and start flapping. I barely get off the ground before I fall back down. "One more try...one more try.....one more try." Gasping for air I lay on my back after 1hr I still have not been able to make it halfway up.
I take a small break before trying again. "My wings and back are killing me." I grumble as I spread my wings and try again. It's another three hrs before I'm finally out of the hole. I'm scrapped all over, hot, and covered with dirt. I must have slammed into the walls a good fifty times.
In the end the only way I could get up was by jumping as high as I could. Then flapping like mad. Luckily the roots near the top soil are still hard so I was able to grab a lower one and pull myself up. I barely made it sense they were giving out as I pulled myself up.
Looking at my wings I realize they are not meant for flight even now my wings tremble in pain. They are for gliding that's it. I lay next to the hole for awhile before I get up to go wash in a nearby stream. Once clean I walk around the hill and decide to dig a trench around the base to make sure the drainage is good, but first I need to look around and make a ladder and reinforce the entrance. Then we will see what comes next. Maybe the slime from the frogs can be used as battery acid.
