I felt my heart quicken at the sight of my mother's body on the stretcher . I couldn't speak or even move it was like my body shut down. I fell on my knees, trembling and shaking with the realization she was gone. The paramedics took her out of the room while my Dad went after them. I sat there on my knees what seemed like an eternity. It felt like my head was going to explode and I wish it did. I choked back sobs that wanted to come through. Hot tears streamed down my face as Dad came into the room. His face was a ghostly white and he seemed lost in thought as he came toward me. He sat down beside me on the floor and leaned me against his chest. I began to sob quietly in his arms. The world faded away as I kept seeing images of Mom laying dead on the floor.
I took deep breaths while Dad made phone calls to set up a funeral for Mom and call relatives to what happened . The day went by fast and night came soon. I was sitting on my bed when my phone rang, it was William, my "best friend" asking me if I was alright and if I needed anything. I didn't reply. I couldn't reply I was still in shock from this morning. I silenced my phone and laid back on my bed. The ceiling spun in circles as I stared. I closed my tired eyes and drifted into a semi-peaceful sleep.
