Chapter 9 - Gifting You An Evil Lord (7) : Earth Golem

Excitement flitted through Mo Yin's eyes. Was this a trap room? She had never tried one of those before. She looked at the needle that was buried deeply in the wall. Only one had shot out because she had barely moved from her starting spot. Just how many needles will come out of the wall?

Since Mo Yin already knew that this was a trap room, there was no point in waiting anymore. She narrowed her eyes slightly and dashed forward towards the tunnel.

Shing Shing Shing Shing.

As soon as she entered a certain area, the trap was activated and thin metal needles began to rain down on her. Needles were shot at her from all four directions, the walls to her side, the ceiling, and even the ground that she was standing on, they were all part of the trap mechanism.

The needles were so densely packed together that they almost looked like a single solid entity. There was nowhere to dodge in the narrow tunnel space and the small and constricted space of the environment forced the challengers to face the needles head on. Once the trap was activated, the challenger will have less than a tenth of a second to simultaneously adapt to the situation and think of a solution. If they can't do so, they will be turned into a human pin cushion by the needles.

Mo Yin's face was without any sense of urgency. She raised her hand and calmly snapped her finger once. The crisp sound echoed through the hollow tunnel way.

All of a sudden, the densely packed needles shrunk in size. Originally they occupied the entirety of Mo Yin's vision but now, parts of the air could be seen again. The shrinking of the needles created space for Mo Yin to dodge aside.

Of course, all the while, needles continued to shot endlessly out of the walls, they came in fierce and endless waves like water breaking free from a broken dam. While Mo Yin shrunk the current batch, more was already coming her way.

She needed to split her attention between running away and using her ability to shrink the needles. There was no time gap between each new rounds of needles being fired, a moment of disattention can easily mean the end. On the surface, it looked hard and perilous but for Mo Yin, this wasn't anything hard.

While she had waited for the registering of the annual testing day to be done, she had already tested out this new ability that she had obtained. Base on her understanding, her ability was the manipulation of size and she didn't need to come in direct contact with the target in order for her ability to work.

After running for about 5 minutes or so, the incessant rains of needle ceased, giving away to another empty hall. Before Mo Yin could even slow down her steps, she heard the sounds of footsteps coming from the distance.

Thud Thud Thud.

There was more than one person heading her way through the narrow tunnel. From the shadows, of a group of mannequin dolls were heading her way. The mannequin's body was bare and smooth and they were all completely faceless.

Mo Yin didn't know if their combat prowess was supposed to be high or something but she didn't want to waste any more time on them. She directly used her ability to shrink them before bypassing them. The shrunken mannequins still tried to chase after Mo Yin but after becoming small they could only helpless run after her but not be able to do anything.

Once Mo Yin had figured out that this was a trap room, she heightened her vigilance and bulldozed through the various traps. The creator of this floor had put a lot of effort into creating deadly and unexpected traps so just in this one floor alone there were more than seventy-two different ways to die.

However, all in all, the Uroborus Tower was a place created with the intention to help students break through there limits and gain new experiences, not to ruthlessly kill them off. The challenges in the tower may be hard and can possibly threaten one's life, but it wasn't made with killing intents.

There were much more dangerous places in the real world where only the strong have a say and the weak can only offer themselves up to die. The Uroborus Tower was still a place bounded by rules, there was no one that died unreasonably only those that went seeking death.

Very soon, Mo Yin cleared the seventy-two ways to die and reached the end of the floor. Although the traps were all very fierce and unique, traps of this level can only be used to amuse Mo Yin and can't actually cause any harm to her.

When Mo Yin sensed that she had clear the first floor, she quietly took a moment to assess the difficulty of this level. If she had to say, the traps on this floor weren't that hard to break through, it was just that the element of surprise raised the overall hardness. There was no way to tell what would happen next so this floor requires the challenger to have a flexible mindset that was capable of adjustment to sudden changes.

Mo Yin was naturally born with a personality that was colder than the average person and if she wasn't at least a little smart, she wouldn't have been able to raise both Mo Sheng and herself when she had nothing. Added to the fact that she has the rich life experience of 100+ life, her mentality and comprehensive ability were all extraordinary. Not everyone can understand an ability that they have just gotten that day in a few hours and formulate the best way to use it but Mo Yin had done just that.

When the first floor was cleared, a portal opened up beckoning Mo Yin to pass through it. Mo Yin walked through the portal and was transported to the next floor. She had taken about two hours to complete the first floor and that was mainly because the tunnel was damn long. Most of the time she wasn't even thinking of the traps, she was just vexed by the seemingly endless narrow hallway.

At the end of the day, this body of hers still lacked in training. In this world, strengthening one's body isn't something that can be accomplished in a day or two unless you awaken an ability that can is related to physical enhancement. Martial skill manuals were used not only to amplify a person's ability but more importantly, it tempers a person's physical skill and strength.

Although abilities are important, your ability is ultimately tied back to you. How long or how powerfully you can use your ability depends on the fitness of your body. In order to use your ability, you need to take in the energy that exists within your surrounding environment. The supply of energy in existence is endless, but the amount you can take into your body to power your ability is limited. The more you strengthen your body as a vessel, the more energy you are capable of holding. Stamina is also extremely important and is often the deciding factor between winning or losing in a battle among people of similar power levels.

During the first floor, it felt like she was running a two-hour marathon, tiring her to death. She admits that her body's constitution was nothing impressive, it was weak and feeble and could be defeated by a punch.

When Mo Yin arrived on the second floor, she immediately sensed that something wasn't right. Mo Yin's nerve went taut in a foreboding sense.

F*ck, this floor… it has no energy fluctuation at all. The air was dead and silent.

She could think of one likely reason for this and that's probably because the theme for this floor is…

Dun.

The sound of an extraordinarily heavy footstep echoed in the starkly empty room. Mo Yin couldn't see who her opponent was yet but she was already dreading it a little in her heart.

From the shadows of the room, a large and stony figure appeared. Its massive body was composed of odd pieces of boulders with jagged edges sharp enough to cut through the skin. Every step and every movement that it made caused the slight trembling of the ground--- evident of its impressive strength and weight.

Two beady red eyes glinted maliciously at Mo Yin as it locked onto its target.

Mo Yin really wanted to sigh at her impressive luck. There were one thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine floors in this tower. She only had to complete three but she still somehow managed to get the one that puts her at the greatest disadvantage.

This was an earth golem, out of all the natural elements it was the one that was the most well suited for defense. A golem made with earth attribute was nothing short of the phrase 'sturdy as a mountain'. Going at it with her two fists alone would be akin to breaking stones with eggs.

Mo Yin opened her suitcase and pulled out a vial of stamina recovery potion. The tower did not restrict her from bringing things in.

But that doesn't mean you can just bring in whatever and blast the tower away. There was a restriction on the tower, it's just that none of the items that Mo Yin had brought in with her surpassed the limits of the tower's tolerance hence the restriction wasn't put into effect.

The earth golem headed towards her in a dun dun dun manner. The ground shook and Mo Yin almost choked while drinking the potion. The earth golem was soon right in front of her, although it was considered a mini golem, it still towered over herself.

Mo Yin downed the stamina potion before once again reaching into her case to take something out.

Bam!

The earth golem lifted its fist and brought it down upon its target. Holding back and whatnot was never programmed into it when it was made so every attack held all of its true strength.

Mo Yin assembled her weapon and quickly blocked the attack. She nimbly skidded the tip of her weapon across the surface of the earth golem's arm and deflected it before jumping to the side.

A double-bladed spear glinted sharply in Mo Yin's hands, although the spear was much taller than her it didn't look awkward at all when she held it.

The rod of the spear was thinly built and its color was black overall. However, towards the top end of the rod, there was a crystal blue material embedded into it that was carefully molded into a delicate design. One end of the spear had a large blade that was slightly curved but not to the extent of a scythe. The blade on the other end wasn't as large and instead of being curved, it was straight. The tips of both blades glinted a faint shade of murderous red.

This was one of the artifacts that she had made and its grade was on the higher end. It was made with the best materials that she had managed to obtain at that time and was inlaid with multiple layers of complicated enchantments. However, right now there were no energies in the room so the spear could only function as an ordinary weapon.

Mo Yin thought about it. This earth golem wasn't like the ones found in the wild, it wasn't formed by the elements naturally and was instead something created by humans. It had no life force of its own so logically speaking it should be powered by the world's natural energy. There was no energy in this room so the earth golem must have been precharged before being let out or it has an energy source inlaid in its body.

Mo Yin took the initiative to rush over and clash with the earth golem again. The earth golem turned its limbs and similarly charged over.

With her current body, she didn't want to accept the force of the earth golem's attack head on so she used the tip of her spear to lightly deflect the earth golem's fists.

Mo Yin's battle style prioritized being fast, swift, and precise. The way she wielded the spear was full of easy elegance. There were no wasteful movements at all.

Mo Yin may lack strength but she was confident in the quality of the artifact that she had carefully crafted herself.

It wasn't long before the final result of the battle emerged. Mo Yin chipped away at the surface of the earth golem bit by bit until the thick rocky surface of the golem had thinned considerably.

Schunk. Mo Yin droved the straight blade of the spear into the earth golem's chest and gave it a merciless twist. The blade sunk even deeper into the earth golem but it couldn't do anything since Mo Yin kept it at a distance, taking advantage of the spear's length.

Mo Yin pushed against the spear and exerted her body's weight. The spear in her hand was lifted upwards, cutting through the top half of the earth golem's chest and the entirety of its head.

Despite being in this state, the earth golem still failed around quite lively. Mo Yin didn't falter and continued to bring down her spear.

She didn't stop until a portal appeared in front of her causing her to pause. Mo Yin tiredly dusted off her spear and drank another stamina potion. She didn't sustain any injuries but her arms throbbed achingly causing them to involuntarily tremble a bit.

Sigh, if possible she would've want to avoid a purely physical confrontation like this. She really doesn't have a preference for getting beaten up.

She picked up the case that had been thrown aside during the battle. En, it was still in one piece.

Mo Yin checked the jade tower pass and found out that she only had a little over three hours left. Not wanting to waste any more time, she decisively headed towards the next floor.
